StoutFiles Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Well, the Devastator did appear in Empire, but Vader wasn't on it, as he had begun using the Executor as his flagship long before the Battle of Hoth. The Devastator is only seen in Episodes IV and VI. And yes, the Executor has always been in Episode V. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Here have a good read everyone.....Executor-class Star Dreadnought Interesting to note that these were started in production before the loss of the first Death Star. Maybe this UCS will appear at ComicCon ? May the UCS be with you ! Quote
AndyC Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I would presume they opted for something more similar to 10030 and 6211 simply because the angle between the top and bottom halves don't seem to match up with what you would typically see with a Technic hinge. In any case, the sheer size could mean that it, like 10030, could also be held together with magnets, which would make the inclusion of an interior difficult. Wasn't there some sort of issue with shipping small magnets in childrens toys? I'm sure it was some sort of legal issue that lead to them redesigning the buffers of train sets to use a fully enclosed and permanently attached magnet part. Granted you might argue the UCS sets aren't child's toys, but I'd have thought TLG would apply such a ruling universally and use some other method instead. I'm rather hoping they do too, since the magnets on 10030 are a pain for falling apart if anyone breathes a little too close to it. Quote
Mr Man Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 No we need a UCS Home One to go with it . If they could get the curves right . Quote

smokebelch Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 The new Dengar looks interesting from what I can make out from the pic. Has to be a new head- can't see them giving him the old smiley face this time And that does look like a new bandages head piece to me- doesn't seem to come down the chest as much as the white Keffiyeh from the POP sets, and you can see more of the face than the old Ninja piece. Can't wait to see a better pic of him. Im guessing if they have redisigned him he will likely pop up again if they bring out a Jabba's palace set in the future as well. And yeah as others have said bit of a wasted opp for the other two bounty hunters. Quote
pedro Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 My bank account can't repel awesomeness of that magnitude! Love it. The realistic detilaing across the top surface and bridge is superb. Where's Boba Fett though? They could at least of thrown him into the mix... Quote
Solscud007 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) I feel dumb but were the bounty hunters even on the Executor? I thought they convened on a standard Imperial class Star Destroyer when Vader was having his meeting and the famous "No disintegration" line. TLG wouldnt invest a lot of money on a new mold especially for two figures. 4Lom could use a black or dark metallic gray(almost black) body with orange Protocol droid printing. Zuckuss would require new printing setup. All of those are expensive. At least they went to the trouble to redo dengar. I must get this set just for Dengar. I think Lego is really trying something new. I mean it started with The Imperial Shuttle UCS. They threw in ROTJ Luke and unless you have one already or the Death Star playset, that is your only chance of getting it officially. Now they dangle a new version of Dengar and a recolored IG-88. It always bugged me that IG-88 in the second Slave 1 was silver. I bought the Assassin Droid Battle Pack just so I could get an IG-88 droid. Edited April 13, 2011 by Solscud007 Quote

I thought that but as the Executor is around at the time, and its Vader's flagship it would make more sens for him to hold the meeting there, its impossible to tell visually as most imperial ships (SD's) have the same bridges. Im guessing if they have redisigned him he will likely pop up again if they bring out a Jabba's palace set in the future as well. Was Dengar ever in Jabba's Palace? I certainly don't remember it, but please tell me if he was. Anyway, I too really want a Jabba's Palace: Jabba with printing(nowadays, almost everyone has printing), most likely redesigned slave Leia, hopefully all those creatures he has, another chance to get Bib Fortuna, and (really wishful thinking) a Rankor! If it had most of those things, and it wasn't too pricey, I'd get it for sure. Quote

People who like to build very large Lego sets (and can afford them) are very, very selfish. They should always consider downtrodden and monetarily oppressed Lego fanatics and therefore never indulge in such guilty, indulgent pleasures... wolvfe115 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 cool set! I bet it will be expensive if only the new sets have a sling these storm trooper blasters Quote

