Oh I agree in that molds are usually better than prints. But these molds aren't exactly the greatest and some balance between the to would've been nice. This year, we're getting four new alien Jedi molds, all of which are fairly complicated and all of which have some faults. (Shaak's is the best, IMO Ki-adi's is the worst) If we had gotten only two but those were the slightly more expensive traditional one-piece heads and good prints for everyone, I'd be happier.

You think Ki-Adi's is the worst? *huh* Have you seen Eeth Koth? *oh2*

Also, I think Saesee Tinn's was pulled off pretty well, and he is my fav fig of the winter wave.

Yeah I'm still wondering why Eeth Koth's head piece looks like he's wearing a cracked eggshell over his head, with horns on it.

You see? He was so awful that I forgot about him completely.

I'm not so sure about Saesee's but he definitely would've looked better with a one-piece head, I think.

I finally went and watched all of FBTB's function videos, and those pods are looking really good with the removable stand and pistol grip. The trans-clear Technic liftarms look sort of sloppily connected to the engines; I would've preferred them under the engines and not in between them. This way it looks like a second power coupling.

ugh, I now this isn't the place to rant about prices, but I'm gonna do it anyways

why is the sith infiltrator $89.99 CND?!?! It looks really half-assed on the pictures of it, the bottom is ugly, the speeder is  , and just the price makes it so terrible, it's a 30 dollar price hike for the Canadian dollar, even though the Canadian dollar is around the same value as the American dollar now, that is the biggest rip off ever, and the "storage" area is dreadful, its just a couple plates! And Qui-Gon doesn't even look good anymore! These prices are just getting ridiculous, whens TLC gonna stop with the increases? Will a set like Ewok Attack eventually cost $50? It's so like TLC to raise the prices exponentially on their best selling line, and IMO completely unfair, hopefully people can see how they are being ripped off when they compare sets in the toy store, cause this is just sad IMO.

Sorry for the rant, but I feel I needed to say it.

I totally agree with you. I was considering to order these sets from the US because of how the Canadian dollar is pretty much at par with the US dollar, but I considered shipping, which alone the costs of would raise the price to the same as buying it from a Toy's R Us, so...

And Qui-Gon looks SO much better!

He looks weird with the wrinkles under his eyes, and his mustache looks a little to gruff, he looks like a bad guy from Prince of Persia IMO.

I would gladly take new molds over new prints for female figs whose prints can usually look similar.

Are you kidding? Sure, molded characters are nice, but you honestly don't care that female characters look the same from line to line? It makes me bummed that LEGO doesn't feel like designing most female characters very differently, they have to be old or really distinctive to warrant prints that look different most of the time these days. Would you like if Luke and young Obi-Wan still looked exactly the same? I never liked that either, but Padme definitely does not look like Hermione, so her figure shouldn't either.

I'm starting to feel like I'm going to do my own mocs. After all, that's the whole point of Lego. Why deal with the limitations that Lego has with set design, when I can build something better myself? I know, I know, these sets are designed for kids to play with. Not adults. But even when it comes to the kids, it seems like Lego is focusing more on the figs and neglecting the ships no matter who the sets are for.

I'm disappointed about it as well, but we must all remember that Lego is mainly for kids. Kids don't care about movie accuracy, they want something with some playability and figures that look like the movie counterparts. Most of the AFOL's will still buy the disappointing sets, just grudgingly. I just hope this price per part trend doesn't get any worse than it already is.

I understand what your saying, but would you have liked Sebulba to be the same as the old version, or Watto? They look much better, and I know that Padme and Hermione do not look exactly the same, but the prints can pass for both. As for Leia, I do believe it is different from Tamina, yet similar, but not exactly the same. As for the Obi-Wan/Luke thing, back then it was understandable for the prints to be the same, but now they have the ability to change the faces. I don't like the fact that Padme has the same face as Hermione, but at least Padme and Leia don't share the same face.

more pictures! Again the figures look fantastic, damn...new green light sabers *oh2* only in the set I have no intention on getting :cry_sad:

The wolffe squad are identical..that's a let downish...for me it is, but I'm sure lots would want identical ones

Podracer is tempting..the geonosian starfighter...well new jedi..maybe

Well...can't wait for more!

Same here. I'm debating whether or not to get the Scimitar now. After finding out that Padme is just Hermione... Qui-Gon is meh other than the 'saber, Panaka doesn't interest me, and new Maul basically loses in every category I can think of to the old one.

I think I'm going to hold off on that set for at least 6 months. If two of the 'figs other than Maul come in a magnet pack, then I'd consider getting them, and i'm sure the green 'saber blades will reappear in other sets from now on. If the first statement doesn't come true, then I'll just buy a Hermione minifig and deck her out in Star Warsy clothes. Hagrid's Hut has some pretty good pieces (including four dk. bley wedge plates that I could use for my T-47) and is half the price...

