Thanks for the pics. Both sets are still passes for me; no want of the Tactical Droid, have CW Mace, have Rex, have the totally better RotS Luminara.

Is it just me or is there a blue lightsaber blade stuck in the chest ofthe B1 operating the proton cannon?

So if it follows the pattern of the last $25 sets, I would assume we'd get Luke, 1 ewok, 1 rebel, and 2 imperial scouts?

Brickbuilt parts would be a speeder bike, an ewok catapult and what else? In the Echo Base one we got that rebel cannon/fort thing AND a taun taun. I'm at a loss as to what brickbuilt things there might be. We already got an AT-ST in the Endor set...

(edit: not that the taun taun was brickbuilt, but you know what I mean)

I'm kinda hoping for another glider, it had a few good bits in it.

I think it's just you. That's a Trans blue 1 x 2 tile used as a control panel.

Really?

Oh, well. I'm not getting the set anyways.

I've just found new pics of the SE sets on s@h's cache:

7869-0000-xx-12-1.jpg

The control panel for the droid sitting on the side of the cannon seems to be attached with a new piece. Am I wrong or someone else has my same opinion?

EDIT: Maybe it's just a droid arm :hmpf_bad:

Am I the only one who doesn't see any guns on the JSF? How can they do a JSF without guns??

Maybe it's a Jedi StarNegotiator?

No idea. Hope larger pics show up soon.

The Geonosis set looks Clone Wars based, which I haven't yet followed. Thus the only battle of Geonosis I know of is the opening battle of the Clone Wars in Episode 2. But I have no idea if that was the only time the Clone Wars took place on Geonosis. Having droid factories on that planet, I could see a reason why more battles would be fought there in the coming years. So is this set based on another battle fought on Geonosis? The reason I ask, is that I just happen to think it's a bit of a shame and a missed opportunity for Lego and collectors that the battle droids are tan instead of sand red, and the super battle droids are dark silver instead of blue as per the original Geonosis droids.

EDIT: Just had a quick look on Wookiepedia, and yes there is a second battle for the reasons I imagined. Unfortunately there is no real clue as to the colours of the droids.

the horror the horror

Astromech is still sideways, nose is still flat, cockpit is still not right, the fin in the back is still too large... it seems that LEGO doesn't want to redesign these Delta-7Bs. But then, this one doesn't even have the characteristic twin laser cannons?

Maybe they expect him to jump out and fight battle droids using kung fu (around 4:10).

It's occurred to me that the proton cannon resembles a Providence carrier's flak cannon on legs.

Just curious... why do the STAPs have wings?

Typical toymaker, trying to milk the design. Maybe not so typical considering this is LEGO.

Typical CW, reusing a design.

Those are very exaggerated plates for the pilot to stand on.

Thanks for the pics!

Well the starfighter is quite average. But then again the source material is quite average too. I feel someone like kit Fisto, Luminara, Barriss or Saesee would have been a better choice, but sadly most of them havent been in the show yet. :sceptic: But yet again Lego has outdone themselves on the astromech! I really do love these sets just because we get so much variation in the astromechs, though I would love it if they chose droids with the different shaped heads for even more variation. The Tactical droid looks nice and in nice colours too. I would love a close-up on his head now. But I wonder if the speeder is his? Cause it kinda looks like his legs may get in the way of him fitting. Its good that the staps are still standard. Its nice to have something that they just stick to and dont redesign the crap out of it. I will get this set just because I have all the starfighters so far and I dont really see where is set really fails. Its just the source material that fails.

I do love the Battle of Geonosis as well though! Its great that we are getting a brand new luminara minifig and its good to see the return of Rex. The speeder is still the same as in the battle pack. Does anyone know that the speeder in the episode is supposed to look the same? Or is it just Lego being lazy? The proton cannon droid seems solid. Looks well proportioned, and its good that a droid can operate it from the side. I still wonder if it has the big missile in the middle of it? Definite pick up for me. Awesome minifigs, solid set and a true CIS set which is something we dont see a lot these days!

I really don't think it's the color of the fighter that disappoints so much as the actual shape. From what I can see LEGO refuses to make any efforts toward replicating the streamlined look of the real Delta-7; there may be some non-Clone Wars fans who don't like the triangular design but I prefer it to this craptastic attempt at a triangle that LEGO has maintained since Anakin's fighter in '08. Why is everyone complaining about the color? The color does not affect the look at all! All of these Delta-7Bs have almost exactly the same shape; I really don't think making it green, purple, or some other color would improve the look. It's really LEGO's poor design and subsequent lack of improvement that fails.

Actually, I would consider the STAPs to be another of the lower points of this set because LEGO has been going downhill with them. The STAP in the 7654 Droid Battle pack was just a little too big; the blue one in the 7675 AT-TE was enormous. I consider scale to be the most important aspect with smaller vehicles where the driver or pilot is clearly visible since it is the impression of the driver on the vehicle that creates a lot of that vehicle's "look"; put another way, the vehicle is most recognizable when the driver is on it. When I saw the preliminary pictures of the new battlepacks and this ENORMOUS BARC speeder I couldn't even tell it WAS a BARC speeder.

What's with the exaggerated platforms anyway? The original LEGO STAPs didn't even HAVE platforms, probably because it was too small of a detail to include at minifigure scale.

Mace Windu's grey astro-droid is designated an R8-series as if the E-wing escort starfighter had been around during the Wars.

Well the speeder should be a lot SMALLER but LEGO just reused the same large design from the battlepack so I suppose it is just a case of LEGO being lazy.

You're right, they've completely ignored the twin laser cannons! WTH!? I failed to notice that at first, simply because of its 'ghastly unsightliness'. TLG surely is going in the wrong direction in redesigning their Delta 7Bs. Without sounding too rude, I think they should just stop making JSFs if they will not be doing it right (or even half-decent).

But among the choices that you gave, only Fisto's JSF has been shown in the series. Luminara has one but only appeared in a measly kid's trading card game. The other jedi don't have their JSFs yet, though Saesee seems will have one in the second half of Series 3:

Jedi Ace Saesee Tiin flying his starfighter. A new Delta 7-B design? (which I'm excited about). Or his own personal starfighter Sharp Spiral?

But I do agree the positive point about having JSFs is the introduction of new astromechs. I simply love these droids.

I don't mind the JSF so much, espicially seeing as it coems with two STAPs and a Tactical droid.

yea I agree, I really want some of the figures this set includes, same with the other special :classic:

Agreed on all points. JSF design seems to have gone downhill since 7143 set the basic framework in place, and even that one wasn't really that accurate.

I seriously doubt Saesee will get his old JSF back for CW- especially after the timeline was ruined and Anakin flies neither the Eta-2 nor Azure Angel.

I'm tempted by the astromechs as well, they're one of the few CW minifigs that don't look bad. The problem is the sets they come in.

Actually, with the new blue STAPs the stabilizer fins are quite large, though not as huge as Lego made them. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to make them in the right size so I think a little too big will just have to be passable.

I'm looking forward to this set anyways, a cheap way to get a Mace for some, but I can't wait for the Tactical Droid and R8 is just a bonus!:classic:

Who is the astro droid the JSF? It looks like the one in the Death Star (set 10188). I dont watch the CW 2008 TV series so I dont know.
