TheDarkness Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 There will certainly be some awesome MOCS and dioramas come out. Prices for the past Echo Base set will probably jump more because people will want it for the add on, just a shame I sold my spare one earlier this year. The frigate is better than I thought looking at those pics. Before I definitely wasn't getting it, but now It has shifted to a possibility depending on price. Quote

Commander Keller Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 i highly recommend it. the figures are great and the set is amazing IT'S HUGGE!!! I think this set will be my first purchase. Looks like a cool set and it has some exquisite pieces. Not to mention the fact that almost all of the figs are exclusive to the set. Quote
Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Small shelf with no real 'Echo Base' but, yeah, that sort of thing can work... Wow, that looks beautiful and inspiring. I'm gonna get a glass cabinet soon to finally build up all the stuff i recently bought. Do not want it go get dusty. Your diorama gives a nice impression what difference an AT-AT does to that scene. Darth Yogi Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 I was just at a book store, and I saw the LEGO visual dictionary, without a minifigure, or a place for him to go(so he wasn't just stolen ) Quote
Kaitan Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 (edited) I was just at a book store, and I saw the LEGO visual dictionary, without a minifigure, or a place for him to go(so he wasn't just stolen ) Well I work in a bookstore, and we are still getting the visual dictionary in stock on a weekly basis, complete with mini figure, so I don't know what you saw... Point being, it's very unusual for a publisher to release a new version of a book when the old version is still in print. Kaitan Edited June 4, 2011 by Kaitan Quote

Lord Of The Fries Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Well, while we're all talking about the visual dictionary, I have a quick question. A friend of mine went to this guys house and saw a visual dictionary showing lego SW sets from 1999-2011. I thought it only went up to 2009? Quote

Kaitan Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 (edited) The one without the figure is the "Library" version. Now THAT makes sense :) I will do more research when I get to work tomorrow and have access to more "official" resources. Kaitan Edited June 5, 2011 by Kaitan Quote
Zzz Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 TLC made it to make an Echo Base without Snowspeeder, X-Wings, Tauntauns, any command officer, any weapons seen in the movie (turrets, ion cannon), power generator. Amazing. I was hoping for an Endor-style playset, which was terrific. Well, whatever. It's bricks. Don't be lazy and build your own, right? Quote
StoutFiles Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 TLC made it to make an Echo Base without Snowspeeder, X-Wings, Tauntauns, any command officer, any weapons seen in the movie (turrets, ion cannon), power generator. The Snowspeeder and X-wing are in other sets that are on the shelves. It's just good business sense to not have a second set you can get these vehicles in. The Taun-Taun is in the set. In one of the pictures it isn't shown but it's there. Yes, a commanding officer would have been nice, along with other features. Can't please everyone with a $100 set. The shield bunker had the benefit of being small and easy to recreate...Echo Base is much bigger with many more unique features. Quote
Ogre Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Wow, that looks beautiful and inspiring. I'm gonna get a glass cabinet soon to finally build up all the stuff i recently bought. Do not want it go get dusty. Your diorama gives a nice impression what difference an AT-AT does to that scene. Thank you. For anyone wondering, that's basically the contents of two 'Echo Base' sets, two each of rebel and Imperial battle packs (only the relevant figs though), Wampa Cave and motorized walking AT-AT. It was just kind of 'thrown together' (as were the other two shelves) with recent Hoth purchases and doesn't include any older sets like my other snowspeeders, or my original AT-AT. It's the middle shelf of three...Tatooine on the bottom, Endor on the top (photos cropped to conserve space). Not a lot of room to work with, so I basically just had one large set to represent each planet, then 'filled in' with figs and smaller sets/parts of smaller sets that were already assembled at the time. I really need to fill in the bottom shelf more, with the cantina and perhaps Jabba's palace. We'll see. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Oh gosh! This is another set I've to buy! I like the medical cylinder! Quote

I wouldn't have thought that one can do so much without all sets of a theme (i.e. scene) gathered together. You really optimised to get the max out of your sets and successfully avoided flooding the whole room with your hobby. I hope you have a glass cabinet and some cover to deny the sun bleaching your precious treasures. The top diorama also clearly shows the value of 8038. It's a great standalone and only requires a few more Impies to make for a memorable battle. In the center, 7749 celebrates a surprising appearance. Better than i thought. Two of them almost make up for a missing base. Your Tatooine is colourful and random - just like a backwater planet full of civilians ought to be. Still it shows what we are missing atm. Sry, i am just off to a different thread. Quote
Gregorovich Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Review 7962 on Russian language. Thanks for the link, Igoran! And thanks, VerSen for the excellent review! The set looks great, as it has some really nice parts and colours. The minifigures are also nice, but I wonder if they're a little over detailed. They're still nice though. The podracers look amazing, and very sturdy. They're very well designed IMO. as mug as I like this set, though, it's not on my list of "must buys", as there's a few other sets I want more. Thanks again! Quote
Commander Keller Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Nice review about the podracers. Thanks again Igoran for posting it. Still on the fence about that one. Brilliant figs and nice set overall but not sure I will have the dough for it. Decisions....decisions... Quote
prateek Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Awesome, thanks for the review Igoran! Too bad it's too overpriced, or else I would get it. Let's hope for some sales. Quote
Ceroknight Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Awesome, thanks for the review Igoran! Too bad it's too overpriced, or else I would get it. Let's hope for some sales. I agree, the figs are great and the podracers look quite accurate as LEGO goes.. Lets hope for some sales Quote
TheDarkness Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Those pics look great! Lego have really done a great job on nearly all the new minifigs this time around, the detail is sublime. The price point has already been mentioned, I too agree and will be hoping to pick it up online cheaper along the way Quote
Darth CJ Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 (edited) Here is the description of the hoth set: Get ready to attack! Aeroeza Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Here is the description of the hoth set1 ...Luke Skywalker in Bacta tank, and it is handled by Medizindroiden 2-1B... I think some German crept into that description! It should read 'Medical Droid 221 Baker Street' home of a particularly good and investigative Doctor and his heroin injecting sidekick! Quote
