XimenaPaulina Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Am I the only one who likes new Ki-Adi minifigure ? :) Even if it's not the best-looking new minifigure around, I'm still happy that TLG finally made a Ki-Adi fig. Of course there will be the expected "anti-CW-look-" bashing/sentiments, which maybe rightfully deserved, and I personally think that the separate head and headpiece set-up is a bad idea for Ki-Adi (and Maul and Oppress for that matter) because of the visible gap which has not been an issue with other figs of this same head-headpiece combo (Ahsoka, Aayla, Shaak, Saesee). I've said this before that I would rather have Ki-Adi get a rubbery head like Fisto and Plo as it will eliminate that ugly gap and at the same time make for an accurate look. But it seems TLG has gone away from this practice and we'll just have to live with these types of minifigs from now on. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 But it seems TLG has gone away from this practice and we'll just have to live with these types of minifigs from now on. I'm not sure they've gone away from the practice necessarily, they just think these characters can be done this way. After all, Asoka came out at the same time as Plo Koon, and LEGO is not trying to make characters that really look different with normal heads, such as the Geonosian or the Ewoks. All of the Jedi done this way do look like regular humans but with something funny on their heads, while Plo Koon and Kit Fisto do not. I am sure that if (or more likely: when) they make Evan Piell, they will give him a molded head. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I assume they separate them when they feel they can make the head work with a normal head as part of the assembly, so they can keep as much of the look of the iconic minifig as possible. Quote
Parrothead Rasmus Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 (edited) Excellent review on the Geonosian Fighter, I don't mind Ki-Adi head except he and the other CW Jedi's need to see an eye specialist ! And when I look at the Geonosian pilot, I think of this guy......... The fighters design I do like and takes a pilot which the AOTC couldn't (correctly me if I'm wrong on that - that set came out in my dark ages ). May the brick be with us all ! LOL. You're right! He does look bad. I still have my originals. Edited May 19, 2011 by Parrothead Rasmus Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 LOL. Mod note: Pls. refrain from doing these types of posts, this is not a chat room but a forum discussion so try to provide something significant to the topic. Okay, move along people. Quote
Delta 38 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Yes, I think it is definitely . His eyes are huge, with those wierd-looking creases coming off the sides, (however accurate, they just look like fake eyelashes applied to the wrong side of the eye) there's the ugly gap between the head and the headpiece, and the eyebrows look much too bushy. Wow, that's kind of scary. From the front he looked okay, and I wasn't worried about the headpiece. From the side, however, it just looks so... unnatural. I'm also surprised that the headpiece is the standard hard plastic, because I expected it to be one of those rubber ones. Quote
Mr Man Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Am I the only one who likes new Ki-Adi minifigure ? :) No. On the whole I like it as well, however the 'Fez' piece could look a bit better and join better, but its still a good minifig, much better than Qui-Gon, the one from 7665 looked better. Quote
omot Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 The Christo-KAM (Ki-Adi-Mundi)-Head is principal the typical simple LEGO-Head, just a little bit higher. I'm proud to have one copy of this figure, but isn't it a one without expression, the right sw-feeling?! The new TCW-KAM-Head is one in a row of the new Head-solutions, which concerns on the normal head with a put-on-piece, as we can see on the new Zabrak-Figs "Savage Opress" and "Darth Maul". Imho the new KAM is not the best solution, ... it shows more details of the crumpled real Head and his queue of hair Quote
Supersonic Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Ki-Adi is alright. What did you expect from a TCW minifig, especially one that's so hard to do? At least he is rather detailed and instantly recognizable. And btw, I'm pretty sure we'll see a non-TCW Ki-Adi one day...the 3D release of ROTS is set for 2013, I could definitely see him in a set there. Quote
Bobskink Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 The Christo Ki Adi Mundi... Didn't the people of the Video game created that Ki Adi Mundi? Quote
-JD- Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 The Christo Ki Adi Mundi... Didn't the people of the Video game created that Ki Adi Mundi? Yep, but I want to know when someone will take to the challenge and start making that head and selling it! I'd rather that by far, whatever the cost. Quote
LEGO AFOL Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I hear there's a naboo fighter released this year. I don't have one I will try to get it. Correct me if I am wrong. There's also a hoth rebel base or something which I heard about. True? Correct me if I am wrong. Quote

Supersonic Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 That reminds me, did any of those who already possess a new set check the last two pages for pics of the Hoth Echo Base? We found out about the BfG set when someone got the Battle of Naboo early in November... Quote

StoutFiles Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 That haunts me either. Good to see i am not the only one being awfully curious about the upcoming Hoth Echo Base. I'm here everyday hoping for some information on it. I want to see if it will merge with 7666. Quote
Mr Man Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I'm here everyday hoping for some information on it. I want to see if it will merge with 7666. I'll like it to join with 7666, 7749, and 8089 for a Uber Hoth Echo Base . Quote

I'd rather that by far, whatever the cost. I believe that's incorrect, Christo made it, based on the video game, and he still makes some for his ebay. Look him up, he has lots of other awesome stuff! That's offtopic, though. Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) I hear there's a naboo fighter released this year. I don't have one I will try to get it. Correct me if I am wrong. And the Naboo Starfighter box makes an DYNAMIC ENTRY! Correct me if I am wrong, but this is probably the best box art in the history of ever. The set is released "soon" in Germany according to this pics scource and the dutch have a locked release date of 12th August. The euro price is 49,99€, the dutch site has a reduced price, like with every set they sell. Edited May 20, 2011 by Navy Trooper Fenson Quote

cpt_cool Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) Just found some news on the net. German Galeria-Kaufhof has the new 7961 Sith Infiltrator (69,99 €) and the 7965 Millennium Falcon (149,99 €) on their webshop. Yesterday the sets were neither online nor in the store. Both sets were available today in the Galeria-Kaufhof store in Hamburg... Edited May 20, 2011 by cpt_cool Quote

Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Both sets were available today in the Galeria-Kaufhof store in Hamburg... Thanks for that update. They're not yet in the store in my city. I assume they will arrive about next week or so. Still, the webshop just added 7964 Republic Frigate (129.99 €). Scheduled to be available "soon". August, too, is a good guess, IMHO. Quote
Poza Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) Yesterday Republic frigate and Geonosian starfighter arrived. They´re available in some Czech online stores since Thursday. I think they´re awesome even they don´t have everything perfect :D If I get the camera or someone will borrow it for me I´ll take some pictures (I think I will be able to probably on monday). XimenaPaulina Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Nice to see the boxart for the upcoming Naboo Starfighter set, thanks for sharing Navy Trooper Fenson! While the model itself is not really spectacular, the boxart is indeed very well done and one of the best I've seen in recent times. Quote
