sok117 Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Well, LEGO went ahead and created a better, much more complex AT-ST for the Battle of Endor, so maybe the will actually give us a better, more complex T-47 in this set. The AT-ST wasn't perfect, but it surprised me how much better and more complicated it was than the past AT-ST's, so maybe a completely redone Snowspeeder is in the works if this truly is a Battle of Endor size set. I would love to see a more complex snowspeeder, as you probably all know, the higher the price point, the more complex the build ergo the 16+ on the box. I think a more complex snowspeeder is definitely needed, the x-wing canopy on the old one just looks monstrous. The Battle of Endor set has to be one of the best Star Wars sets in quite a while (at least for me), and possibly the best SW playset period, so maybe this Hoth set will follow closely in its footsteps. I would be very happy if it did. I think your forgetting the death star play set , unless you mean only system scaled sets, then your right on the money! Yeah, you're probably right. I'm not sure what can be changed with the Snowspeeder, though. With the Battle of Endor, the last AT-ST released was in 2007 (which is the one I own), so there has been a gap of two years or so between the latest standalone AT-ST and the one in the Battle of Endor. Obviously, the newer one is more accurate, but for some reason I prefer the more blocky 2007 one. The Snowspeeder, though, doesn't really have anything that can be changed from my viewpoint. The next step is to probably go bigger. The snowspeeders canopy is the number one thing that needs to be changed, if you are able to clearly see a T4-7 then you would know that the cockpit the official model uses is totally distorted and not the right pick. Other then that, the model is pretty good. But I think it warrants a change, and the techniques wouldn't be to difficult. As for the old AT-ST, I have all renditions of the AT-ST to date, including mini and UCS, and I think that the 2007 edition was good, save for the fact that it was too big. The size was just way off compared to the model, normally I am not a stickler for sizing, but this was really awful IMO, the recent version is (obviously) the best IMO. I doubt it but could there be a y-wing with the hoth set? I'd have to say no, I'm pretty sure a Y-wing would have stuck out as a key point to the member who supplied the original information. Furthermore, a y-wing is a $70 set, that plus a base could equal close to $200, and I think that would have to mean it was the flagship set for the year. I think the price point will be around $120 Quote
Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 *snip* You nerd. You're welcome. How come no one is suggesting a Rebel transport (GR-75) with the Hoth set? That's a ship that will likely never be made otherwise. I'd rather have the set be expensive and include this. I like that idea and the ship itself but believe this to be very improbable. The Gallofree Yards medium transport is a pure freighter design. A very detailed and interesting one but still a freighter. I guess that more people are interested in combat or at least action based vehicles. To have kind of a scale, it would have to be fairly huge and this would increase the price for a mediocre thingy. I'd buy it but who else... I'd have to say no, I'm pretty sure a Y-wing would have stuck out as a key point to the member who supplied the original information. Furthermore, a y-wing is a $70 set, that plus a base could equal close to $200, and I think that would have to mean it was the flagship set for the year. I think the price point will be around $120 I guess you're right. Y-wings aren't that closely associated with Hoth. And your guess at the price sounds reasonable, too. A big set but in range of a good 'present for birthday/christmas'. I personally hope that you are right because then we could expect an expanded, playable set full of features. The old set was limited in brick count and price when released. A bigger iteration could resemble kind of a standalone to face the AT-AT set. If it were a mere addition to 2007's base - which isn't available under total rip-off prices anymore - there would always miss something. Something important i believe. Regarding the set composition i hope for: Outdoor turret, gate, small command post, indoor vehicle or repair crane, T-47, medical bay and hurt/Hoth Luke, Leia, Derlin, Rebel Pilot, mechanic, red 3PO, 2 rebel troopers, Taun-Taun, 2+ snowies, Vader, E-web, probe droid and maybe an imperial vehicle. An AT-ST would be cool but a snow speeder bike might be more likely. Quote
P4trickvH Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Dunno of these were posted yet, but here some pictres of the upcomming Star Wars sets, Enjoy. LEGO 7956 Ewok Attack LEGO 7957 Sith Nightspeeder LEGO 7959 Geonosian Starfighter LEGO 7961 Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator LEGO 7962 Anakins & Sebulba's Podracers LEGO 7964 Republic Frigate LEGO 7965 Millenium Falcon Source Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 We've already seen most of those, (I think the only ones we haven't are the frigate close-ups, and we saw a lot of that set at Toy Fair) but thanks anyways. Quote
filospinato Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Yeah, those pics have been posted, notably on the first page, although the source you cite also lists prices for each of those sets, some of which have only been speculation until now. Also, some of the prices in Euro are less than the first page lists. Looks like you can order those now and they'll ship in August. Might be a deal for European LEGO collectors. Quote
commanderneyo Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 The in-box picture of the "Geonosian Starfighter" hasn't been posted yet so thanks for that picture! Quote
KimT Posted May 7, 2011 Author Posted May 7, 2011 The in-box picture of the "Geonosian Starfighter" hasn't been posted yet so thanks for that picture! Sure it has. It's even been posted at much better resolution. Just look here It's not that hard guys- look in the first post and check the galler link there to see if your pics have been flashed before. It's not rocket science, is it? Quote

