Well, an A- or B-Wing does make sense. Obi Wan's Starfighter was released after the Clone Wars's success. The A- and B- Wing's main appearances are in the Battle of Endor and against the Executor, so they would probably be the best UCSs to release after it. I'm skeptical about the B-Wing (it's a huge ship), but the A-Wing is small enough yet iconic, if we're speaking of the Executor.

I don't really know which other ship could be sold, taken from the movies, which is small enough to justify a 100-120€ UCS. Even the ARC170 would probably be released as one of the bigger UCS sets just to be in the same league of the famous 7191.

TIE/ln fighter?

The A-wing does seem to make more sense, as its small size (only about 7.6m) would justify it being a 100-euro set. I hope it's true...

You are right, they haven't yet sold an Ultimate Tie Fighter or Bomber, yet.

Hmm, now speculating becomes a lot tougher, because either an "all Empire" year with Executor + Tie Fighter or a "Empire vs Rebels" with Executor vs A-Wing still seem legitimate.

I would love a UCS B-Wing. But a UCS A-Wing not so much, I thought they were the most boring star-fighter in the SW Universe until I saw the JSF.

EDIT: IMHO of course.

as mentioned by Future74 (a few posts above you), the number of minifigs released in a Jabba Palace set could easily rival that of the Death Star. Only better with all the quirky weirdos. i am also looking forward to that day!

Don't know if you guys have seen close ups of the Hoth Echo Base minifigs but anyway here's a link to my flickr witch has some photos I took of the minifigs: 2011 SW Hoth Echo Base 1

Thanks Lord Of The Fries. I looks like Chewi has printed eyes this time, and also TLC appears to have changed the hood mold.

The point is, a Jabba's place revamped would need:

- tons of bricks (= expensive)

- tons of minifigs, many of them with new molds (= even more expensive, since many of them would be made uniquely for this set just to inflate its price)

In the end, I'm sure noone would ever be really satisfied with the result, since those longing for a new Jabba's palace all have a personal "dream version" of it. No matter what TLG will come up with, it will never be on par with the buyer's expectations. Also, the set people want would surely be in the 500-600€ range, and that would scare off too many potential buyers.

I wouldn't want to be the poor soul who gets chosed, one day, for rebuilding that set.

Thank you. :classic:

After all, there seem to be some modifications to existing molds. That's good and makes the set more worthwile. Not that i wouldn't get it anyway - but that's been said already.

Please Lego don't release a jabbas palace nobody wants playsets there for kids!

Well, Jabba's palaca isn't interesting for kids exclusively, you know. It's quite a memorable spot from the OT and one of the more adventurous places for LEGO to design. Since all system sets are toys after all, i would prefer one that catches my AFOL interest. And Jabba's palace certainly does catch more of it than would a Naboo spaceport / Gungan submarine / UCS A wing which one can only look at from a distance or fill in some more less important supporting sets.

I heartly disagree. It's sad to always shove 8038 out of the shelf but this set has clearly shown what can be done with a 100 bucks set. A dozen minifigs, vehicles, a main building, and a supportive structure. But you can also refer to 7666 which was only half the cost or could look at 7754. They all are very good sets full of features, a unique charming and classic potential. In it's own right, 7879 will soon after release attract a numerous bunch of fans who admire the combination of what it actually packs together. Why should TLG entirely fail at a new iteration of Jabba's palace?!

Yes, by todays standards 4480 looks awkward and beyond it's age. But this was a set of 234 parts coming at around 30 USD! For three and a third times this amount i believe that we can be expect some more and better. And TLG knows that we do expect that.

If you deny anything bar perfection, then i am sorry that only yourself could design smothing that fits this standard. TLG has the hard task to present us a good compromise. Something attractive, playable and affordable. I am fairly sure that they will find a way to appeal the majority.

Apparently i vote for a Jabba's palace above a pure UCS show model and i feel a little thrilled that we actually might get one.

I agree. 8038 has set the bar for all playsets now. I think a Jabba's Palace set would need a lot of minifigs, and I wouldn't mind if the building itself was awful if we got a lot of nice 'figs for a good price.

