Don't forget Target, you forgot Target....they also get SW exclusives, but is it normal that two store exclusives are in the first wave of a yearly release ?

Earlier this year it was just TRU and the Swamp Speeder (got that one ! ) !

Keep on.....you know the rest by now !

It's probably not speculation. We're just trying to figure out which store carries Special Editions, TRU or Wal-Mart

I'm going to say Wal-Mart. 'Course, S@H and the Brand Stores always carry all of them, so it doesn't really matter to me.

Question: is there any major difference between the Imperial V-Wing and the Republic V-Wing released a while back? Only that one cost 10 dollars and this costs 25... I see the astromech is whole, but is the ship itself larger?

Couple of differences:

The 6205 uses the same cockpit piece as the LEGO Jedi Starfighters, the new 7915 uses some weird really big cockpit piece which is inaccurate.

6205 has tiles on the top of the nose, 7915 has a slope piece - which is weird considering that there's a cavity in that spot on the "real" V-wing.

The 7915 is clearly a bit bigger in the nose area.

The area around the cockpit is now completely rectangular (in contrast to the red 2x4 wings used on the 6205 which were more accurate)

It looks like the 7915 has a couple more slope bricks around the cockpit area.

The 6205 uses click hinges for the panels surrounding the astromech droid, the 7915 uses the bar hinges which are easily knocked out of place.

The 6205 had a pair of 2x4 45 slope bricks surrounding the astromech droid (which is accurate); the same area is more rectangular on the 7915, and they seem to have made space for the whole droid (which is inaccurate)

The 6205 used black "lightsaber blades" for guns and connected them to the round structures via Technic pins; the 7915 uses cones (somewhat more accurate but too stubby) and appears to attach with this piece.

The 6205 had a pair of red 1x4 wings on the rear of the round structures; the 7915 appears to lack anything resembling those.

The 6205 used "flaps" with bars to attach the wing panels; I'm not sure what they did for 7915, but it's evidently different.

Well, most kids won't know anything about the OT or the PT now, but will know about The Clone Wars.

Yeah, but there are video games out that feature several starships and vehicles from the Original Trilogy (Empire at War or the Force Unleashed for example) which gives LEGO an excuse to make some Original Trilogy sets.

About the V-wing - I'm really questioning the odd guns. The original captured the guns perfectly. I guess I'm going to have to swap them when I get the new one. And I'm still disappointed about the TIE pilot. :hmpf_bad:

See above. I'm actually glad about the TIE pilot since the new ones are more accurate and the older rendition was badly done IMO (just a black stormtrooper helmet which is way off). And this way you won't have to spend $50 on a TIE Defender to get one. And of course there's always bricklink.

Where can you get Walmart and Target exclusives in the UK? Over here we don't have Target or Walmart; our main toy store is TRU.

Lord Embo

Asda is owned by Walmart hence Asda Walmart stores.

Yikes! Around 20 pages to read, can't miss a thing on these forums! First of all, I hope TRU will carry this set, because I really don't want it to be at Walmart. Also, I am glad that the helmet for the V-wing pilot is open, I really need one of those helmets! I bet about 3 weeks from now these sets will be popping up in more places. I can't wait!

Oh, I just read that the helmet was open a few pages back. I just looked again though, and some people said it was closed too. Oh well, I will like that minifig either way.

Same here. I have the old one, though, and IMHO it works quite well, especially when you consider that it was first produced when TLG was uncertain whether or not SW would sell.

Well, most kids won't know anything about the OT or the PT now, but will know about The Clone Wars. So, until the films come out in 3D in 2012, we'll probably have to endure sets from The Clone Wars, I'm afraid. Remember, Lego is aimed at kids, and it is crucial that the kids actually know what it is by watching the films; I persuade my kids to watch the films every 3 weeks or so, so that they know all about it.

Somehow I doubt that- parents would likely show their kids the original SW movies. If they didn't that's just sad, IMO. CW isn't all too terrible, but the kids deserve to see the originals.

I like the new V-wing just because it is bigger.

I don't like the new V-wing 'cause it's too big.

Disagreement?!?! :oh3:

This conversation can easily go down the wrong path, if you know what I mean

Do the special edition sets come out earlier or later than the other sets in the January Wave?

Lord Embo

Depends. 'Special Edition' just means that onlyselect stores other than TLG can sell the set, they could come out in the main wave or as a spring release.

It could be too big. I'll have to see when somebody gets it.

I don't know what to think of the BARC speeder. It's not exactly accurate, and quite blocky for a recent set... And yet it appeals to me. Hmm.

You're not alone. While blocky I think it's great!

I think quite the same about this, it isn't really accurate, but still looks good.

I agree, it loosk really cool, despite being not that accurate. If you made an accurate speeder, it would have to be really really small; I'm happy that we'll get more pieces, great for MOC-ing ;)

Also, if they made it more accurate, it would mean less stability, which in turn will make less happy kids. Isn't that the point of Lego anyways? It's just a toy. I remember playing with a Lego car I got, and the wheels broke off, and I got so sad that I cried.
