That guy demonstrating the MF has no idea what he's talking about. If that's any indication, it's no wonder the Halo engines were on backwards during the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

The MF's features look greatly improved, though I do notice they scrapped the escape pod from the previous System versions, but that's forgivable since the smuggling compartment that took it's place is much more recognizable. (it's actually show; the pod is only mentioned) I'm kinda disappointed they didn't add the maintenance pit, but seeing as that's an ESB scene and this is an AnH model, that's forgivable.

Anyone who owns the LSW Visial Dictionary read the interview at the back. The designer reveals that they set their own part counts, and decide the minifigures. He says that some models are built then priced, like the ucs MF. Something tells me the pods were too...

New speeder (Ewok's attack): I like it that it is very different from previous versions, it also seems closer to the real kind than ever. Too bad the rest of the set is a... tree and two ewoks, would have loved this speeder in a scout trooper battle pack (Maybe in the 30-th anniversary for return of the Jedi...)

Dathomir Speeder: That's ...just silly, although I guess we can blame CW for the silly idea.

Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator: I really see no reason to have Padme and the naboo general in it, other than justifying a higher price, I guess. The star fighter looks ok, albeit generic.

7962: This is awesome, Zebulba's podrace looks just great and realistic. Zebulba does not look like a fairy, we get the strange two-legs alien, and Anakin's pod race is fine.

Republic Frigate: Looks like it will be a large, expensive model with little to show for, except for maybe Joda, but there are going to be much better chances to get him...

Millennium Falcon: It is so great there is a Millenium Falcon with great minifigs, albeit I would have prefered C3PO and R2D2 instead of Vader, to complete the whole MF crew, but Vader is not half bad. This is one of those sets that anyone will be able to recognize, so it is going to be great for display. And it looks like it will also be fun to build. However, I can only imagine that the price will make it an unrealizable dream for me. In fact, the largest SW sets don't even arrive to my retailer, so I don't think it will even be available. First thing I would buy if I win the lottery.

Awesome pics thanks so much Grogall!

Its great that Anakin has a new torso. The old one was really getting out dated, and quick! Im glad they got rid of Asajj's dress thing cause I really do think that looked hideous. Though I find it disappointing they didnt redo her lightsabres in the new metallic colour. Its still in the bley like before. :hmpf_bad: The nightspeeder looks decent. While it looks accurate to what it looks like in CW it is quite boring. Just lots of slopes being SNOTed. The Geonosian Starfighter looks quite good. The geonosian does have some good detail but from seeing the other photos from Sir Steve Ki Adi's head piece doesnt seem to look right on his head. It must be another type of plastic, probably the soft rubber like Yoda's head because it may be sharp for the little kiddies. But I will see how the NZ pricing goes for this set to consider picking it up. Its great that Darth Maul has a hod and the new head piece. From these pics it looks like like it sits really well and flush with the stud. Definitely a major plus. Definitely a must buy. The Podracers are perfect in my opinion. Im loving the stands for them cause they really capture the Tantooine look. The millennium falcon is also a must get. Luke's hair from the other photos looks actually pretty good. His great it includes his other helmet and I can definitely see some customization options for it. A must get also.

I have to say this is turning out to be one of the best waves in the last couple of years.

I think Sebulba's engines are slight different than the real ones, but who cares because they look awesome and massive!

Does anyone else think this too?

It's pretty accurate. The Power Miner wheels are too big, but the shape is just perfect.

Great! Finally some really good pics! Thanks Grogall!

Although I almost wish I had never seen them, as I now need them all so desperately. As everyone is saying, I think this is one of the best SW waves thus far. The podracers are brilliant, Ewok Attack (apart from that bit of the speeder) is very nice, the R. Frigate is awesome, and the MF, while still not perfect (the cockpit) is in my opinion the best system scale rendition so far.

Congrats to the Lego designers! They've made many a collector's day, including myself :classic: .