Maybe 7879 will be the template for future play-sets. Imagine this; A fold out structure consisting of a bunch of random archways in a mixture of tan and dark tan. In the centre of one section a Han in carbonite display to the right of him a jail and to the left a droid torture chamber. In the opposite section is Jabbas throne and area for the band. I feel like I'm forgetting something... Oh, the Rancor pit, well that could just go above Jabba.

Minifigs: Han Solo, Boush, Oola, EV9D9, Jedi Luke, Bib Fortuna, Some random character nobody has even noticed & Jabba

Playfunctions: Melt R2 D2s feet in the droid torture chamber, opening and closing doors in the jail, crane function Rancor claw for grabbing Luke and Oola, sliding throne, something that rotates - kids just love rotating stuff.

Or they could have Rancor warning signs and no Rancor, the same way Echo Base has Wampa warning signs and no Wampas! That would work perfectly! :sarcasm_hmpf:

Lego could release a 100% accurate, to scale jabba's palace with 207 new and improved minifigures for 20 bucks and someone in the AFOL community would still complain about it:

'Bloo Bloo Bloo OVERPRICED BLOO BLOO TOO MANY/NOT ENOUGH MINIFIGURES, BLOO NOT ACCURATE ENOUGH Fallenangel Bloo'

Realistically We'll be getting an updated version of the 03(?) sets, but with Printed Jabba, Slave Leia. (Maybe Oola instead) 2010 Han and Boba W/carbonite. Jedi Luke. Bib fortuna and a few gamorean guards.

Maybe a Rancor if they're generous.

Right next to the random missiles that can be flicked to knock Threepio under the falling Sarlacc arms. Catapult Luke and his skull at a switch to tip Jabba's throne over. Wait, now I'm confusing myself...

EDIT: @simonjedi - I rarely complain about the inclusion/non-inclusion of certain minifigures in sets, and when I do, it's typically less about the minifigures themselves than how they affect other aspects of the set.

Thanks! The minifigs do look good. I can't tell though if Leia's hair is a new mould, or the one used in Battle of Endor? And if it's the existing mould, is it in reddish-brown, or dark brown? She looks good, though.

I was wondering if there was any close-ups of the actual set in the place you got those pictures from? Thanks.

I'm an adult, and I love play sets. I'm not the type who like to just sit and look at my sets, I like to be able to play with them, and have room inside to have play around with my minifigures. I'm quite sure (but also kind of hoping  !) that I'm not the only one around here that does that!

And I really want a Jabba's Palace set, in fact it's one of the sets I want to see a remake of the most. There's so many possibilities thy could do with it...

i always tell my 4 and 2 year old girls, 'Lego is not for playing with it is for looking at' but they never listen, at least they never touch my Lego!

:look:But secretly you play with it when they're not looking, right? I mean, you wouldn't build a motorized Sandcrawler if you didn't intend to drive it around. Edited by Brickdoctor

Speaking for myself, and I know a whole lot of AFOLs out there, playsets are FANTASTIC. And in my opinion, there just hasn't been enough of them in the Lego SW line. Battle of Endor definitely did raise the bar, and I expect a Jabba's Palace set could surpass even that. I'm definitely waiting on pins and needles to hear news about this set later on next year (Toy Fair possibly?).

That said, there are a few other OT playset-styled sets that I'd love to see. Mos Eisley is even more in need of a redo than Jabba's Palace, and a new Cloud City would be beyond cool.

First of all, I think Leia's hairpiece would be dark brown because in the MF this year she had dark brown hair.

And secondly, the only photos in the book was the one without the box art and the minifigs.

You guys are awesome. :tongue::laugh:

@ISDIronClaw: I thought the remolded chest plate was only for Jedi? Or is there something else I'm missing?

Sorry for the belated reply, work owns me. As an aspiring Darth Vader 501st member, there are actually 4 different Darth Vadars for each of the movies ie. time periods. I won't bore you with the details, but there are differences in his helmet, chest box, belt boxes, shin guards, gloves and etc. Now perhaps Lego has changed the chest armor, but they lack other details. For instance, with the SSD set, Darth Vaders chest box has a green and red light, when in all actuallity it should be blue and red. There are alot of othere minute details that Lego would have a hard time portraying, but they could at least make that change to fit the time period.
