Hi,

do the blue versions of the minisets 30005, 3000x really exists? If yes, where can I find/buy them? I only saw the first - daily mirror - colours yet...

Thanks for your help.

greetings Hendrik

The blue bag version of 30005 most certainly exists because I have one. I got it at TRU they were selling them there before Christmas in the United States. I honestly don't know if the other promos have blue bag versions as well or where these sets are available in other countries.

Oh, most of us have seen the summer wave pics. But they are all watermarked "Confidential" and so cannot be deeplinked here yet. Trust me, as soon as official pics show up, this thread will be talking about them. Again.

Currently appearing at the toy industry's Fall Toy Preview in Dallas is a pair of items that LEGO fans and collectors might find interesting -- the LEGO Star Wars ZipBin® Battle Bridge and LEGO Star Wars ZipBin TIE Fighter carry case/playmats. Here's some photos and descriptions of the two, which will be available sometime next year from Neat-Oh! International:

LEGO Star Wars ZipBin Battle Bridge Carry Case & Playmat

Set up the bridge inside the case so that lightsaber duels can take place and see which minifigures will make it across and which ones will fall! Unzip the case to reveal the entire battle station. When the battle ends, zip up the case and capture all of your favorite LEGO Star Wars bricks inside so they are ready for the next battle! Product dimensions are 9"L x 5.5"H x 9"W.LEGO Star Wars ZipBin TIE Fighter Carry Case & Playmat

The Death Star is under attack! Straight from the original Star Wars movie, the TIE advanced X1 is Darth Vader's personal starfighter! This carry case will blow you away! Take your favorite LEGO Star Wars bricks anywhere. When unzipped, the TIE Fighter case becomes the Death Star trench with Darth Vader's control room on one end, perfect for plotting the demise of the Rebel Alliance. Embrace the dark side!!! Product dimensions are 12"L x 6.75"H x 8"W.

I notice they apparently decided to print the blue TIE Advanced from '04, when they did a nice grey one recently. :sceptic:

You did? I must've forgotten amidst all the other chit chat in between then and now. I was just deeplinking what The Lego Man! linked to.

EDIT: Guess I forgot to read the whole article, which is dated October 2010.

Not entirely broken.

Let's have a chat.

I see a gap where the nose section should transition into the rest of the ship on the Scimitar which doesn't look too great. On the other hand, I also see some Technic which suggests a hinge; what do you all suppose it might do?

The attachment points for the panels appear too scrawny, which I suspect would create some aesthetically unpleasing gaps in the ship when viewed from the side. But what I really don't like is that it looks even more pronounced here than on the last rendition. Eh - at least they're centered this time.

I don't like how the rear edge of the mandibles on the Falcon just hang out; it makes them look like they've been slapped on as an afterthought (an issue that was not unpronounced in the 4504).

Anyone else here think this might end up looking too fat? I mean, they've got the hull sloping above the level of the docking pods (again)!

Edit: Nevermind. So Maul does have horns- I just really don't like the way they're done. I'll wait untill Febuary to mke a final judgement though. iS IT JUSt me, or does Padme have a new hairpiece? I'm loving the gold in Panaka's hat.

Those pods look great! It appears as through Skywalker has a new helmet mold, and from the front Sebulba looks really creepy. The new Watta fig is sweet, however. As for the others, it looks like more of the same.

I think the schimitar opening will be very similar to the venator of last year, only scaled down. It looks to be the same. I don't see, or don't understand what you are saying about the falcon though, the mandibles look fine to me, but every source I see the mandables have a different size when compared to the rest of the ship  , I can't wait to see if maul will have a new head mould or a hat thing to wear for horns, cause I can see he definitely has horns in that pic!

Ah, I see...

It's not so much the size that really stands out (though they do appear too small) as the fact that the rear edge of the starboard mandible stops short of the cockpit. If you look at images of the beautiful 32" studio model  used in Empire you can see that that area of the ship is very much filled in. In addition, that cockpit is ridiculously disproportionate to the main body of the ship.

The studio model and the films are the most accurate sources of the ship you'll see because they portray the actual ship. Most toys, video games, and model kits, tend to alter the proportions of the ships for whatever reason. (Battlefront II is a good example of this.) This is especially true for LEGO sets. The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels do not portray the ships as accurately as some would like either. A good example of this is their depiction of the Tantive IV; they've obviously shortened the main engines, making them look fat, and omitted the main reactor section between the main engines and the docking pods entirely.

I think the 2x3 wing plates might also have something to do with it, as is evident with 10179, which also used 2x3 wing plates, in this picture.

Okay, I see what your saying now, and I agree, but I don't see a way around that that would be easy for the designers, I guess it will just be our job to mod as we see fit, and the cockpit, I knew that was disproportionate from the start! , it'd be interesting to see how I will fix it somewhat.

Maybe I should have said the port mandible, since that's the one you can see in the preliminary. As far as fixing goes, LEGO already solved that issue with SNOT as shown here and here (not the most presentable solution, but a bit of work can fix that). Still, if you really wanted to make this as aesthetically pleasing as possible I think you would have to start from scratch - I'm not a big fan of how they did the hull, since it leaves those nasty gaps everywhere. Stacked/angled plates would be the way to go.

Hmm. Were it not for the minifigs, I think I might be tempted to pass on all of these. The MF is looking pretty ugly, the Infiltrator has that ugly white thing, the Pods are chock full of pieces I'd never use, Ewok Attack is more of an Ewok-on-play-function-base-with-scout, and the Nantex is a chunk of stickered brown.

I totally agree with what fallenangel said, I realize these are prototypes, but no matter what they do with the figures, unless that set is totally redone (and I don't expect it to be), it's a pass. Ironic, isn't it. I'm going to have to pass on the flagship OT set to buy all the PT ones with all those great minifigs. :hmpf_bad:

Of course, if it's everything we've hoped for, Echo Base could turn the whole line around for me...

The worst part for me is that, as it stands right now, it appears you can't put a hood on Maul. I just don't think he looks right without one.

I think Panaka's hat is the new Hoth helmet piece in maroon, with a gold visor, but that could just be me...

Hopefully we will have better non-preliminary pictures before March :classic:
