brickbuilder Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) The droid carrier in Battle of Naboo did not appear in the actual fight in the movie. It's not an accurate representation at all so thumbs down for what could have been a decent set. The sets needs more accuracy and more power on the Gungan side. This was a big disappointment. Actually they were in the movie. But the set isn't as long as the real thing. Edited December 8, 2010 by brickbuilder Quote

Fallenangel Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) Because it's supposed to fit in there. Wouldn't you complain if they didn't put the radar dish on the Falcon? It needs to be there- to remove is just strange. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080121191610/starwars/images/a/ae/Vwing_ICS.jpg Note that it refers to the droid as a "spherical Q7-series astro-droid". In other words, the body is actually just another dome - an R2 droid's body wouldn't fit there in the first place. LEGO did us all a favor because they realized that most people wouldn't know and included the R2 droid's body. (LEGO has full access to Lucasfilm, so there's no way that they wouldn't know.) With the radar dish, it's different. If LEGO were portraying the Falcon as it appeared during or shortly after the Battle of Endor, I wouldn't complain since the radar dish was actually knocked off while it was inside the second Death Star (I believe Lando's exact words were, "that was too close".) . This also would not be an issue if the Falcon were in Docking Bay 94, as it should not have a radar dish at all. Turns out that the whole ship couldn't actually fit in the docking bay so they only built part of it for that scene. Of course, if they had left out the radar dish when it was supposed to be there, I would complain since it's such a recognizable feature. EDIT: Oh yeah... When I do something stupid, just copy and paste this into your post... Edited December 9, 2010 by fallenangel327 Quote
Churchill Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Well, fallenangel327, you've convinced me on the Q7 spherical droid. I should have checked wookiepedia. That eliminates a con for me on this v-wing. I shall consider myself lucky to have the extra body, and complain about having to remove the dome no more! Quote

Churchill Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Oh, I'm not that much of a stickler for accuracy. I like to redo the guts of my shuttles to put as many minfigs as I can inside... that makes it more "realistic" for me, even if the proportions don't end up being as correct. Unless we have minifig scale models of everything, I'd just as soon have a shuttle that can actually, well, shuttle. So you and I probably actually think alike, Prateek. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Looks like I certainly missed out on something yesterday. That video seals the deal for me- I'm sticking with the old one and passing on the new one. It looks ugly to me I see they couldn't squeeze the astromech in- personally, I'm not surprosed and it wouldn't be accurate anyways, but I'm kind of dissappointed that didn't think of a clever way to do it. brickbuilder Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Using the video, I built the Imperial V-Wing with my spare parts, and let me tell you: The wing switching mechanism is so addicting! All throughout dinner today, I kept switching it from flying mode to landing mode, and every one kept getting ticked off at me . But seriously, that was the most fun I've had with a lego set in a long time! When it comes out, I'm getting it for sure! Quote

It's amazing how quickly opinions can change... I, on the other hand, like most Lego consumers don't care for every single thing to be accurate and just want a place for the body on the ship. I guess you could just stick the body in the cockpit with the pilot then - there's certainly enough space. Looks like I certainly missed out on something yesterday. As expected from the UCS builder himself. It looks like I was right about the droid. Excuse me for a moment: Couldn't resist the Scrubs reference. =D Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Some people would prefer the astromech removed to reduce cost? Some of u must be bankrupt if a 50cent difference matters Try getting a job! I think the v wing looks good, it's a 3/5 set for sure but the minifigs are great Last one cost £9.99 - bet it's twice that now... Quote
StoutFiles Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 It's amazing how quickly opinions can change... My opinion never changed, I always want these sets to be as accurate as possible. Now that I know the droid is not like an R2 unit, the extra droid body should go. Whatever makes these sets SW accurate. Quote
Steff Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 More Pictures with details. 7915 7913 7914 7929 7930 7931 Quote
General Magma Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Thanks for the pictures! Saesee Tiin is great, and so is the gungan warrior. The clone commander looks better than I thought, too. I wonder what heads the Mandalorians will have.. And finally - Solo blasters confirmed! ~ General Magma Quote
commanderneyo Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Excellent images Well my opinion on the Commander has changed. I thought he looked good but from these new images for me he is the must have figure of January 2011 Saesee Tinn looks great also Quote
MightySlickPancake Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Thanks for those Steff . I think the v-wing looks nice, but so do all of 'em. But the pictures are a bit big. The new clones and mandos look beautiful . Thanks, CB Quote
prateek Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) Very cool high res pics! I love the dark blue Mando torso! One thing I'm worried about though, is how often we will see misprinted Clone helmets, especially with this fancy new printing Anyways, time to go build the BPs on LDD. Anyone know how the bottom of the BARC is made? EDIT: I'm done the Mando BP. Edited December 9, 2010 by prateek Quote
RileyC Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Awesome pics! Im a fan of the new lego printing for the clones, its quite subtle and works well. I am a fan of the Halo more so than the shuttle. I like the colours and I think it will be a more enjoyable set. But Saesee Tinn sure does look nice. I sure do hope we see more pics in the days to come! Quote

I think it's because LEGO is charging 50 cents for a droid body that people are mad... Anyone else here think that the bounty hunter gunship looks kind of... <insert that tiresome argument>? There are a lot of large curved pieces, bright colors, stickers... granted, LEGO did a better job integrating the curves here than on, say, the 7915 V-wing, but I still think it's a bit off. That is one HUGE BARC speeder... Quote

No. Considering the only big pieces here are the roof and the 4x16 curved slope, everything is fine to me. Quote
Stegoceras Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 My oh my, what lovely pictures. So detailed, seasee's headpiece and face both look amazing and the detail on the horn company clone commander is sublime. Still not too fond of the bounty hunter gunship, though the sticker on the door looks fun and it seems you can stick all the mini figures into the model, so that are some pros. i also wonder what parts are printed and which are not. On another note, I for one am very happy to see TLG included a body for the V-wing astromech, I know it's horribly inaccurate but who doesn't want a neat little gray body to go with a gray head. Had it been a body color we had already seen i could understand people not liking it, but now... I mean, just look at it (well worth the 50 cents, hehe) But I guess this simply is always the case, some people like it, others don't Quote
brickbuilder Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I already built the battle packs, and the V-wing Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Man, Lego is getting better and better with their printing on figures....the battle packs are a MUST BUY and the Halo bounty hunter's ship with it's different opennings is VERY COOL indeed. Dam, come on 2011.....may the brick be with you ! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Thanks for these wonderful hi-res pics Steff! (Though these are way too large as per EB's guidelines, links would have been preferred). I agree with LT, the printing details just get better and better each year, I thought only the Bomb squad Troopers have leg prints, even the Clone Commander has! And Seasee's head prints are just great, though many would still poke fun at his CW face, but it's still ok, better to have one than none. The V-Wing astromech is a must-have, and the BARC, though a bit bulky in front, looks promising in terms of MODding. Quote
brickbuilder Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 These sets are amazing! I really like the printing on the clone troopers! I assume that the bomb squad helmet is molded in orange right? I'd also like to see some pics of the ARF Trooper. By the way, if anyone wants to see an army of barc speeders, click here: Clicky Quote
