Fallenangel Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 If the fighter has missles, then thats different Yeah, I'm expecting flick-fires on the bottom of this thing. Quote
prateek Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Very nice, but there goes the value of my security BDs Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Yeah, I'm expecting flick-fires on the bottom of this thing. I see at least two flick-fires on the speeder as well. Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 That droideka is horrid! I'll stick with my '07 versions! Quote
Mr Man Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 That droideka is horrid! I'll stick with my '07 versions! So are all of them, stick with a MOC instead, or even a board game figure. Hell even a drawing of one would be better than TLG's renditions of the Destroyer Droid. The original Gasgano was as good looking as a well I don't know what, but TLC improved the design afterwords. They might even have to mold some new parts but when has that ever stopped TLC? Quote
StoutFiles Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I see at least two flick-fires on the speeder as well. Looks like it just holds flick fire missiles that can be put on the ship. The B-wing set does something similar with its missiles. Quote
Lance Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 That droideka is horrid! I'll stick with my '07 versions! Great to see i'm not the only one who thinks his! That droideka is horrid though Quote
TheCashleySlash Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 It seems this new naboo fighter set has the R2 unit cockpit facing sideways, which is 'bulky' like the previous incarnations and attempts. Quote
DarthR2-D2 Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) *Beep* you LEGO, get your fingers out of my wallet. Why? One more set I want. All I really like about it is the Battle droids and the pilot. It's really accurate. EDIT: I almost forgot. I saw the sticker book at Walmart several weeks ago. I think it was the good guy one. It was with the video game prima guides. Edited March 16, 2011 by DarthR2-D2 Quote
BrickArtist Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 N-1 looks nice, on my list. The droideka won't be displayed within 10 inches of anything minifig scale, though. I'll probably try a perspective MOC with it. Glad to see the security droids are ligit. The question remains-Do the have red markings on the back of their heads? Quote
commanderneyo Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Excellent set!! I'll definitly be buing this to go along with my Battle Of Naboo set. I think the Droideka looks great... It's finally accurate with the red eye and the leg parts they have given it well suit it. The security battle droids are always welcome and a Naboo Pilot is awesome and then there's Anakin. I like the look of this new N-1 and that small cart or rack could have it's use. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 The question remains-Do the have red markings on the back of their heads? I doubt it. I can't see any hints of red on their heads from this angle, and the new pilot droids weren't printed on the heads either. Quote
Fallenangel Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 That droideka is horrid! I'll stick with my '07 versions! I never did understand how the upper half of the droideka from 7662 was supposed to look like the source material... It seems this new naboo fighter set has the R2 unit cockpit facing sideways, which is 'bulky' like the previous incarnations and attempts. It's probably done that way so they can keep the 'Artoo ramp' play feature. It doesn't look all that great, nor is it particularly accurate, but... it's a toy. All I really like about it is the Battle droids and the pilot. It's really accurate. The implications of your first sentence appears to clash with the message of the second one. As for the second statement... I think the area around the cockpit is too boxy, and the wings don't appear to sag the way they're supposed to. The 'chrome' portions of the engines could be a bit longer, and I think somebody said that 6x12 wings aren't very close to the correct angle. Still, I'd say it's pretty good by LEGO's standards. X-wing of the Prequels, indeed... Quote
Delta 38 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 It looks almost the same as the old one! Yay! Seriously though, I can't see much difference with the exception of the clear cockpit, which is nice. The Droideka still looks a little... weird. I don't think I can get used to a brick-built one, but it is an improvement, at least. I wish there could be more Naboo pilots or guards though. My collection of Episode 1 stuff won't quite be done without some more... Quote
Brickadeer Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I think the Droideka would look much better without the 3x2 tile on the top. Besides biasing the proportions, it makes it look a bit like Jar Jar Binks. Quote

This. It's not perfect, but you can only expect so much from official sets. Still, the price is outrageous, even for an exclusive set. Compared to BfG, which has Luminara, Rex and more than 300 parts (or to Mace's SF, which has 2 exclusives), this is a really bad deal. The only reason to get it is the pilot, maybe the security battle droids. But I don't believe it contains more than 200 pieces - and paying 25 cent per piece is ridiculous. Quote
uboat77 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Yeah, I'm expecting flick-fires on the bottom of this thing. I'm expecting flick-fires on the fighter, on the transport speeder, on the security droid and on the droideka... was i sarcastic enough? regarding the N1 design, it doesn't look too bad, or too blocky as the previous model, but the price is terrible...it's a pass for me...c'mon Hoth Base, show me the money Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 ? He's being sarcastic. I'm expecting flick-fires on the fighter, on the transport speeder, on the security droid and on the droideka... was i sarcastic enough? No. Sarcasm is stating the opposite. 'I'm sure TLG wouldn't ever do such a terribly uncommon thing as to add flick-fire missiles to this set,' that would be sarcasm. But it's not recommended for use on the Internet, because it doesn't translate well into written words. Quote

Fallenangel Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 regarding the N1 design, it doesn't look too bad, or too blocky as the previous model, but the price is terrible...it's a pass for me...c'mon Hoth Base, show me the money As I said, the design is essentially the same as that of 7660 so I don't think it's any less blocky. Unless you mean the original 7141, which is considered by many AFOLs to be one of the worst sets ever. i hate with a passion the flick fire system (it appears that the new MF will have at least one of those) and i do know that LEGO is really kid oriented but really, do even kids use those? most of them don't even work well as intended and are even awkward to use... I think it's really a case-by-case basis. The ones before '08 were just terrible but they seem to have improved since then. I remember that the new Falcon had at least four, and the fact that they are pretty much slapped on with no attempt to integrate them with the actual design was what bothered me. Still, the kids seem to like it; I remember when I had guests over and one of the kids were playing with my 7670, and she just kept on flicking those missiles. Quote
StoutFiles Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 .c'mon Hoth Base, show me the money If you're opening for an overpriced set, you'll be rewarded. I cringe thinking how much it's going to be. Quote
Baylego Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Thanks for the pic! I wish that I could see the pilot better though. The minifigures are usually making the sets this year especially since this Naboo Starfighter looks extremely similar to the last version. I don't think that I want this one. Quote
The Legonater Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I'm definatly holding back on the N-1- I got the last one, so the only real reason for getting this is the pilot. On that note, in two years there's probably going to be an Episode 1 battle pack that includes the pilot. Quote
Fallenangel Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Thanks for the pic! I wish that I could see the pilot better though. There were pictures of the minifigures available before the picture of the set. But: Quote