I would hope he wouldn't come with this future set so they can make characters we don't have yet; notably Leia's Boushh disguise, Oola, Max Rebo, the Rancor trainer, and printed Gamorrean's. Edmond Dantes Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) Has anyone tried to count the studs in the Lego image? I counted 40 studs and was between 1/3-1/4 of the way down. So, I'd estimate it's ~140 studs long. Can anyone else confirm? That's enormous for an official set. Edit: Actually, I looked and estimated again and my count is right around 160 studs long. That's 50" long, or more than four feet. Edited April 13, 2011 by Edmond Dantes Quote
Aeroeza Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) Yes, he can be seen multiple times in the palace. I'm not so sure about about this statement. I can't say that I've ever noticed Dengar in any scene outside of his briefing in 'Empire'. In fact the only times you get a hint of costumes or characters associated with these bounty hunters from the ESB (apart from Boba) outside the 'briefing scene' is a flight suit worn by an extra in the canteena (which looks similar to Bossk's) and parts of an IG88 mold resting next to a furnace when some Uganaughts play piggy in the middle with Threepio's head. I really don't think Dengar ever made it into ROTJ... Has anyone tried to count the studs in the Lego image? I counted 40 studs and was between 1/3-1/4 of the way down. He can be seen exactly five times, watching both rancor scenes and watching Han and Luke get sentenced. Just because you didn't notice him doesn't mean he isn't there; it's not like he's ever the focus of any scene in RotJ. I also agree with Anio's measurements. Quote
Lasse D Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Finally! 8 years after I modded the 10030 into the first SSD-prototypes, LEGO gives us what I had been looking forward to. First impression: Positive things: - It is significantly smaller than mine, so kudos to LEGO for adding so many details at a relatively small scale. - 2 legs is a must for this set and hints at a slim frame, which again hints a very realistic depiction. - No obvious bridge, which means they didn't oversize it. Yay! - New bricks allow for a smooth front (unlike my zig-zag'ing) - Lots of large plates with less studs. Ideally I would like it to be stud-free on the flanks, but this is good too. - The upper wings consist of single planes, which is true to the original. - The city looks well greebled, and it's impossible to redo the original which was more than 2 meters long (and made of smaller pieces than LEGO bricks) Negative: - The belly. It seems like it's flat, judging from the flat front. - The sides are a bit high. Even my 1 brick high sides is a bit on the tall side compared to the original. - With the big front leg, the city in the belly might be compromised :S - With the flat front, the engine bay might not be shaped correctly. - The sides don't get wider towards the rear of the ship. There should still be a slight wedge along the city. Will I buy one? Of course! Quote
uboat77 Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 wow...just wow this one came out of the blue for me!! So far, really diggin' all the detail around the upper city, and the shape seems pretty accurate (appart the minor flaws pointed on the previous post)...and oh man, thinking i still have to get one UCS SD, i really need to win the lottery or something... already suffering from the price depression But bravo LEGO, nice UCS model there, keep it coming...altough in this case, the minifigs seems pretty expendable... MurkyMajare Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 The bounty hunter meeting is definitely on the Executor. The stage used for the two bridges are different, and the bounty hunter meeting is in the Executor bridge stage. Admiral Piett is around, and as the captain of the Executor (in addition to commanding the fleet), would not likely pop over to a "normal" SD just for a meeting like that. In addition, the production script places them on the Executor bridge. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I think some people at TLG are banging their heads at the walls right now. <lots of posts about the Executor not originally or not at all being in Empire> Sometimes I wonder why so many people ask questions or say things that could be resolved with a 5-minute trip to Wookieepedia. The Devastator is only seen in Episodes IV and VI. Well to clarify, the Devastator is one of the ISDs in Death Squadron and supposedly was in the Battle of Hoth, although Wookieepedia says it does not appear in Empire. The belly. It seems like it's flat, judging from the flat front. Ugh. I didn't notice that. I had thought it would be angled plates studs-up, but if it's flat... Quote
