Vindicare Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Kids no but some parents would buy it for theyr kid who probaly has it in his/her Lego bin. Also I think most UCS sets at targeted at AFOLs. Exactly. My response was to the post I quoted. Saying that Lego is first and foremost a childs toy and...whatever else, scroll up a few posts to where I quoted him. Quote
helicaon Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Something to keep in mind is that "Limited Edition" and "Special Edition" are just how TLG identifies store exclusives. Thus, the point of the packaging is to help people who see the sets on store shelves that these sets will be harder to find elsewhere, since they're exclusive to one chain of stores. The LEGO Shop website in fact uses the "Hard to Find" designation for these same sets a lot of the time. ....which is irritating, I always shout at the screen - "You MAKE the things, how hard can it be for YOU to find them?" Parrothead Rasmus Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Correct, the Naboo Starfighter is a Target exclusive priced @ $49.99. Alrighty. Many thanks! Quote
Vindice Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 I agree that the UCS sets are a totally different story, they are aimed at the serious adult colelctor of which there are thousands but Cloud city was a playset, if there is a call for it to be made then it should be made available even if there are limited modifications. I'd much rather see TLG release an older set with little to no modification so that kids can have the chance to re-create scenes out of Empire with it, than see it in the lock-up of some Lego profiteer that buys them just to sell them on some day at four times the original price. Yeah I agree with the last part. I refuse to be held to ransom by some ebay scummer asking for £779. Quote

The_Chosen_1 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Who's Ian? Doesn't sound like a very cool glactic name. He's from the new "The Padawan Menace" television special. Wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, though. Quote

Hinckley Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Well now you have remembered, this might be a good time too! Oh gosh, yes. Sorry. I'll get on this after dinner. I'm not taking him out of his blister pack though. Ian = I < Han Don't give away the surprise ending, ya little jerk. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Lol Hinckley!! I do agree though. It might not seem like a big deal to some, but the TV special is still pretty recent and a lot of folks missed it. I for one was genuinely surprised by the ending and would have been mad to have it ruined for me. Quote
Hinckley Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 He's from the new "The Padawan Menace" television special. Wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, though. See? There's a good guy. Lol Hinckley!! I do agree though. It might not seem like a big deal to some, but the TV special is still pretty recent and a lot of folks missed it. I for one was genuinely surprised by the ending and would have been mad to have it ruined for me. I saw it with an audience of adults and everybody gasped when that happened. It was brilliantly written and the surprise is so ... for lack of a better word ... cute! So, I will ban the next person who gives it away. But, seriously. Giving away the ending sucks. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 (edited) I saw it with an audience of adults and everybody gasped when that happened. They probably gasped because of the implications of tampering with a prominent OT character's backstory during a CW video. The_Chosen_1 Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Obviously it wasn't meant to be canon, but it was still a really fun ending. I was actually surprised with how much Lucasfilm let them get away with. Quote
RileyC Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 I'm not taking him out of his blister pack though. Nerd I actually haven't seen it yet. It's rather embarrassing, does anyone have a link to it online? New Zealand TV won't get this. Ever. Quote

Hinckley Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 So, at ComicCon this year, I was fortunate enough to be invited to the premier of LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace which I thoroughly enjoyed. Not only did I enjoy the movie, we were all given a free pop, popcorn and candy. For a "premiere" it was very laid back, but still exciting to be part of something like that. Granted, not a lot of people had heard about the movie and it was only 24 hours away from being played on Cartoon Network, but it was still cool. They gave us all a free Exclusive Ian fig, which the way it is packaged in a blister pack, makes it clear that it will be packaged with the DVD when it is released in September. Then when you see pics of the DVD packaging, it becomes even more obvious. Anyway, here's Ian: They gave us a free poster too. I forgot to photograph that and it's past my bedtime, but I'll get to it. There's a cool rendered LEGO Rancor in it. It features in the movie as well. I would love to see that mold be released in ABS! They probably gasped because of the implications of tampering with a prominent OT character's backstory during a CW video. (non-canonness of the video aside) I doubt a cartoon about the LEGO versions of the characters needs to be taken so seriously. Obviously it wasn't meant to be canon, but it was still a really fun ending. I was actually surprised with how much Lucasfilm let them get away with. You put it better than I did. Nerd I actually haven't seen it yet. It's rather embarrassing, does anyone have a link to it online? New Zealand TV won't get this. Ever. It goes on sale in September. More than the ending itself? Don't be a troll. Not that I wouldn't have minded if Jar Jar wasn't utterly and disgustingly destroyed in the canon . But then again, he's already been frozen in carbonite... They did a couple of things that were more inside LEGO/SW nerd jokes meant for adults. But Jar Jar being blown up was probably the most satisfying. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 I doubt a cartoon about the LEGO versions of the characters needs to be taken so seriously. That was meant to be a joke. Evidently I forgot to add an emoticon to the end of the sentence. So... this is the same minifig as the one in the Blu-Ray release, right? Quote