I said "In box" as in a picture of the set in it's entirety inside the box not an out of box picture like that one. (Prelims don't count in what i'm saying as it's the first boxed picture of the set that is not prelim) I think I can say "It's not rocket science" right back at you! Quote

Actually, the Dark Lord of Denmark is right. There is a better non-prelim box image we've seen. Quote
Ceroknight Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I was looking at the first post (like I should be ) and found something weird... The Geonosian Starfighter has 155 pieces but it's more expensive than the 214 piece Darthomir Speeder! Is this an error or is it kinda like the T-6 Shuttle and the Bounty Hunter Gunship relationship? I'll bet it's because the Nantex has two exclusive minifig molds. The Nightspeeder has none. Quote

I'll bet it's because the Nantex has two exclusive minifig molds. The Nightspeeder has none. Probably not only that but also because the fewer parts of the Geonosian Starfihghter are larger (and hence costlier = contains more ABS plastic) compared to the larger amount of small parts of the Dathomir speeder. KimT Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 But so be it! Commander Neyo "made" me look for new a better box and in box images around the net and this is what I found. More pics of the box contents and other 2011 sets in our 2011 LEGO Star Wars Sets Gallery on flickr. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 (edited) I don't believe we've seen the close-up of Young Anakin's secondary head print before. It looks like a manga drawing. As LEGO faces go, it's totally . Edited May 8, 2011 by Brickdoctor Quote

As LEGO faces go, it's totally . That was my initial reaction too, the normal pupiled one is fine but the second is too cartoony for me (but it will be quite useful for other purposes). Anyway it's nice to see the clear images of the box arts. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Upon closer looks, his face looks that way due to the goggles printed on his face - another reason they should ideally be part of the helmet. I also notice Watto has dk. bley hands, not sand blue. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 (edited) I showed the new images especially of the minifigs to my son, he was impressed except for the ones in the 7959....he call them gay, which I believe school kids mean is lame not very P.C. I know sorry if it offends. My opinion is the reverse as the Clone Wars figures I consider quite good. I do agree with the good doctor, little Ani in his podracing gear should have oogles on the helmet not printed on his face. Edited May 8, 2011 by lightningtiger Quote
KimT Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 I showed the new images especially of the minifigs to my son, he was impressed except for the ones in the 7959....he call them gay... It seems the world forgot that gay used to be a jolly word I actually like the printed goggles. I seriously dislike the old ones and the new (Hoth) ones as well. Printing them is a good solution to a serious design issue when designing a goggle that has to fit the outside of a helmet. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I also notice Watto has dk. bley hands, not sand blue. Ugh, what does TLG have against sand blue hands? They made the previous Watto with the correct sand blue hands, and now with the highly-detailed nature of the new minifigs this is somewhat a step backwards. It's not really a major issue, but just something that makes me wonder if it's really that hard to make minifig hands of that color? Quote

You're right. I don't like that alternate face at all, it just doesn't look... right. It doesn't even look like something we'd see out of a Clone Wars set. The helmet looks quite nice, though. Quote
AnseltheCat Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Is it just me that thinks they have made Leia look like a transvestite? What have they done to her?! Quote