I am really glad to see all these new great sets. For once, the SW line seems to be getting stronger and more balanced. The first wave I really like since 2007, in my opinion, the best and most well-rounded year for the theme. I won't be able to afford all of this sets and there will probably be a big OT set later this year (The rumored Cloud City) so I will just comment in the ones I am sure I will get .

Anakin and Sebulba Podracers: I honestly can't be more happy! Since I started collecting LSW, I have wanted at least one podracer and never was able to get one at all. Last year, the rumor of this set came out and I was more than excited. Then, we saw the preliminary pics and the sets looked like a dream come true. Well, the Toy Fair just turned them into one of the best sets I have ever seen. Anakin's Podracer looks great for a vehicle of that size. The subtle details around the front engine are are amazing and the size looks about right in terms of scale. Sebulba's Podracer is the real winner here. This has to be one of the best vehicle the LSW team has ever desgined. The amount of details in those engines is astonishing. The grilled front, the middle white strip perfectly integrated at the sides, the whole back are, the greatly improved cockpit. I can go on and on and don't really summarize the details. The stands are a great idea. The fact that the base of each one tries to replicate the dusty surface of Tattoine is a plus. The minifigures are perfect. Wald, Anakin and Obi-Wan are a bonus compared to Sebulba and, especially, Watto. Sebulba looks like an actual Dug this time and Watto has the potential to become my new favorite minifigure. I have always wanted to own a Toydarian and the details in Watto are unbelievable. Can't really understand how much the TLC has progressed in minifigure quality terms this last three years. This is one of my dream sets.

Ewok Attack: Definitely not as great as the magnificent Podracers but a really amazing set non the less. The tree is little but detailed and full of green (Something not seen a lot nowadays). The Speeder Bike is fairly generic but a nice addition for a set this size (Because, really, wishing for an AT-ST would have been a bit unrealistic). The minifigure selection is the real highlight. The Biker Scout is a great kind of troop I will gladly add to my collection once again. The detaile on the new Ewoks is amazing. The markings, the color and the fact the TLC went the extra mile and gave us not only one but TWO totally new Ewoks instead of recycling the ones in the Battle of Endor is what solds me on the set. Another must-own set.

The more I look at the new Podracers, the more I wish the TLC releases at least one more set with them. A new Mawhonic, Aldar Beedo or Gasgano will do with me but if they want to simply make me pass away then, well, they will release the Ben Quadrinaros' Podracer as a S@H exclusive of some kind .

there's new pics going up on fbtb's flickr as we speak:

My link

Thanks for the link!

I have hoped for a better and smooth transition, but it seems the separation line of Ki-Adi's headpiece with his head is quite noticeable. Now I wish they just made his head in one piece like the Rodian and Mon Calamari ones.

I'm VERY dissapointed with these models. :/

The Ewok attack : the tree looks like a building, not like a tree. It may be the price to pay to have some features : catapult, logs, and opening.

Ewoks are very nice. It may be cool to get many of this set to get many part to build trees.

The Millenium Falcon : haha, what a fail when I compare it to 4504. -_-'

The under side with all the Technic bricks is definitely über ugly. :o

The inside looks very sad too. It is grey grey grey and grey. :/

As for the overall design, I can not denied that the designers did not a good job. Like 4504, the model was NOT designed as a whole thing, but as a circle with 2 "horns" at the front.

On both sides of the MF, 2x2x2 slopes do not suit well. They look too blocky.

The podracers :

The minifigs are awesome. Really.

The podracer of Sebulba is very well designed with a lot of details, both on the engines and the pod.

On the contrary, Ani's podracer is just ridiculous. The shape of the pod is not accurate at all and the engines looks very poor.

The trans-clear support are better than the tan support, that's sure, but they are still ugly anyway.

The Frigate :

The overall design looks good.

But :

- it is just a remake of 7665

- the ship would have been MUCH more beautyful if it was white+dark red. Cause here, the model is dull.

