Still no hint of another 2011 UCS besides the SSD?

We'll find out at SDCC in about a week.

Yippee! :sweet: Well, I can certainly see some pieces that ought to be useful, and I want the minifigs, so this is probably one I'll get.

So it is a yellow popsicle Leia's holding... wonder what it's for. Maybe guiding air and spacecraft into the hangar. Though with only one and no vehicles, that doesn't make much sense.

They have to eat something to stay alive!

The minifigures are a good choice, with the exception of no Rebel Soldiers. The set itself is definitly not reminiscent of the movie but I'm fine with that. It's a good set for kids who love playsets and it has several important OT characters so this should sell well, and you can never have enough Tauntauns, right?

After having built the set this morning, yup, it certainly is a 'popsicle' - a neat translucent piece, but I certainly don't have any idea for what either...

The one thing that really irked me (and you certainly don't see it on the hi-res picture), is that the last 2 cm's of the taun taun's tail is made out of rubber (the same as for example plo koon's head is made out of), so there's a nasty seam right in the middle of the tail where the ABS plastic ends and the rubber starts - plus the coloring is slightly off. Ughh!

Really? That's funny. The old Tauntaun didn't have it, and it's not like it's one of the those sharp, dangerous if swallowed pieces. Can't say I like it if that's what we're all getting, either.

Absolutely, the previous taun taun didn't have it, so this was a surprise I could do without. But I'm sure it's about safety - it would be all that much harder to stab someone with the new tail :sarcasm:

Thanks for the hi-res pic grogall

I agree, some nice figs and not a bad parts pack but would still have to be on offer before I buy it. I doubt I would ever actually build this.

You don't know what a popsicle is for? - It's for eating. Clearly a joke by TLG... Ice Planet = ideal storage for Ice lolly's. It's just a pity that this isn't the only thing that looks like a joke in this set.

EDIT: Corrected who I was thanking.

If there is another UCS and if TLG decides to reveal it at SDCC.

Arrrrrrr... My dreams! Stop killing them! Stop now! NOW!!!

(**imagine a pirate on his knees pointing his hook to the clouds moving over the sun**)

Thanks for the pic. It enables to see many details.

Few words about the stickers : they have a very low life expectancy.

But it is even worse when they are applied on a slope with grain. :/

Even on this official pic, a sticker is a bit detached from the 2x2x2 slope.

I think in this instance, it's just a Popsicle really. It's like how they included a mug for Admiral Ackbat in the Home One play set. I like it when Lego does stuff like this. It shows they have a really good sense of humour.

Hans hood piece has had a really remodelling. It looks a lot fluffier that the older version. One thing I do see that's odd about this set is the green tree branch/leaf on the set. Is it meant to be moss? Or actual foliage on hoth? :sceptic:

Thanks for the high res pic Grogall! :sweet:

If they decided to add rubber parts to the Taun taun they should perhaps have made a 'slit' in the stomach out of rubber so that you could part insert a figure to recreate that 'keeping Luke alive scene from the film'.

... from vague memory I seem to remember the original Kenner Taun taun to have a similar feature...

That greenery jumped out at me too. I was thinking based on where it was that it was for the tauntauns to eat. They must have to import it though. :look:

I'm pretty sure that underneath the ice on hoth, theres greenery everywhere  . Seriously.

All and all, I'm okay with the set, there are many parts I like, but somehow when they were all put together, I don't like it anymore. I may just get it because the figures are good, and the pieces. May want to make my own hoth base some day.

Thanks for the beautiful Hi-Res Grogall!

Can we expect a review soon? :look:

A closer look at the medicarmourommand centre (pedro, did I spell that right?) reveals that the gantry includes four of the sliding tube pieces like the ones in 7869 and is cleanly mounted on a line of tiles. This suggests two things:

- That it can be raised or lowered, presumably to slide an X-wing underneath :sweet:

- That it can be removed (as I initially suspected) to be placed where said X-wing can land :sweet:

Of course, I'll have to ask gratefulnat to confirm this...

I'm also curious about the floating 2x2 round brick. What is its purpose?

I think it acts as the crane to transport the crates with the modified 2x2 tiles.

I'm wondering why the pieces supporting the ladder on the "gantry" are barley attached

You don't think they smell bad on the inside?

Probably a mistake they didn't catch. I remember someone did a review in the RA of a car, and a plate on the bottom was sort of half attached.

But I wonder if thats due to stress being put on the connections (unlikely cause I don't see what would be applying the force) Or maybe it's just bad building :look:
