KingDom Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Yes, it's what they did in '08. Just because they tried to make it slope the best way they could at this scale doesn't mean it doesn't look flat. The Venator, I can understand, even if I still don't like it, but my main gripes are all in the AAT. I have to agree with you about the ATT. I suppose I have a unique look on sets these days, defending the much hated Ewok Attack and now this Venator. Quote
Ceroknight Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I have a feeling these new not so well designed MINIs will be available in Canada while the others were not.. Quote
prateek Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Ewww. These new minis are ugly. I think the old mini Venator was way better. As for the AAT, I'm sure Lego could do much better than that! Quote
Fives Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I've never seen much use for the minis. They are kinda cool, but they have no figs, so I've never bought them, except some of the first ones from 2004 just to see what it was about. Quote

Don't forget that the old Mini venator had many more pieces so it's understandable that this would be less detailed. Quote

Those were great; chock full of useful and printed parts and nearly a 20:1 part per dollar ratio on some. Quote

Since then, though, the only mini I got was the RAS. Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 These minis are pretty pointless - I'm not sure why anyone would want them... Quote
KingDom Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 These minis are pretty pointless - I'm not sure why anyone would want them... Stop Motions, Comics, Backgrounds, MOC's (i.e. a small scale hangar). Mini's have allways had their uses otherwise they wouldn't exist. Quote
Enpaz Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 The AAT is really bad but I like the Venator! Quote
Fives Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 The AAT is really bad but I like the Venator! Out of the two of them, the Venator is better IMO. Quote
KingDom Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Out of the two of them, the Venator is better IMO. So far I think the general opinion is that neither sets are very good but the venator is better. I do wonder how they'll be distributed? Yearly in the UK a newspaper gives away lego sets so I hope that's how they make their way over here. Quote
brickbuilder Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I think they don't look that great, but it is hard to design at that scale. Both sets do seem like good parts packs though, as long as they're not too expensive. Quote

KingDom Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Minis are never too expensive. My only fear is that they'll be harf to find Quote
Masked Builder Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 If you ask me the Venator is too small and the AAT need s some more curves. I won't get the Venator as I have the old one but the AAt is a maybe. I think it could be a bit bigger, the Veantor is just tiny. Quote
Fives Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 The AAT could be made bigger by some simple MODing. But I have no interest in getting minis in the first place, because most interested in collecting the minifigs. Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 (edited) I am not sure if anyone has pointed this out but in this kingdoms set the person in the bottom middle with the darktan hair could be the new luke hair If so it looks mighty fine! Edited January 1, 2011 by Darth Jar Jar Quote
KimT Posted January 1, 2011 Author Posted January 1, 2011 Slow down guys - you're turning this into a chat. Adding 6 pages of chit chat on the minis will only make this topic harder to follow for everyone else. Quote

Good catch! I never thought of that when I saw those pics. What I am most excited for in the new MF is the Han Solo. I think they will give him new printing on his torso, back and front. Also, maybe pupils for Chewie! Quote

I don't think this is the same piece, and it's probably just a placeholder instead of a new hair piece altogether, but if you look at Anakin in the box (not on the minifigures list) of the Dathomir speeder, he appears to have new hair that might also be suitable for Luke. Of course, Anakin probably won't have new hair, but if it is an actual piece, it could be possible. Image here. Quote

Of course, Anakin probably won't have new hair, but if it is an actual piece, it could be possible. Image here. It doesn't really look all that different than his normal hair-piece, maybe a little smoother, but I don't think they'd change that. On the other hand, I am desperately hoping that they change both his and Ventress' outfits. They both have new dress in the new episodes, and they should get new Lego outfits. Hopefully that will change in the final version. Quote

I agree, seeing as these are prelims, they might change the outfits of Anakin and Assajj, considering in the new upcoming episodes featuring these three characters, both already don their new attires. But then again, is it worth changing Assajj's minifig design even if this is just her second release? (Unlike the CW Anakin who has had countless minifig releases). Quote

Like I said, I'm pretty sure these will be the year's two minis distributed to stores as the X-wing, RAS, GG starfighter, and V-19 all were. Quote
CommanderFox Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 The mini sets look okay, I might try making them sometime just to see what they look like. Thanks for finding the pics nrg! CF Quote
