Lord Of The Fries Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Hold on, In that poster you guys are talking about, where is the 2 ewoks (that come in Ewok Attack) if Ben Kenobi (with hood) or young Obi-Wan is there? Quote

Its a strange poster - it has a real mix of figures on it - some from last year, some from this, and even a couple from the Death Star! Quote
wokajablocka Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 (edited) I just received my new Sith Infiltrator and it came with a limited edition (of 50,000) collectors poster 2011 - I've not spotted this before is it new? I'm in the UK I havent seen this nor did I get one with any of my new sets. Nice little bonus. I also noticed on the Comic Con minifig poster that was given out was missing old Obi from the faclon set. The young Obi form the pod racers set was there so it was not a compleate minifig list. mutley777 Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 This is the poster we are getting in the UK. Quote
jallenuk Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 The poster was packed along with the sets - It didn't come in the actual box. I now have 4, as got one with each set I had ordered from a UK based retailer, so not sure if its available elsewhere. Quote

Thego Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 What retailer is that? I got mine from Woolworth's. Quote
jallenuk Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 What retailer is that? I got mine from Very - Woolworths is part of the same group. I wouldn't recommend them though - the delivery service was terrible and they messed up 4 deliveries - It just took 5 days of waiting in for the lego to arrive! I did get a fantastic discount for the inconvenience though! I got the Falcon, Republic Frigate, Podracers, and Sith infiltrator for £258 instead of £380! Quote
Vindicare Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Are these posters available in the USA? They must not be, or I'm just really unlucky. I got every set minus the Ewok Attack and no poster... Quote

StoutFiles Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) It annoys me that every time they put "Limited Edition" on something it in turn becomes LESS valuable, because more people see it as a collector's item and preserve it, increasing future mint supply. That said, I wouldn't want it because CW Anakin is hideous. Edited August 1, 2011 by StoutFiles Quote
wokajablocka Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Id like a poster but im sure we will miss out again here in Australia. Quote

Agreed. If TLG really wants people to buy lots of a set and stock up on them, the best way is to make it a really extraordinary set. Tons of people love and buy the modular buildings, everyone knows beforehand that they're going to sell well on the aftermarket, tons of people stock up on them to sell on BL, and after all that purchasing by AFOLs, other AFOLs will still pay double MSRP or more for the set after it's discontinued. They don't say Special Edition or Limited Edition on them, even if by TLG's definition they are; they're just good quality sets. Quote

Like Cloud city, everyone wants it but could you imagin if they re-released this set the same as the original release. This would bring down the price strongly of the origianl set and render it pritty much worthless. As the set stands now its one of the most expensive SW sets avaliable for the amount of parts that you get. But I would love a new version of CC but now a re-release to conserve the high price of this set. Ive read that people where picking this up @ Target on clearance for $50, nice little investment. The CC set was not rare when released but people fell in love with the printed Boba and now its become a collector set. All other minifigs (some exculsive) are not that expensive to buy. It has a few rare elemnts but nothing too special so it become desirable way after it was not avaliable any more. Now days sets seem to be high priced even if you still can get them, people are putting the rare lable on them. Edited August 1, 2011 by wokajablocka Quote

It's just the few parts and, of course, the minifigs that are desired. In the latter's case, they weren't really rare or sought after at the time the set was in production because no one knew arm printing would become a rarity and the other exclusive minifigs wouldn't be rereleased. Now days sets seem to be high priced even if you still can get them, people are putting the rare lable on them. even if the set was re-released it wouldn't affect the desirability for collectors of the original, as it wouldn't be in the same box, the colours of the figs wouldn't be EXACTLY the same as the originals, etc etc The same goes for anything else - as in another thread, some people are moaning that another release of the UCS MF would "devalue" the present one, which to a certain extent it would, as it now seems to be going for silly money on ebay etc, but it wouldn't make it any the less desirable for collectors (and those of us who hadn't quite decided they were going to spend that much on single sets when it was available....) Having said that, I agree that re-releasing something merely to make it available, especially a long time after its original release, is pointless - far better to to completely rework it with new techniques and pieces, to *hopefully* make a better model.... or even, given the fact that the main market IS for kids, better to play with.... Vindice Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Who cares if it devalues the current set anyway?! Since when should TLG be encouraging the sort of price hikes you see on ebay?! Lego is first and foremost a childs toy and it should not be out of the price range of the average child or they will instead start buying the cheap chinese knock offs you get in places like wilkinsons. (This is already happening!) If the target market is diminished by bad pricing structures then we can all kiss goodbye to Lego. Quote
Aanchir Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Something to keep in mind is that "Limited Edition" and "Special Edition" are just how TLG identifies store exclusives. Thus, the point of the packaging is to help people who see the sets on store shelves that these sets will be harder to find elsewhere, since they're exclusive to one chain of stores. The LEGO Shop website in fact uses the "Hard to Find" designation for these same sets a lot of the time. Quote

If anything, that should show them that a CC set is wanted and extra minifig printing makes collectors lose their minds. TLG would be stupid not to make a new Cloud City. Whether they go all out or stay in the $100 range remains to be seen. Quote

Or any UCS, for that matter... I know when I was a kid, there's no way I was going to be able to buy a $400-$500 set, much less my parents letting me. Quote
Parrothead Rasmus Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 This is probably a stupid question, but to what store is the new Naboo Starfighter exclusive to in the U.S.? Target? (I posted this question in the Star Wars questions section a day or two ago and didn't get a response). Thanks! Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Correct, the Naboo Starfighter is a Target exclusive priced @ $49.99. Quote

Kids no but some parents would buy it for theyr kid who probaly has it in his/her Lego bin. Also I think most UCS sets at targeted at AFOLs. Edited August 3, 2011 by LEGOMAN132 Quote
Raider Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 i agree with you there targeted at the AFOL and TFOL Quote
