nrg Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Looks like the entire January wave (minus SE 7968 and 7969) are up on Amazon for preorder. I'll grab all and add to the Gallery and flickr. 7868 and 7869 not 7968 and 7969 Quote
KimT Posted December 10, 2010 Author Posted December 10, 2010 7868 and 7869 not 7968 and 7969 Sorry for the wrong button - if you'd check the first post, then you'll se that the sets are numbered correctly. Did you have any trouble understanding what I meant or are you just keen on correcting? Quote
Supersonic Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 It's not only that the piece count for the T-6 is suspiciously low, it is also the exact same number the Halo has. Looks like a copy&paste mistake to me. The Halo is also made of some very big bricks, btw. Quote
Stardusty Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 I saw those stickers on T-6 before, on older pictures... Who cares, I won't apply them when I get it. Quote

prateek Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Great pictures of the Naboo set and the Clone BP by Karlijntje2 here. Also his Youtube review . I don't really like the green rectangles all over the ARF helmet. Quote
Forresto Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Can I just say this and KimT I know this is going to displease you but........ New Blaster pistols! What did I say? I was right! Boo yeah! Sorry but I was the only one to point that out and since nobody believed me, I thought I should bring that back up Great pictures of the Naboo set and the Clone BP by Karlijntje2 here. The clonetropers actually look quite good, but I'll just buy that battlepack when I have some spare money left. Not really interested in the battlepacks, with my planned Naboo and Endor projects. Now we just need summer set pictures. ~ General Magma Edited December 10, 2010 by General Magma Quote
Delta 38 Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 I don't really like the green rectangles all over the ARF helmet. I like them, but maybe that's just because I like more detail. They might look better if they were in grey or something, though. Unfortunately, the ARF doesn't have printed legs. If they're going to make printed legs for the other two, they might as well just create printed legs without markings for regular Clones. A bit annoying, but the bomb squad troopers and commanders will be the highlight of my collection anyway, so it doesn't matter if they do stand out. I don't need printed arms, but I think printed legs is necessary. Quote

I thought it was obvious. Just didn't see it in the Madno battle pack until a certain picture. It was pretty clear there was a new scoped pistol with Aurra and the Commander. afosl Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 The Gungans are probably still the high point for me. Also, I missed the last V wing, so now I have chance to get one if I still want to. Looking at the astro droid for that set, two things spring to mind. It seems a bit odd that the Mando battle pack isn't using that metallic grey/silver colour for their helmets. Even the old Jango Fett figure had a silver helmet and jet pack. Spread the metallic love, Lego. Do the Mando's look grey in the cartoon? Also, maybe, just maybe, we might see a new R2-D2 with an accurate silver dome instead of white or grey, as much as that improved the figure before. A topic for a 2012 picture and rumour thread next year, maybe? Quote

afosl Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Yes <snip> That explains that, then. Thanks Quote

filospinato Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Thanks for the higher res pics, very nice! Definitely sold on the Clone BP and Mando BP, starting to warm up to the bounty hunter ship. Pretty slick mechanism to rotate the engines for landing, sliding that upper piece backwards. Very cool. Quote
Fallenangel Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Also, maybe, just maybe, we might see a new R2-D2 with an accurate silver dome instead of white or grey, as much as that improved the figure before. A topic for a 2012 picture and rumour thread next year, maybe? You realize that the reason only part of the dome was printed initially is because Artoo would be horrendously out of scale with minifigures if the entire head were printed (much like it is now - but something about LEGO Star Wars changed after the winter of '07). The way I see it, LEGO knew that a few customers would complain about the ridiculously oversized astro-droid so they only printed part of the dome; this way, if you scrapped the body and just stuck the head on, say, an X-wing, it would look like Artoo's head and part of his body were sticking out of the hull the way it does in the film! What I'm wondering is why they didn't just print part of the body detail on the head as well instead of printing it on the separate body piece and leaving that unsightly white gap... With the current head print, Artoo is finally somewhat to scale with himself, but completely out of whack with Luke and Threepio. Actually, I'm glad that the Mandalorian armor isn't a metallic color - Jango's shiny armor completely kills the battle-worn image that Boba Fett's original suit had. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 (edited) I don't really like the green rectangles all over the ARF helmet. I for one, like it simply because it's accurate. I might've been wrong saying Arealight's version is better, but the close-up pic of the ARF reveals the articulated detail in the air-breather part, and those helmer prints are just spot-on. And I no longer have complaints on the closed eye visor, this printed one actually looks good already. See how accurate it is? Edited December 11, 2010 by KielDaMan Quote
Fallenangel Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Judging from KielDaMan's reference picture, that mold is quite impressive! If this were 2007 LEGO would never have included the breather details. I think that this may exceed the 2005 LEGO V-wing pilot in detailing - very, very nice. Something bothers me, though - they can make this, but they can't give Darth Vader a neck? Having just that triangle portion and then a straight edge gives a really weird look to the helmet. If LEGO is responding to AFOLS' demands for more detailed molds, I might as well take advantage. They've already perfected the stormtrooper, TIE pilot, and AT-AT drivers' helmets - it's time the Dark Lord gets a new mold to fit his new torso print. Quote

Well since the last Vader was made, two-three years ago(?), and if the minifig detailing in the past couple of years is any indication, then there is a high possibility of an updated and more detailed Vader minifig in a future set. But that is something to be discussed in another topic, though it's nice to bring that issue up considering the upcoming release of highly accurate and detailed minifigs of the 2011 line-up. Hello all, while searching "7931" on the internet, I've stumbled upon close up pictures of Shaak Ti on google images! :) And quite a beauty, I must say! Thanks for sharing this Jar Jar! Shaak Ti is a real beauty! The more I see this, and the Saesee fig, the more I'm drawn to buy the T-6 set. Quote

With the current head print, Artoo is finally somewhat to scale with himself, but completely out of whack with Luke and Threepio. Do you have a source for this? I'm fairly certain that the reason R2-D2's head print was different in the early days is because LEGO could only print one surface of the dome-- the top. The 2x2 dome piece today has several decoration surfaces, just as a minifigure head has three-- the front, the back, and the top. This is supported by LEGO Digital Designer, where the top print of the modern-style R2-D2 is available, but none of the other surface prints are. The surfaces appear, and if you wanted you could do something really zany and put another decoration on there (for instance, a minifig face or a pizza), but only one decoration that belongs on the 2x2 dome is available. Easy to overlook, of course, because the print cannot be applied with the regular decoration tool and its ID number has to be typed manually into an LXFML to get it onto LDD. Image of dome with top surface printed LXF file of dome with top surface printed This is also the reason the Buzz Droid's dome pieces had the same perimeters for their decoration as the old-style R2-D2's dome. Today's astromechs, in contrast, have printing that extends almost the entire span of the brick from top stud to base. Quote