So now I'm down to only two sets I definitely want: Ewok Attack and the Podracers. My wallet is jumping for joy.

I gotta say, Ki-Adi's eyes are too big. I know that the Clone Wars characters have bigger eyes most of the time, but not in the case of Mundi. His eyes are smaller. Thats a bit upsetting. Also, are there any pics of the back of his head, I'm curious about his ponytail?

Closest is this pic. It looks like it'll be lumps and ridges, printed white.

I did notice that the Nantex has that Atlantis bubble cockpit in trans-black. I'm thinking that'd be perfect for a minifig-scale Delta-7.

t looks like a nice source of Bley, but but it is a pass. Every year the summer wave CW Mega-set($120)s figs sky-rocket almost instantly on BL, I believe Aayla is worth more than a scout trooper right now. Something tells me Wollfe, Eith Koth, and Quin are gonna be worth a ton in a little while. I think I'm gonna pass on the Scimitar, and buy the frigate.

All the ep.1 sets are fantastic, Tlgs really stepped it up. But I honestly can't spend 90 for those Pods. I'm down to Ewok Attach, Republick frigate, Geonosion Starfighter, and maybe just maybe Sith Knightspeeder, If the parts are stickered.

Personally, the Geonosian speeder is great. Nice new Geonosian, a great design- and finally a Mundi. Yes, there's a line through his head, but I don't really care. The Endor set is a must-buy, two Ewoks and a scout trooper for only 30 bucks? Sold. Of course, a while ago that would've been rediculus. Oh wait, these prices still are. Sorry, TLG. I would skip the Falcon if only for the fact I don't already have a system Falcon. I'll be switching out the Leia head though. The pods are a must have, and I'm still considering the Scimitar. The cruiser is also tough, as it comes with Wolffe and another troop, but those Jedi are ugly. And the Dathomir speeder is out- I don't need new Ani and Asajj and Opress.

Wow, tough crowd on this board. I'm 39, and have been collecting LEGO since I was 5. I hoped for Star wars LEGO for years, and was thrilled when they picked up the license. Then I saw early pics of the X-Wing, Hoth Speeder, and a couple other sets in '99, and was vastly disappointed. I still bought the sets (I own nearly every SW set since '99), and I have to say that, despite some inaccuracies and a few exceptions, the sets TLG are putting out now are vastly better, and have been getting better over the years. The last AT-AT set was really a step down from its predecessor, but this new Millennium Falcon is a step up from 4504, which itself was a Huge step above 7190, with its many red and blue parts showing through the grays. That's not to say I don't see the inaccuracies; I certainly do, but I also realize it's LEGO, it's scaled to mini-figs, which themselves are in a scale all their own, and ultimately these things are targeted at the 8-12 year old demographic. That we get the accuracy and detail we do get is amazing to me, and I think much of that is due to the awareness of the designers, many of whom are AFOLs themselves, of the AFOL community and their own desire to make these sets the way they would want them to be as a fan and customer. Unfortunately, they're limited by cost and safety restrictions, and ultimately the models are not always what we would like them to be.

That said, I'm looking forward to most of the 2011 lineup, most notably the new Falcon. The Nightspeeder and Ewok Attack are probably the most mediocre sets IMO, although the new ewoks look great. I like the new Sith Infiltrator; it's the most accurate version thus far. The cockpit area finally looks round. Perhaps we'll finally get a round TIE-fighter someday. My fingers are crossed.

Initially, I thought the Republic Frigate was going to be a carbon copy of the Republic Cruiser with a few exterior differences, but recent Toy Fair pics are proving me somewhat wrong. The interior is a bit different, and there's a little gunner pod between the main hull and the engine section. I still wish they'd made the cockpit area 6 wide instead of 4, but whaddaya do? I normally don't mod my sets, or I buy a copy to mod. But that's the beauty of LEGO..you can mod it as opposed to buying Hasbro products where you have to accept any imperfections, unless you have modeling skills, but that's a whole other topic.

Kudos to TLG on the new figs. Overall, I think they're doing a great job. I applaud the effort into making headpieces and such to increase accuracy. They don't have to, but I'm glad they do.

I'm not buying the frigate for the figs themselves. To me, it's the loads of Bley, and Dk. Read. The piece used for the engines will prove usefull as well. Dk. tan tiles are fine buy me as well. I love the ewok attack set, It comes with lots of brown, and the figs are all must haves. Plus the greenery on the trees. My problem with the pods is that i can't picture myself using any of those parts....ever. With the exception of the trans bars, which are  i'm a hard-core Rots fan, and came up empty this wave. So I've selected all the sets that I think I can sorta merge into the Rots world(Frigate Eith Koth, and the frigate is Rots enough, nightspeeder-Anikan torso, ewok attack-Kashyyk).

