Mr. Elijah Timms Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Meh. Put me down for an Ewok Attack. Otherwise, pending the Echo Base unveiling, I think that's it for LSW for me this year. Quote
j30spiff Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Not a fan of Darth Maul's little crown, makes his head look too large. I prefer the black hood. Since you mentioned the new Darth Maul minifig, I really don't like his new face. He looks like he got punched in the nose and the rest of his face got sucked in. Quote

CF Mitch Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Hopefully the two identical Clones will change so that Commander Wolffe has a different design, but I doubt it's going to happen. Oh well, new Clones are new Clones. If you look at the box art, Wolffe's helmet seems to have different... art, than the other trooper does. Other than that, I'm mainly hoping for Wolffe's head to be different, with the eye patch-thingy and all. But you're right about Mundi. On a picture posted a few days ago I thought I saw his head being one piece, which looked absolutely perfect. But now it's two pieces again, with the edge a bit too clear in my opinion. And it looks like the 'tail' is on the front of his head Regards, Mitch Quote
KimT Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 I don't know if this was already posted, but here are two new items I spotted from 9003448 - Boba Fett Watch (32 pieces) 9003882 - Cad Bane Watch (34 pieces) An alternative (cheaper?) way to get both minifigs. --- Oh and I see we're finally getting a new shade of trans-green lightsabers. Thanks Kiel. blogged And the new sabre colour looks great - oddly we're back to having bubbles again Quote
Penitent Tangent Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 In Clone Wars, the "seam" is pretty obvious: http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/7/75/KiAdiMundiGeonosis-LaPR.jpg http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/galleries/2010/Review_KiAdiMundiTCW/Review_KiAdiMundiTCW_stillA.JPG I think he means where you can tell where the head piece is fitted onto the minfigs head, not the huge forehead bump. I do think it looks pretty bad, but it was fine in most of the other pictures, so perhaps it's not fitted correctly or just the angle. I don't really mind the underside of the MF though, it's pretty ugly, but I'm never going to see it. Oh and I do like the new lightsaber colours. I wonder what they'll do for Ahsoka though, her new lightsaber is a completely different shade of green from everyone else's. Quote
Lance Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) The new green lightsabers look like they can glow in the dark. Edited February 14, 2011 by Lance Quote
Surfer Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 It's pretty accurate. The Power Miner wheels are too big, but the shape is just perfect. Yes, I meant on that part. I checked in the movie and they really are too big. But the rest looks totaly awesome and 90% I'm buying it. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) As for not buying Lego sets because they are not accurate, yes, I agree. I do not buy Lego sets Either. I do MOCs. Like many other people. They are accurate. And believe me : they are made out of Lego bricks ! I agree. I don't buy sets. I buy parts packs! I don't know if this was already posted, but here are two new items I spotted from fbtb's flickr page: 9003448 - Boba Fett Watch (32 pieces) 9003882 - Cad Bane Watch (34 pieces) [snip] An alternative (cheaper?) way to get both minifigs. The watches usually go for $19.99, so for Boba it's like saving a little on BL price and getting the watch, but unless you want the watch I wouldn't get the Bane one because he's retailing for around $12 on BL. Oh and I see we're finally getting a new shade of trans-green lightsabers. [snip] Nice. The new green lightsabers look like they can glow in the dark. Not really. I can tell these are transparent and smooth surfaced, and LEGO glow in the dark elements are always a lighter color, opaque, and a sort of matte feel to them. I could be wrong, it's been a long time since I bought a glow in the dark set, but these don't look like that to me.By the way, I notice on FBTB's flickr, the release date is back to the normal August for those of us in the US. EDIT: And I notice that the Dathomir Speeder Nightspeeder is a May release. Edited February 14, 2011 by Brickdoctor Quote
General Magma Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Also, to any of the SW regulators, I wanted to correct a small mistake from the first post: The battle droid included with the Naboo starfighter is actually a security droid, not a pilot. ~ General Magma Quote
-JD- Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Hey! Those are two Wolfpack troopers! Wolffe isn't there- his helmet has different printing! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Hey! Those are two Wolfpack troopers! Wolffe isn't there- his helmet has different printing! On the box art they're different, but apparently Wolffe's only final distinction is the ARC gear. Quote
Fives Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) These pics are fantastic! I've be looking at them all day! The sets themselves are pretty darn good, but the minifigs! I don't think there is a single one (minus the ones we have already seen) without back printing! And the abundancy of double sided heads! Qui-Gon is my favourite! Anyway, I will probably go after the MF and the two TPM sets first, but hold off on the others until I have more money. (and yes, I realize these aren't out yet). EDIT: I KNEW it about those new green blades! Edited February 14, 2011 by Fives Quote
Muddy Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Hey! Those are two Wolfpack troopers! Wolffe isn't there- his helmet has different printing! Maybe it is like Luke's hair and was in case not with frigate... (see video) It would be a shame for Wolfe to be the same - I wanted a picture helmet off... Would have been cool to get him in an "out of armor rotation suit" Ki Adi's head seems like a logistics thing cheaper to make helmet than head...ditto with printing the seem is needed because it needs to pop off according to many different rules - see safety laws of a few dozen countries Quote
