Delta 38 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Wow. The Clone battlepack appeals more and more each time I see it. The ARF has nice printing, and the bomb squad troopers look great, no matter how illogical a squadron of them might be. I can't tell if the helmet is open or closed in the V-Wing. It looks closed, but the angles say otherwise. Strange. Quote
Fallenangel Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 It's already been established with the loose pictures that the V-wing pilot's helmet is open, though I don't understand why LEGO would go to the trouble when they already gave us a pretty decent TIE pilot with the 8087 TIE Defender. Quote
brickbuilder Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Does anyone have hi-res pictures of the Battle of Geonosis and Mace Windu's JSF? Although I'm getting all the sets, these two seem the most interesting to me. Plus, I don't think we've really seen a good picture of the Tactical Droid, have we? Quote

Probably the fourth time I've said this, but it is based on this pilot: Except LEGO made the head differently by using the head from the Emperor's Shuttle in black, mixing the two together. Probably because instead of Republic colours for the pilot and ship (like the picture below), the new set has Imperial colours thus they changed everything to black. Mr Man Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Does anyone know if the Daily Mirror is going to do small promotional sets like it did earlier this year (30004, 30005, 30006 and some minis.) in 2011? Quote
Rocketbilly Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Does anyone know if the Daily Mirror is going to do small promotional sets like it did earlier this year (30004, 30005, 30006 and some minis.) in 2011? Probably around Easter time, like we had the Racers promotion this year. But if we do, I doubt that it will be Star Wars. Having said that, there are a couple of promo sets available in the US right now - an X Wing fighter and something else, I believe, that we could possibly get - There recently was a free Star Wars comic in the Mirror, so obviously they've go some sort of agreement with Lucas AND Lego still, so I suppose it's a possibility. I'm really looking forward to these sets now, I really, really want that 6205! Will/Rocketbilly Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 TLG usually has a couple MINI promos for Easter, in 2008 it was GG's Starfighter and the V-19, in 2009 I know an NR-N99 and T-47 were planned but not released, and this year it was the afore-mentioned X-wing and I forgot what else. I think the helmet makes sense, because as has been said it's a cross between the two era's helmets. Not sure how accurate it is, even if there is an action figure for it. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Well I assume Hasbro also has full access to Lucasfilm... He says that because more often than not Hasbro's models aren't accurate, whether in features, dimensions, name, description, or the whole model. Not to say that they're always wrong, and some of their non-canon creations are still considered canon for lack of a contradicting source, but there are so many other sources that show the normal TIE helmet that LEGO could've used. And saved a little money by using an existing piece to boot. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 It was the Republic Attack Shuttle. Thanks NRB those pictures look good! Ah, yes, that's it. And his name is NRG. I really don't care about the promos, they generally aren't the greatest, and since we don' have pics (and won't until they're released) we'd better stop discussing them. Lord Embo Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 They're special edition Spring releases, we're extremely lucky to even have any pics at this time. I'm surprised that we don't have hi-res pics of the SE sets yet; we got hi-res pics of the January sets just two months before they were released. If this is anything to go by, and considering that the Swamp Speeder(one of this year's SE sets) was released in March, we should get pictures in January at the earliest. Lord Embo Quote

Mr Man Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) Just to clear up the pilot thing the first two are republic pilots and two second are imperial pilots. and and and the Lego versions Pilot 1, Pilot 2, Pilot 3. There is no minifig of pilot 3 Pilot 1 and 3 are open faced pilots that fly ARC fighters, Y wings, Shuttles and ships with atmospheres. Pilots 2 and 4 are closed faced pilots that fly ships like TIE,s and V-wings that have no atmosphere. The pilot in the imperial v-wing is the closed faced one like the closed faced clone pilot but painted black, and will eventually become the TIE pilot. The old V wing pilot is the same as the EP shuttle pilot but a old mold (a closed face republice pilot). The open faced imperial pilot (pilot 3) has no minifig. TheBrickHitHouse Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 People are unhappy the v wing pilot has a new helmet?! Baffling... I'm thrilled we have another new minifig Quote
Masked Builder Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I'm thrilled we have another new minifig I agree. The helmet looks good to me! Quote
commanderneyo Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I agree. The helmet looks good to me! Also agreed, If it wasn't for the new Pilot and Astromech the set would be a waste of time to me! Quote
Fallenangel Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 People are unhappy the v wing pilot has a new helmet?! Baffling... I'm thrilled we have another new minifig The price sir, the price. New parts = higher price. Of course, the thing is so terribly inaccurate that I'll just pass over it anyway, but the point remains valid. There's also the fact that reusing the TIE pilot from the Defender in a cheaper set would have made that minifigure more accessible, the bricklink prices lower, and this set more desirable, as well as a lack of redundancy factor, particularly in that LEGO is actually taking a step back with the introduction of this less accurate helmet in relation to the previous rendition which inevitably results in deteriorating set quality and higher prices (as well as my disgust at a lack of real improvement, but I doubt the views of one member are a considerable factor in your LEGO decisions). Lord Embo Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Also agreed, If it wasn't for the new Pilot and Astromech the set would be a waste of time to me! I also agree. I barely want it as it is; if it included a TIE Pilot and that astromech droid from the Death Star then there would be absolutely no chance of me getting it. Lord Embo Quote

I never got the previous v-wing and I think any new fig is a bonus. But if people dont like the pilots face then you could change it with the rebels face in 8083. The astromech droid is so . Thanks, CB Quote

Thanks, CB I think this set is awful - but I WILL be buying it JUST for the Astromech ! The rest will be spare parts. Quote
brickbuilder Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) Hold on, does anybody know if the pilots helmet should actually be closed? Because I doubt the Empire developed and mass produced a whole new type of helmet in a matter of days. It's more probable that they just had the same helmets at the end of ROTS, but they were painted black. Edited December 5, 2010 by brickbuilder Quote
