Walter Kovacs Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 hmm that little technic gear on front and clear box in the middle. Hopefully that will allow it to turn. It won't make it turn. You can see a clear technic gearbox under the cannon. If that small gear turns the worm, which will turn a larger gear, then that should...raise and lower the cannon? Is that right? Someone with Technic expertise needs to help me here, but I think that's what will happen. Edit: Taking a closer look, you can see that that is exactly what will happen. The axle connected to the larger gear passes through a few liftarms. Unfortunately the droid pilot will also rotate with the cannon. I don't think I like that at all, I'd rather the pilot stay level. He has a command console in front of him, he doesn't need to look at his target. Looking at the setup, I don't see any way for the cannon to swivel left or right. Also, that Technic cannon is shoved into the center pretty well. I don't hate it as much as I did when I first saw that in there. Quote
KimT Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 I see: Lightbrick Light blush gray 2x2 round brick with grill Meeow! Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Lightbrick That's a technic gearbox, not a lightbrick. And I think that is to make the cannon tilt up and down by turning the front gear, as you say WK. Quote

I stand corrected - I was just a little eager there Could have been great though to have light in that cannon instead of a clear technic gearbox Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 (edited) Great to see the hi-res pics of this one, thanks for sharing this grogall! I'm really sold on this set from Day One. The hi-res pic just confirms how great and very detailed are the prints for Luminara. But is her headdress a new mold or the same as the old one? (sorry I don't own the old Luminara fig). commanderneyo Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 It looks the same, I'm not completly sure though It looks similar but it also looks a bit like its Been Given the CW Treatment by TLG. Quote

The hi-res pic just confirms how great and very detailed are the prints for Luminara. But is her headdress a new mold or the same as the old one? (sorry I don't own the old Luminara fig). From this picture, I can confirm that it is the same headdress. As nice as the mechanism for the walker is, I don't see why they couldn't have just used a ball joint. How can it stand up? I don't recognize the black tubelike pieces attached to the legs. That's a very well concealed blunt missile launcher. I don't see why it's below the actual cannon though... The only way the battle droid can stay on the walker is with that handlebar. Interesting. Has anyone else noticed that even though the droid is a driver he still has a "straight" arm? Quote
Walter Kovacs Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Does anyone know what that black, shock absorber looking piece is on each of the legs? I've never seen a part like that before. Thanks in advance. Quote
Cad Bane Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Looking at the setup, I don't see any way for the cannon to swivel left or right. Actually in the TV show the canon turns by walking so that's accurate. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Does anyone know what that black, shock absorber looking piece is on each of the legs? I've never seen a part like that before. Here's the BL page. It's been used on a few of the newer fire vehicles, such as the fire truck in the most recent fire station as well as the massive offroad fire truck. It's just a new sort of extend-able mechanism, since it's made of the outer piece, on this set in black, and the inner grey piece that can extend out. Quote

Hopefully with that it won't be as flismy as the homing droid. So I guess Rex has to run behind Luminara on the speeder? Quote
The Legonater Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I just skimmed the last few pages, but is there really anything new, except that there's a higher percentage of new molds? Personally, I hope a new Maul mold wouldn't be good, seeing as that may lead to the possable Savaage getting the exact same mold- just repainted- which will just be incorrect. Quote
prateek Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Very nice. The clear gearbox is kinda weird, but I like the concept. Luminara's printing is awesome Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Ooh, new pics. Thanks for those, grogall! I'm guessing the reason you don't have Mace's JSF is because this one is from S&H, but only the January sets are currently (or will be soon) listed there? Anyways, I still don't really like the set. It's not as ugly as it looked in low-res, but I've already got Luminara and Rex, so I'll pass. Quote
BrickArtist Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Thanks for the pics grogall, that luminara suffered dearly from the CW treatment, I need her fig....suppose I'll get this set. Anybody else notice the similarity between the design on the top of the cannon, and one on palpatines shuttle? It's almost identical. Quote
RileyC Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Thanks heaps grogall! My mind still hasnt changed on this set, its pretty good. Its nice to have a close up of luminara now, she is pretty good. Though if you get a misprint she will look horrible because the torso and legs need to match up to make it work. I cant wait to put her next to barriss! Quote
Ceroknight Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 S@H has them up but not for sale Anyways great pictures of all the sets except Mace Windu's Starfighter.... *Battle of Geonosis is under classic for some reason... Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 S@H has them up but not for sale Anyways great pictures of all the sets except Mace Windu's Starfighter.... *Battle of Geonosis is under classic for some reason... Yeah, I mentioned that in the Availability topic. Is the JSF even listed? It shouldn't be, being a spring release. Not surprised they got categories mixed up- Anakin's JSF was listed under Classic, too. Did you try changing the country? Sometimes European residents can order them sooner. Quote
Cad Bane Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) The description for the Clone BP is weird. * Includes 4 minifigures: clone commander, 2 bomb squad clone troopers and 1 ARF clone trooper * Features 5 weapons! * Includes BARC speeder * Move the cannon turret! * BARC speeder measures 6” (15cm) long, 3” (7cm) wide What cannon turret? Stupid mistake. Also, the sets are only listed in the USA and Canada and even then they are listed as 'Not Available' but will probably be soon. The Battle for Geonosis has a really strange image of the cannon. Another note: I can only seem to get the images for Battle of Geonosis and both BP's. The rest just load, and load, and load and never show the pictures. Edited December 22, 2010 by Cad Bane Quote
Brickviller Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I had high hopes for the proton cannon thingy but now I've seen the pics on Lego shop I must say I don't like it well it saves me some money Link to Shop page Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) What's so strange about that pic? Or do you mean it just revelas how ugly the thing is? I actually see some pretty rare or useful parts there, though. EDIT: Wait- the Battle for Geonosis is 300+ parts for $29.99? That's over the 10:1 ratio! That's actually a good price! Great, now I'm tempted to buy the thing for some of the parts in the cannon... Edited December 22, 2010 by Brickdoctor Quote

Yeah it's seems really ugly for some reason, but hey, it's Lego so if people want to have a better one they can build their own. It seems it's $39,99 not $29,99, but I don't live in the US so I don't lnow of that's a good price Quote

Does't the first post of this topic say $29.99? $39.99 for 341 pieces isn't bad, but it's enough to deter me when the pieces would be the only thing I'd want. Maybe that'd change in the future, though, if there are discounts. Quote
