sacredvolt501 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Thanks for taking that constructively mate. Would never want to offend anyone on this forum. I don't actually understand while the US doesn't get sets the same time as everyone else. I can understand Germany, Denmark and some of their neighbouring countries seeing them first, but lego is such a huge market. All they're doing is encouraging grey market sales. And that isn't really in the interests of manufacturers. No problim Now though, I am reading on ToysNBricks.com that the new LEGO Summer sets ARE AVAILABLE NOW...in the U.S., but it is not showing up on the website...could it be possible LEGO is running slow with updates? Follows Closely Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 A UCS B-Wing in 2012 - that people outside the inner core at TLG knows about? I'll see it before I believe it. This ship has great potential in LEGO. Quote
Masked Builder Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Yes, but remember, I said I only saw it online where it had said something...I don't think I would make a special trip, but it might turn out to be something. Well the site said that it is only availabe in stores. Mine doesn't have it. Now though, I am reading on ToysNBricks.com that the new LEGO Summer sets ARE AVAILABLE NOW...in the U.S., but it is not showing up on the website...could it be possible LEGO is running slow with updates? Really? Where does it say that? Quote

Masked Builder Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Okay now that is cool! I really like all of the minifigures that Lego has decided to include, even if some of them are recycled. It does look a bit like some of the other Hoth set we've gotten but I do like this one. This will be my first origional trilogy set in several years! Quote
Fallenangel Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Now THIS should be on the front page! Ki-Adi-Mundi will be overjoyed... Quote
StoutFiles Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Medbay looks great! I'm not sure what the weapons area is supposed to be though? This will need some modding for sure... Limited edition, sigh. Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 OMG ! I want this set....dam, exclusive though.....TRU I'll bet - talking about something comming out of left field we were all saying the other day about this set and it might have in it and BAM ! there it is ! Do we know the dollar and cents value on it yet ? May the brick be with us all ! Quote
Stegoceras Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 excellent find Supersonic, you deserve a pat on the back. As for the set, can't say I'm overly enthousiatic about it as of yet, Doesn't seem to carry that instantly recognizable as star wars feel (looks more like a new space police set). Guess I'll wait for the reviews, but very cool to finally see pictures of it. Thanks again Supersonic. Quote
DarkFader Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 (edited) I have seen the set once before but that time the picture wasn't in such good quality unlike this time; thanks for posting. It looks pretty cool and I really like the minifigure selection; also, I am not really a buyer of big sets but I think I will try to get this one (I hope it will eventually be available on Shop At Home). Thego Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 (edited) Brilliant! Thanks Supersonic! That looks like one of the X-Wing maintenance platforms on the top - is that what it is, and if so, what is it doing up there? Edited June 1, 2011 by Thego Quote
Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Here we go! http://starwars.lego.com/de-DE/Products/7879.aspx Wow! Utterly awesome! A big thx for posting this highly wanted info! You just emerged to become my personal superhero, supersonic. You stand up to your alias Now THIS should be on the front page! Ki-Adi-Mundi will be overjoyed... Yay! While i should be ashamed to be this predictable i just confess to be guilty on all accounts. Did i already mention that i NEED this set?! Quote
mordatre Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 (edited) I want the droids and controlroom panels . I really hate Limited edition... Probably will be 150 Euro in Sweden. Instant buy if on sale though. Great find Supersonic! Edit: Ok, them warningsign stickers are a must have too. Edited June 1, 2011 by mordatre Quote
Praiter Yed Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 (edited) Good find Supersonic. Maybe I was just too excited about this set. It all looks a bit random and thrown together, as Stegoceras said it sort of looks like it's part of another theme. With the Battle of Endor, Lego showed that they could provide good design, a good figure selection and good playability - I expected the same from this, but it looks like they forgot the design and some of the figures. Ah well, time to start looking forward to 2012. EDIT: Is that medical droid sand blue? Edited June 1, 2011 by Praiter Yed Quote

Clone OPatra Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Maybe I was just too excited about this set. It all looks a bit random and thrown together, as Stegoceras said it sort of looks like it's part of another theme. With the Battle of Endor, Lego showed that they could provide good design, a good figure selection and good playability - I expected the same from this, but it looks like they forgot the design and some of the figures. Funny, these were the exact same thoughts that went through my head as well.Battle of Endor amazed me on so many levels; I never thought LEGO would come out with a SW playset so good. I almost never buy the big SW sets, but Battle of Endor just couldn't be passed up. I too thought that the idea of a big Hoth base could wow me in a similar way that Battle of Endor did, but I was unfortunately quite wrong. Perhaps since the Hoth base is buried in a pile of snow anyway it would never lend itself to being as good looking as the Endor bunker, but that's not the only thing that makes this set a disappointment. While Endor gave us three entirely new Ewoks and those amazing Rebel troopers that many people had wanted for a while, this set completely falls down in the minifigure area. Another color of protocal droid? Woohoo… Luke in underwear is ok, but honestly this was an opportunity to give us new characters from Hoth that we had not gotten before and the opportunity was passed by. They could've made a new and actually accurate Veers; that would've been something at least. The design of the set itself also seems lacking and mashed together. What stands out to me the most is that high walkway; what the heck is that thing about? It really does feel like this set would belong better in a theme like Alpha Team or Agents. Quote