I think a lot of these sets are great (-Millennium_ , just some of the minifigs seem way to overdone, almost to the point they don't seem like minifigures anymore.

Speaking of the MF, I see some round pieces behind the cockpit, I don't think I've seen those before.

For this next wave of 2011 sets all I'm going to say is that I like the mini figures more than the sets themselves. I'll probably get the Sith Nightspeeder (or whatever its called now, lol) and the Ewok Attack set.

BTW, I feel this would probably be a good place to say this: TRU is having sales on Star Wars sets right now until the 19th. Every set is 10% off except Jedi Shuttle, Bounty Hunter Assault, V-Wing, and Battle of Naboo. These four sets have their own sales with them. BHA is down to about $40, JS is around $48, while the other 2 have a significant discounts as well. New sets already on sale?!?! THIS IS BLASPHEMY!! ahahaha

Considering TRU's normal markup, wouldn't this be them just lowering the price to MSRP?

^Sure but for the 1st wave 2011 sets, its a huge discount. I had to get the Bounty Hunter Assault for that almost great price to piece ratio. TRU even has the discounts online. I just checked.

I feel the Geonosian Speeder should have had another Geonosian just for the added play factor, buts just me. I know Lego doesn't make sense some times with its figure placement but this is ridiculous. They should have made Amidalia's (sp?) ship instead of the Sith Infiltraitor. I would have even been ok with Maul coming with that.

What were the prices of this new wave again?

Posted

Look at the new falcon closely around the edges. It opens like the first one ever.

Er, yeah, we mentioned that when we saw the very first prelim pics. Except that it opens like the second System one, not the first. The first opened via removal of the whole top half.

I feel the Geonosian Speeder should have had another Geonosian just for the added play factor, buts just me. I know Lego doesn't make sense some times with its figure placement but this is ridiculous.

It's not ridiculous. There's nowhere to put another Geonosian. The old Nantex had a second Geonosian to man the sonic cannon, but while I expect a lot of us would've liked another one this time around, there's nowhere to include him in the set. Geonosians aren't supposed to run around in the middle of nowhere without vehicles. Ki-adi and Cody can do that because they're invading the planet. I suppose maybe a maintenance worker Geonosian could fit in, but then there'd have to be some kind of accessory for the fighter, and that'd drive the price up.

They should have made Amidalia's (sp?) ship instead of the Sith Infiltraitor. I would have even been ok with Maul coming with that.

It's been said before. It would be a canonical appearance for all of the 'figs, since the battle between Maul and Qui-Gon took place outside that ship. My best guess is that TLG is purposely avoiding that ship because it's chromed.

What were the prices of this new wave again?

The first post always has the pricing info if we know it.

Browsing the net for more pics and I found this close up of Ki-Adi Mundi and the Geonosian. If this has been posted before, sorry.

Where I found it, there are some other close ups - Here.

Mundi's head piece looks alittle weird, but he's still cool. :sweet:

I think that compared with how he looks in Clone Wars the whole head seems a bit too long. On the picture (series), the eyes are more to the middle of the head:

KiAdiMundi-TCW.jpgscreenshot_08.jpg

On the other hands, he looks better than all of the self-made Ki-Adi Mundis I've seen so far.

I see it pretty much in the same way. I find it incredibly difficult to find objective criteria to justifie the proposition that the policy of TLG regarding minifigures and models is "just plain obvious", which is one of the reasons why I don't see the point of engaging into such a task. It's much easier to compare a model with its "predessor". Thus, I find that with 7965 (at least) the major flaw 4504 is removed: the cockpit now fits much better to rest of the model than it did before. I do not think, however, that all models have improved in all aspects. 7959, for example, comes up with a cockpit, which is a clear improvement, but I'm not yet sure about the cannon design.

The cockpit area finally looks round. Perhaps we'll finally get a round TIE-fighter someday. My fingers are crossed.

Since the "new" TIE-models 8017 (Vader's) and 8087 (Defender)are held in black/grey, I expect that sooner or later the TIE-Figher will be re-issued. I do not believe, however, that it's cockpit will show more "roundness" than 8017 and/or 8087.

I actually posted that same pic 4 pages back.

The bulbous head protrusion (binary brain) isn't actually the issue, but the noticeable gap between the headpiece and the head. I'm not really hating, I'm quite happy we'll be finally getting Ki-Adi in minifig form, it's just that I hoped for a better (seamless) transition of the headpiece with the head, much like Shaak Ti's. But I guess we'll just have to accept this one (at the very least it will be a source of potential ideas for the Single Pane SW Funnies ).