The playbility may be good and the interior well detailled.

As for the figs : fail. We got 2 Indians.

The Dathomir speeder :

Haha, I laugh a lot when I look at this set. I made such models when I was 5 !

This set is among the five ugliest Star Wars sets ever produced by TLG since 1999.

We can see that model will have both stickers and printed parts. Generally, I enjoy printed parts.

In this case, I would say the less printed parts the better : it will enable to recycle the parts to built something else (I can not even imagine someone keeping this model built for a long time).

The figs of this set : no comment. --'

The Sith Infiltrator :

This is a ship I really do not like for several reasons. But the Lego model is quite accurate (though not perfect).

The minifig are very cool ! :D

The Geonosian Fighter :

I don't care of this set too. We see it only few seconds in the movie. So, it is not at all representative of the star wars universe.

But the ship is ok and quite accurate. The minifigs are interesting. But the clone... Next year we will get a rainbow clone. With blue, yellow, red, green, orange, etc. @-@

A clone is a clone. The principle of the clones is that they are supposed to be all the same.

Conclusion : TLG HAS TO think to ships first and then to minifigs. It is currently definitely not the case.

Until TLG focuses first on minifigs and then design a ship, it will never be able to design good sets.

Oh God, it looks like he had a lobotomy. Had no idea the headpiece 'seam' was that noticeable.

Otherwise, great pics!

The Falcon's looking a bit more 'healthy, assuaging some of my concerns, but the mandible/dish gap is more noticeable than ever. Also, no idea what's with the large technic blocks underneath. Is the new set THAT fat? New Luke hair is probably the best that could be said about the minifig selection here.

Love the Republic Frigate minifigs... Not so keen on the ship though, it seems like another of the RBR/Republic Cruiser-build sets and I already have those two. Oh boy will this hurt the wallet.

Podracers: Huge improvements over the last versions. Great minifig selection. Those stands/support struts are unsightly though

Sith Infiltrator: Looks like an improvement, but considering how 'sleek' (albeit fragile) the last set was, this one's decked in studs for what otherwise should be a very sexy smooth ship. Judgement will depend on what extra features it's packing.

TOY_1220_resize.JPG

Just noticed the underside (this thread moves very fast sometimes) and ewwww. There's a lot of room for improvement thankfully. First thing for anyone would be to scrap those Flick-fire missiles instantly, then board up the large gaps between beams with some flat panels. Some large block pieces would 'fill' out the shape very nicely (like the UCS). My main concern then would be whether the ship has become too 'fat' or not with the added bulk.

A question: Reading through this board, it seems for a large number of people, this would be their first system MF. Is there a reason why the 4504 didn't sell very well, or didn't appeal to you at the time? If it was a $ issue, it seems strange to wait years later for a set. With inflation and Lego pricing, this set would likely cost 2-3x as much as I paid for my own 4504.

A clone is a clone. The principle of the clones is that they are supposed to be all the same.

The principle is that what is the same strives for difference, while what is different has to be uniformed.

As for your overall criticism: if I wanted "accurate" Star Wars models I wouldn't buy Lego.

Personally, I think that 7965 is an improvement compared to 4504.

The only thing I really don't like is the head design of Eeth Koth. I'm not yet sure about Ki-Adi Mundi, Opress, and Maul, but they are not as bad designed as Eeth Koth.

Conclusion : TLG HAS TO think to ships first and then to minifigs.

I do not see that this any conclusion at all; this is simply your personal opinion.

Oh God, it looks like he had a lobotomy. Had no idea the headpiece 'seam' was that noticeable.

