The Legonater Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Great big pics! Yeah, I'm leaning more and more towards not buying the V-Wing. It'll help me save money for other stuff, though. Quote
General Magma Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I start liking the V-Wing less, now... It's very thin, doesn't look very nice and isn't accurate. I might buy it for the new Astromech droid and the figure, though. But I'll just make my own V-Wing, if I feel the need to. Also, I assume we'll be getting pictures for the summer sets in about 5-15 days. Last year we got them on December the 14th. (Or 13th?) ~ General Magma Quote
Mr Man Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) The helms used in the V wing are supposed to be closed ie and this is because the v wing has no internal atmosphere like the TIE fighter and unlike the ARC fighter where the pilot has an open face like . there is no minifig of . Edit: where are my images? I can see thm in code view but not like this Edited December 5, 2010 by Mr Man Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I also agree. I barely want it as it is; if it included a TIE Pilot and that astromech droid from the Death Star then there would be absolutely no chance of me getting it. Lord Embo If it included the DS astromech and normal TIE pilot, there'd absolutely a chance of me getting it. No way I'm spending money for an ugly fighter to get an inaccurate minifig. Brickdoctor Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 You mean Prelim images or just normal images? Last year it was box pics, and Imperium der Steine (spelling?) had them first. We were extremely lucky to get them that early, though. Quote
General Magma Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 You mean Prelim images or just normal images? Prelim. Normal (or slightly less preliminary) images appear around February, mostly. I remember that we got summer 2010 set pics during ToyFair back in February this year. ~ General Magma Quote
Emperor Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 It would be very nice if we got pics in December, but I don't think it is very likely - last year was an exception, so I'm afraid we'll have to wait at least until January. This year, we got the list in November; is this earlier than usual or is it normal to get infos (with out pics, though) at this time of the year? Imperium der Steine (spelling?) Correct Quote
brickbuilder Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Imperium der Steine says we should get pics this year. By the way, how did we get pics last year? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Imperium der Steine says we should get pics this year. By the way, how did we get pics last year? Dunno, they were leaked to Imperium der Steine, I guess. General Magma, they were complete finalized box pics, not prelims. Is there even a product catalog for the Summer wave? I don't recall having ever seen one. Quote
Fallenangel Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Hold on, does anybody know if the pilots helmet should actually be closed? Because I doubt the Empire developed and mass produced a whole new type of helmet in a matter of days. It's more probable that they just had the same helmets at the end of ROTS, but they were painted black. I'm fairly certain that in the Incredible Cross-sections (the only relatively canon source that contains this information) the V-wing's pilot is depicted as having a fully sealed helmet, not unlike the Clone Wars-era ARC-170 pilots' helmets: I assume this is because the Republic cut costs by having the pilots carry their own life support instead of putting it in the ship, in the fashion of the later TIE/ln fighters. And at the end of Sith with the grey Venators and V-wings it looks like they just removed all the paint, so I assume the internal structure is the same. As such, this "Imperial" V-wing's pilot should have the same type of helmet. In any case, Hasbro is dead wrong since the only people we see wearing the open pilot (at least in the films) are Oddball and Jag, both of which are ARC-170 pilots. HOWEVER, in the scene with young Vader on the bridge looking at the Death Star prototype the officers are all wearing Imperial garb. Personally I think those last couple of scenes are implied to have taken place a bit of time after the birth of the Skywalker twins (how much paint can you remove in a few days off of a 1000+m battleship) so I assume by that point all of the standard uniforms have been altered. As such, the V-wing pilot should have been refitted with a TIE pilot's uniform and helmet. Quote
General Magma Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 General Magma, they were complete finalized box pics, not prelims. I was talking about the summer sets, the completely finalized box pics for summer sets normally appear around February. The ones you're referring to are the wave 1 pics, I assume? ~ General Magma Quote

I just know FBTB posted box pics around this time last year via Imperium der Steine. The Legonater Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 They could've been already prepared. In fact, it's likely. Palpy was creating the Empire behind everyone's back, using a lot of the Republic's money. These events are noted in Rep. Commando: Order 66, if I'm correct. Quote

These events are noted in Rep. Commando: Order 66, if I'm correct. Indeed, As far as I can tell it's already stated in 'Republic Commando - True Colors', it says large funds are embezzled from republic funds by high officials and are hinted to be invested in new troops being created/cloned in other locations. Haven't finished the book yet, so don't know the exact facts yet. Quote

Haven't finished the book yet, so don't know the exact facts yet. Those are the new clones grown in Spaarti cylinders on Coruscant's moon. They grow much faster and will form part of the Imperial Army. On-topic: I forgot, the TIE pilot in the V-wing has a printed black head underneath, right? Or is it the Zev Senesca head? Quote

saibot Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I'm surprised that we don't have hi-res pics of the SE sets yet; we got hi-res pics of the January sets just two months before they were released. If this is anything to go by, and considering that the Swamp Speeder(one of this year's SE sets) was released in March, we should get pictures in January at the earliest. Lord Embo would be nice allright to get these, Battle of Geonosis will be a nice set to go alongside 7681. Quote

This post is the earliest photo I could find for the Swamp Speeder in the 2010 Rumors thread. It's dated December 10, 2009, and the Swamp Speeder was a January release. So a month out sounds about right. Quote

Walter Kovacs Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) Thanks. I know Swamp Speeders were spotted in January, but was the official date January or March? When looking through the 2010 thread, I saw vendor catalogs that said it was a January release. At least I assume it said January, it was in a foreign tongue that I don't understand. Let me see if I can find the post again. EDIT: Well, I couldn't find the post I was looking for, but I did find this one which clearly says February in English. Sorry for the confusion. Bricks2000 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) I looked it up on Brickipedia, and they said it was released january 4. Edit: the date i said was for us and uk. Edited December 7, 2010 by Bricks2000 Quote