1eyedjoker Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Since you mentioned the new Darth Maul minifig, I really don't like his new face. He looks like he got punched in the nose and the rest of his face got sucked in. His face is scrunched like a sphincter? I think I'll stick with the 2007 Darth Maul. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 One thing has not been talked about yet......availability......that is who is getting what ? We all know that TRU get an exclusive or three.....I know along the grapevine that the MF is a general release set (though I will try and confirm with Lego Australia on that), so which new set is going to TRU or Target....remember Target is other retailer that get a CW exclusive set each year ? Clone OPatra Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 One thing has not been talked about yet......availability......that is who is getting what ? And, in addition to CallMePie's answer, the Store Exclusives do not usually appear at Toy Fair. I think these are all regular releases. Quote
j30spiff Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 On the box art they're different, but apparently Wolffe's only final distinction is the ARC gear. What a shame, if the only distinction is the ARC gear then I'm completely disappointed. I was really looking forward to a new Clone Commander and Clone Trooper. The only thing that could have made this set better is if Commander Wolffe had a distinct head. Quote
Churchill Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) I do MOCs. Like many other people. They are accurate. And believe me : they are made out of Lego bricks ! As much as I don't want to admit it, I don't think these sets look good overall. I will still probably get most of these, but I'm surprised at how I'm thinking... I'll get the Ewok attack, thinking of it as sort of a "battle pack" for Endor. I'll be able to use the figures, the extra bike, and the tree, to go with other Endor things. I might get the Republic Cruiser- I don't have the red one, and I like the overall look of this- though I'm not convinced about the play features, and the flicks. I had high hopes for the Sith Infiltrator. But seeing it open is a huge disappointment. There is virtually no interior. So how is that an improvement? I have the UCS Falcon, but have considered getting the new one for playability. But I think that the bottom of the ship looks bad. Really bad. Almost as if Lego paid no attention to it whatsoever. Dathomir Speeder- I've been thinking about this. I think that the prototype is not a good looking ship. But the Lego model is good. A good representation of a bad ship. It got me to thinking. Many of us who prefer the OT/PT criticize the CW ships as just being excuses to sell more ships... but you have to give Lego credit for making an accurate model. So... given that I don't understand the fascination with pod racing... how are "pod racers" any different than this speeder? Everyone drools all over the pod racers, which, to me, are just as ridiculous as the Dathomir Speeder. You'd think that a good pod racer model was the ultimate desire of any SW Lego fan, rather than a good x-wing, TIE, or Republic Attack Shuttle, for example. Is it a case of being biased, because pod racing is from the movies and not the CW? Just in case there's any confusion, I'm actually trying to defend the CW here. The figures have become amazingly detailed. But some of these head pieces look just silly. All of the new Jedi heads are poorly executed. So, in conclusion, I too think that Lego is focusing on the figures. But I wonder if they're trying too hard. In an effort to make them more detailed, and more "accurate," they end up with ridiculous head attachments. They don't even look like minifigures anymore. I don't have an original Darth Maul, but now that I see the new one up close, I think I'd rather have the old. I'm buying Lego, and I want it to look like Lego. Not an action figure! Overall ship design just doesn't look as good to me... maybe it's true... the ships are suffering for the minifigures, and the minifigures just aren't working. I'm starting to feel like I'm going to do my own mocs. After all, that's the whole point of Lego. Why deal with the limitations that Lego has with set design, when I can build something better myself? I know, I know, these sets are designed for kids to play with. Not adults. But even when it comes to the kids, it seems like Lego is focusing more on the figs and neglecting the ships no matter who the sets are for. All of this is opinion, so I don't want to start any big uproar. But for me, I wish I could just buy the minifigs (besides off of Bricklink) and I'll build my own ships. If only I could get more of the black, grey, white, unusual ship parts just like I can get the old standard red 2x4.... Edited February 14, 2011 by Churchill Quote
Fives Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Is it just me, or do the leaves in some of the pictures of the Ewok set look droopy? Also, Padme has the same face as Hermione and Leia looks a lot Like Princess Tamina from Prince of Persia. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Also, Padme has the same face as Hermione and Leia looks a lot Like Princess Tamina from Prince of Persia. Yeah, we noticed. Apparently TLG spent too much on all those new molds to give us new prints. Quote
Fives Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Yeah, we noticed. Apparently TLG spent too much on all those new molds to give us new prints. I would gladly take new molds over new prints for female figs whose prints can usually look similar. I love all the new molds, except the Zabrak horns for Maul and Savage. The one on Maul makes his head too tall (that rhymed) and Savage has mis-coloured horns on the front of his head. Quote

Oh I agree in that molds are usually better than prints. But these molds aren't exactly the greatest and some balance between the to would've been nice. This year, we're getting five new alien Jedi molds, all of which are fairly complicated and all of which have some faults. (Shaak's is the best, IMO Eeth's is the worst) If we had gotten only two but those were the slightly more expensive traditional one-piece heads and good prints for everyone, I'd be happier. sok117 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 ugh, I now this isn't the place to rant about prices, but I'm gonna do it anyways why is the sith infiltrator $89.99 CND?!?! It looks really half-assed on the pictures of it, the bottom is ugly, the speeder is , and just the price makes it so terrible, it's a 30 dollar price hike for the Canadian dollar, even though the Canadian dollar is around the same value as the American dollar now, that is the biggest rip off ever, and the "storage" area is dreadful, its just a couple plates! And Qui-Gon doesn't even look good anymore! These prices are just getting ridiculous, whens TLC gonna stop with the increases? Will a set like Ewok Attack eventually cost $50? It's so like TLC to raise the prices exponentially on their best selling line, and IMO completely unfair, hopefully people can see how they are being ripped off when they compare sets in the toy store, cause this is just sad IMO. Sorry for the rant, but I feel I needed to say it. Quote