In Clone Wars, the "seam" is pretty obvious:

well, from my point of view, I started off getting random small sets, on impulse as I saw them in the shops, and then concentrated on collecting the minifigs, so generally bought sets off ebay - at the time, I think I may have just missed the original falcon as a "new" set, and I've never really seen it at a reasonable second-hand price, and in any case, it's not until recently that I've had enough disposable income to happily buy large sets new as they come out, generally not including UCS sets...sigh... - having just got all of the present wave, I now have a short breathing space until the summer wave - for which my wallet is thankful - and I'll be looking forward to finally getting a MF - although where I'll put it is another problem - space is becoming a problem...

As far as the other sets go, sadly, it looks as if I'll have to get most if not all of them - despite already having 2 versions of the sith infiltrator already, not being a fan of the pod racers, and not being keen on random vehicles from THE Clone Wars - but, although I do just want them for the minifigs, unfortunately I regard it as "cheating" to get figs en-masse from BL - it's one thing getting a missing fig from a hard-to-find set, but getting lots of new ones from existing sets is just beyond the pale (for me at any rate, I don't mind what other people do :-) )

C'mon guy ! Open your eyes !

During the lasts 2 years, it is just plain obvious that the policy of TLG in the SW theme is to put everything on the minifigs.

As for not buying Lego sets because they are not accurate, yes, I agree.

I do not buy Lego sets Either.

I do MOCs. Like many other people. They are accurate. And believe me : they are made out of Lego bricks !

the figs in the frigate are boost and sinker

not sure if we will get both

it's worth getting rid of one for the commander wollfe

Uhm no one is Wolffe and the other is a normal Wolfpack Trooper.

I don't know if this was already posted, but here are two new items I spotted from fbtb's flickr page:

9003448 - Boba Fett Watch (32 pieces)

9003882 - Cad Bane Watch (34 pieces)

5444160463_24ed7d836d.jpg

An alternative (cheaper?) way to get both minifigs.

Oh and I see we're finally getting a new shade of trans-green lightsabers. :sweet:

It is a shame they didn't keep that helmet, now the only difference between the blue clones are the antennae and the kama :sceptic:

I wonder why Vos isn't smiling, I have never seen him that angry in The Clone Wars...

The new watches are nice, but they are too expensive; I prefer the key chains, the small hole in the head is worth the 16 € saved

I'm thinking because they wanted him to be more like what he isn't in the Clone Wars. Like from what I know he was a grouchy Jedi in anything other than the Clone Wars and i'm not sure if its true but he got on badly with Clones and disrespected them so maybe Lego wanted to make it seem like that Vos.

and that Geonosian is so ugly!

Would you ever want to marry this? :hmpf::laugh:

They're supposed to be ugly 'buggers', and the color is much more accurate than the older version.

As is the new head mold, and the same goes for the prints. It's just missing a pair of wings. I'm not expecting them to add these,

which is a pity, really. :sceptic:

Does anybody read my posts? Yes Yoda is holding a nice new printed hologram.

Sorry, I overlooked it since there are lots of new posts each day, and I couldn't be bothered checking back just to see if anyone else already pointed that out. But it doesn't really matter, does it? It comes to people's attention much better that way, although I didn't intend to be the second person to point it out. It might just help decreasing the amount of people complaining about the accurate hole.

I wonder who's the person on the hologram, though.

I'd have preferred if they could just have made a transparent minifig trophy, with a grey bottom. This is pretty much fine too, though.

Well, these Toy Fair pictures don't really change a lot for me, besides for the fact that Padme clearly has the same head as Hermione! That really sucks... LEGO is willing to redesign old figures and design tons of new ones, but they can't make a new face for Padme? Geez.

Ki-Adi's head piece does look absolutely terrible. Besides for the big gap between his head and the piece, what's with that huge protrusion on the front? He doesn't look like that. The face is great, though, as are the other new Jedi. I still can't tell if Vos is the normal flesh color or the darker shade, but now it seems like the regular light one, which is good.

Hopefully the two identical Clones will change so that Commander Wolffe has a different design, but I doubt it's going to happen. Oh well, new Clones are new Clones.