andrewqwy Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Ahhh finally it's revealed! I hope my earlier description help you guys imagine this set as close as this pic. Quote
StoutFiles Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Ahhh finally it's revealed! I hope my earlier description help you guys imagine this set as close as this pic. This was extremely close to what you described (sadly), thanks for the information ahead of time. Quote
The Legonater Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Personally, this is great. Sure it's not going to be prretty- it's an underground base. I think they did a great job of wha limited views thay had of the base. Quote
Supersonic Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Ahhh finally it's revealed! I hope my earlier description help you guys imagine this set as close as this pic. Your description was extremely accurate - good to know that we have sources we can trust After giving this a closer look, it is a really disappointing set. 7666 was much better - at least 7879 could have included a snowspeeder (not that I like TLC's T-47 too much, but at least you always need more snowspeeders) or another Tauntaun. And the missile/gun section is a bad joke. 2009's Echo Base set showed how easily good-looking turrets and walls can be built, so why this? Quote
Petit-bleu Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 It's a bit strange but i really don't know what i feel about this set. Joy when i saw there was a picture of the Hoth set and then... i don't know. Minifigs are good. As someone said another Taun-taun is great. I waited the bacta tank a litle bigger but maybe my memory is fading. I think i just have to wait to see the awesome features of the base that maybe i don't catch at first glance. Also it doesn't seem to fit with the 7666 very well (but maybe i'm wrong cause i don't earn this one either yet). Quote
Fallenangel Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 The design of the set itself also seems lacking and mashed together. What stands out to me the most is that high walkway; what the heck is that thing about? X-wings, of course. Around 2:38. Works well in MOCs like this: It looks like one of these in the background. Interesting... Quote
darkrebellion Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 First, thanks a lot supersonic for the new pic . Back in to the set, I am REALLY dissapointed . Don't really know what the designer of that set was thinking at the time but that bunch of random elements don't even come close to resemble the Hoth Echo Base. The only recognizable scene in the whole set is the Bacta Tank Chamber and that just occupies one corner of the whole thing. Everything else appears absurdly out of place. Random walkway? Random radar dishes everywhere? Random turrets on top of the left wing of the base? It is not a badly designed set on it's own but is a blasphemous attempt at recreating one of the most recognizable battles in the whole saga. The minifigures are pretty good; sure, I wished we got some new characters instead of just one recolored protocol droid but to be honest, minifigures alone don't really sell me a set. They obviously need to be worthwhile but I see the ones included here as such so that not a big issue for me. What is horribly wrong is the base itself. Just after we got some great and truly remarkable playsets in The Battle of Endor and the Home One this comes from nowhere to bring back shame over LSW playsets. In my eyes, this must be the worst designed LSW set so far for the line. Why? Because the designer achieved for the first time in the history of the line to make a set nowhere close in apperance to that of its source material . Quote
Nightshroud99 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I can't help feeling somewhat disapointed... I like the set; its design. But the figures are lacking!! Plus why no snow speeder? Adding in a mini hanger (although doen before) would increase the playability. But the worst thing is the figures, whoopdedoo about a red protocol droid... The sand-blue medical droid is nice, and a naked Luke. I understand its canon but still. But why no Soldiers? Not ONE!! Withholding of course the Commander previously mentioned, he'd have been a good choice as well. It just seems like this base is chock full of weapons and defense, but without anyone to man them. Quote
pranas Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Huh...I was REALLY excited about this set so I could further flush out my ever-growing Hoth set-up, but I don't know now. As some people have already said, it doesn't really feel like a Star Wars set and feels like it was meant for another theme. And the fact that it's a Limited Edition means it's most likely going to be REALLY expensive too! Maybe I'll wait for this one if it ever goes on sale. But for all I know, maybe this will be one of those sets that looks horrible in pictures but amazing in person. Will try to wait for a review to come out before passing final judgement I guess. On a plus side though, a red 3PO, injured Luke in underwear, and another Tauntaun are all very cool. So at least there is that, I guess. Quote
