Brickdoctor Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Just one thing I can say really: 2011 is gonna be an amazing year for minifigs and sets alike. The new pics look awesome, and Eeth Koth and Ki-Adi-Mundi look amazing! I hope Lego doesn't change them like they did with Quinlan Vos with the T6, but he's back in the Frigate. Savage Opress looks really cool, but I'm not sure about accuracy (never seen s2 or 3 of CW). Captain Panaka looks great, and so does Maul, but the Infiltrator looks a bit too blocky.Sebulba looks kind of wierd, but really cool too. I'm not really suprised at the MF's Minifigs, but overall, looks to be a great wave. This Infiltrator looks better than the last one. Theinfiltrator is suppoed to have angular lines and gentle, subtle curves on its hull, and the 2007 one's use of slope bricks just didn't cut it. Quote

Yeah, it's supposed to be pretty sleek, but i don't like all the studs, and I don't think this will change in the final design, unless they tile the whole thing, which is unlikely. Quote
simonjedi Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 (edited) some comparison pics for you all. TheBrickHitHouse Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 The new sith infilitrator is clearly better - bigger, more mini figs...but, this couldn't ever be a classic set, ultimately what play features is it likely to have? The figs are a must have, imagine I'd buy the set but eBay the ship Quote
StoutFiles Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Plus people, before you go ranting on the new sets, remember that the pics we're seeing are preliminary designs and not final as such. No need to whine about set or minifig design - they're liable to change more than once before we see them as final products in June 2011. Could some of the designers read what people think about the sets? I'm just saying that by complaining about certain aspects of a set that they may go "well, that's true, we should fix that". Just a thought. Quote

The fact that these are Preliminary designs means that plenty of changes will be eventually made to look like the Characters or whatever to Please us about their looks. Remeber Sugi and Saesee Tinn and Embo's Preliminary Looks? Embo looked like some sort of a Monster Sugi looked like Cato Parasitti and Saesee Tinn looked Horrible but they all look perfect now. We just have to wait for the Complete Images to see them looking Like Themselves Properly Quote

It probably won't change that drastically between now and the release date. Besides, then it would be all jagged from the tiles. THe only way to effectively smooth it out would be with SNOT. some comparison pics for you all. brickbuilder Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Right, but if we all said "Wow, these all look great!" then they might consider not changing anything. By complaining we might possibly be changing things. But we don't think they're great. We know that they are prelims. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 But we don't think they're great. We know that they are prelims. I think that was kind of his point. Besides, if we don't point out the problems, this becomes one huge topic of people saying how great the sets are and what they're buying, with no discussion. The problem arises when people treat the prelims like finals in their complaints. The most common is people complaining about minifigures, which often require new molds or other parts and are thus rough around the edges in prelim pics. Quote
MrCustomizer Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 I don't know if this is common news, but at my local Target (in TX) they have th T6 Shuttle and Bounty Hunter Gunship. I snagged the Bounty Hunter one. :P ~MC Quote

I'm just saying that by complaining about certain aspects of a set that they may go "well, that's true, we should fix that". Just a thought. Agreed. If no one left constructive criticism on someone's MOC the MOCer would be left with a model that may or may not be awesome but nonetheless could be improved. The new Scimitar looks fine to me - besides, I've seen MOCs with a "studded" look, and they're all right. I'm glad LEGO has gone in that direction with the nose - those slope bricks on the last rendition were just too much. Quote

The infiltrator may be 60 dollars, this would continue TLGs trend of 60 dollar sets with 4 new figd(T6, Palpies shuttle, Arc-170). I'm hoping for 50, this would make it a great way to get a ton of grey plates. Quote

Fallenangel Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 That is a thing of beauty. Isn't it? But I think Reto may have done an even better (bigger?)job. Agreed. Isn't the nose of the Infiltrator just one huge cargo bay, though? Only if you're going off of LEGO's sets. Accordihg to the excellent resource you've located for us, there does seem to be a cargo storage section in the nose of the Scimitar, so maybe they've included some "devices of evil intent"? A working ramp would have been nice as well... we haven't seen the back yet, so there's still hope for that. Of course, the old printed piece would be more likely. Such a shame. Quote
Aethersprite Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I do hope Lego gives us new prints for existing CW characters that are undergoing the new costume updates. Asajj Ventress seems to have new prints for her torso and legs, and is missing that awful skirt. Hopefully Anakin and Obi-Wan will get updated as well. Quote

I was actually going off a picture I saw on Wookieepedia; the dimensions looked pretty wierd, but it looked plausible. The nose's wider part was a cargo bay for probes, equipment, and the bike, and forward of that was maintenance crawlspace and a smaller cargo bay. Quote

Delta 38 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Actually, though those are gone, the Star Wars images are still available for a limited time Here. Act quickly though as these are sure to be deleted soon and good luck to those who have yet to see them. Thanks for that link, though I already have the first ones saved. I can't decide if I want the frigate or not. It looks nice, but it also looks rather expensive. I don't have any of the included Jedi either. The Sith Infiltrator looks much bigger (at least to me), but its lineup of figures pretty much guarantees a spot in my collection, plus its easy compatibility with the minifigs from the Podracers. Diaaabo Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 The second wave seems much better than the first one. However, I'm more interested in the minifigs than on the sets themselves. My list resumes itself to the new clone BP, from which I will dispose of the orange guys via BL; two V-Wings; one or two droid carriers; Mace JSF and Geonosis set; and only the minifigs from the T6 and the Gunship. As for the Summer wave, my interests go to the Ewok Attack, Dathomir Speeder, Geonosian SF and the Frigate. The rest will be only for the minifigs. The podracers do look nice tho. Quote
Zzz Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 After seeing the better pics I am severely disappointed with the Ewok set. Upgrades are not always getting better it seems (AT-AT as well). Compared to other OT 26€ sets (Landspeeder and Echo Base) it's really not that much. A new Ewok, a Rebel, Luke, Stormie and Scoutie with a speeder bike and a nice tree would have been it. Not this... thing. On the other hand, that Sith Infiltrator looks very very nice. I don't have one yet and highly regret not getting the last one. I just hope it has some nice storage and lots of it, but I am afraid the ingenious opening mechanism of the previous model isn't there anymore. Still, just a beautiful ship and a nice version, lovely minifigs and something that looks like a cool landing gear! Quote

But the last Infiltrator just had a normal hinge used for opening. Quote
