montgocloud Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Quick Question: I was thinking of buying a large LEGO set for myself tommorrow as I have a little over 100$ lying around. I was wondering if the Podracer set was available yet. If not, I may get the two medium sized Pirates of the Carribean sets since I really loved the Whitecap Bay set. Quote

Which has absolutely nothing to do with 2011 pictures or rumors. Everybody needs to stop spamming please. NOW! Quote
Delta 38 Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 By the way, for whoever wanted the side-by-side of the System Falcons, I found these on brickshelf: Hmm. The Geonosian Fighter and the Sith Interceptor look much improved, but the Naboo Starfighter looks the same. It might actually be a little worse than the original because of the rear. Quote
Parrothead Rasmus Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 In my opinion, 7879 lacks the 'WOW!' factor. 4483 (AT-AT), 4504 (Mill. Falcon), 8038 (Endor Attack), 10179 (UCS Mill. Falcon), and 10188 (USC DS) are a few examples of sets that hit high on the ‘WOW!’ factor chart. The 2006 sets (6206 through 6210 in particular) in which I consider 2006 as the renaissance year of SW LEGO, even though the sets were mostly ships, I could only say to myself ‘hey, these sets are pretty slick. I am definitely going to buy these!’ Unfortunately I don’t get this vibe with 7879. 7879 reminds me of 7956 (Ewok attack) in which a bunch of LEGO bricks were hastily put together with the addition of a few never released before minifigures, except on a larger scale. This is coming from a pro-LEGO consumer who collected classic space and castle sets as a child and now collects LEGO SW and City sets as an AFOL. I agree that the great thing about LEGO, especially LEGO sets, can be modded in order to provide some sort of satisfaction to the end user, whether it is better playability, aesthetics, etc. I am an SW OT fan and collect only the LEGO SW OT sets. However, I think that LEGO has been ‘hitting the ball out of the park’ so to speak on the recent past and current PT sets, so much that is has been and will be tempting for me to leave them on the shelves. I just hope that LEGO uses some of their PT elbow grease on the design of future OT sets. Very well put, Yavinbase. It's good, but lacks that certain "UMPH" degree of 'awsomeness.' Quote
Fallenangel Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 It might actually be a little worse than the original because of the rear. I can't say I see any major differences in the rear... This is the best i could find for it. [snip] Where did you find this? Quote
Emperor Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Where did you find this? It is one of the pictures you get when you click the picture of the Naboo Fighter on this site: http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=7877&cn=709 Quote

Thanks. To answer someone's question, it appears that the canopy on 7877 is hinged rather than sliding. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 On that note, it's worth mentioning that the other day when the sets were listed on German LEGO.com, they weren't linked to a page on S@H (because no page existed), but S@H Germany now has all the sets up for viewing. Quote
brickbuilder Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Hes already acknowledged he overreacted on some things and has since eased up. I enjoyed it, however. When do the UCS sets normally hit the market? I think the interior of the Executor is the last picture we need for this year. Well actually, every year there are normally two LEGO Exclusives (10XXX sets). So the executor is one, and we still have one more coming. Quote

Commander Keller Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 I think the rehash theme will definitely hit hard. I can see many things that can use a good improvement from AOTC sets. Gunship and AT-TE I think are pretty good the way they are. Maybe they could make something we haven't seen done with LEGO? Not sure what ships or vehicles haven't made their way into sets yet from AOTC... I agree that a Kaminoan set would be an awesome addition to AOTC sets. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 i can take pictures and review it but how do i upload it do i make a word document then add attachments or do i take photos and upload them directly You should first make a Brickshelf account and upload the photos (max size 800x600) to it (see here), and then deeplink them in a post. Write the text with the images in the post. Quote

brickbuilder Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Wouldn't it have made the UCS poster though? Naah. It's probably still in production, unlike 10221 which seems to be finished. The Executor will probably be a September release, while the unknown one will most likely be November/December. Quote

Petit-bleu Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 (edited) http://www.flickr.com/photos/63672715@N07 here's a link to my frigate review Thank you for the pics (as it's not really a review, more like a closelook) Too bad this computer screen is a sticker... Otherwise this frigate looks like a must have to me. I like this set a lot except for the 2 jedis who look like crap in my opinion (but maybe it's because i don't know them from the tv show... no they look bad). I never liked the eyes of the CW Yoda but i don't have any Yoda so... and man, this wolf commander is awesome. It will be a pain to BL for his troopers to make a decent commando. Another good point is there is space for me to fit one or two clone gunners. I closely looked at the new millenium and the first thing to do will be to fill the gap between the "body" and the mandibules cause it's really bothering. It should be awesome. Especially the ones on interior/compartments are very interesting. Still for a review one could recommend you to choose a different background and do something about the lighting which is poor. Quote

Ogre Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 If you have the Eco Base set that had the hanger and small control room and put that in front of this new one, then I think that you have a full base plus you could even add the set with the first taun taun and snow trench plus a AT-AT I say you have a pretty good battle seen going on there Small shelf with no real 'Echo Base' but, yeah, that sort of thing can work...
