Why would TLC design a product badly on purpose? default_hmpf.gif I think you guys are either exaggerating or simply have a wrong image of a BARC speeder in your mind. I think you should compare it with some reference pics. BARC speeders are blocky, so TLG did a pretty good job on it, I think. At least it's much better than the one from the old CTT.

BARC_profile.jpg

Without seeing the clear pics yet and just the blurry prelims, I still think TLG's version would be blocky. Believe me I've studied 'numerous' photos, screenshots, and videos of BARCs and I've always seen them as "slim" long speeders, and not at all blocky. Maybe the other peeps share the same sentiment. I know it could be done, as proven by other BARC MOCers, and that's why most fans are a bit disappointed with the 'blockiness'.

Comparing the CTT BARC and this new one, I am really disappointed. I would rather have the old one.

I think we should all know better by now that BP vehicles are not to be expected to be very accurate models, simply because the designers have limited number of parts to work with and the fact that the main selling point of BPs are the minifigs and the vehicles are just add-ons.

TLG's lawyers are on a rampage getting flickr, brickshelf and similar sites to ban members posting preliminary and confidential pictures. - The pictures are copyrighted and not to be shown outside the retailers' catalog. Which actually means that retailers sharing that catalog is violating their agreement with TLG - see how this quickly gets very serious?

Refrain from deeplinking pictures on Eurobricks - and please refrain from covering yourself by saying you've got them here. We've been getting hell because some people have written that they've got the pictures from Eurobricks in their flickr photstreams.

We do not support leaking preliminary pictures.

We cannot avoid talking about what we see, but we can avoid being part of them spreading.

Crystal clear KimT.

Shame I was too late to see the prelim pictures, but the policy by EB (and even TLC) are totally understandable.

I'll have to be patient for them to resurface.

Point well taken. But from what I saw in the pictures which are now gone (a photographic memory would help right about now  ), the speeder looked worse than the speeders in the Phase II and Assassin Droid BPs. Now, the speeder itself still could be preliminary. I hope so.

And as I said before, the speeder certainly isn't going to stop me from buying multiple sets.

I actually thought it was weird that they had clone heads... aren't they supposed to be regular humans, not clones?

A quick search on Wookieepedia says:

Right, but we had this discussion when the first ones were released. There's no sense in repeating it now.

And as I said before, the speeder certainly isn't going to stop me from buying multiple sets.

Exactly, so why would TLG need to put loads of effort into its design?

I'm pretty sure that will be preliminary. The average standard of modern design is way above that, even for a battlepack.

I'm thinking the mandos will all have the same face as boba

That is a possibility, but as they were recruits and not Clones (which Boba was) it would be more likely for TLG to use the Rebel 'grumpy' heads than the, quite frankly ugly, Boba one. :sceptic:

Or maybe TLG will go Supa Cheap and use a plain fleshie head :cry_sad:

Well, doesn't look very promising this year in terms of SW, I'll probably only be getting the battlepacks and whatever the 26.99 set is if it's good.

Well I for one reckon you are being a little over sceptic with that remark, I mean about half of this year was remakes and out of the first 6 sets for next year only 1 remake(clone battle pack) unless you count the v-wing and battle of naboo as remakes but I don't because the other v-wing was republic and this one is imperial and we have'nt had a set named battle of naboo we have just had a battle droid carrier set, but if you are a ot fan then I understand that you are upset or angry about no ot sets but what ot fans have to realise is that they cannot keep making remakes of ot sets and currently I can think of 3 ot sets that aren't remakes ( endor battle packs or a yavin base set).

Well there's actually loads of OT stuff TLG could make im not going to name some sets they could make though

And they actually thought off making a yavin base set but it got scrapped :cry_sad:

Yes there is loads of stuff but how many would be remakes, almost all of them

I think they made the BARC crappy and unrealistic on purpose, since most BPs' vehicles are non-canon (save the Ice Cutter, which few people even knew about).

isnt the ice cutter canon, im pretty sure the ice cutter appears in one scene, although its pretty "far away" in the scene

That's what I meant by save the Ice Cutter.

It's a deleted scene, but it's canonical.

The BARC speeder and STAP from the original BPs were canonical, too.

The STAP, yes, but I've never seen a two-seat BARC Speeder with gun emplacement in the back. :sceptic:

im still pretty sure that the icecutter appears in the scene, where you see the outside area of the hoth base, where the rebels prepare for a ground assault, will check out the movie on of the comming days and try to post when in the movie it appears

at 23 minuts 43 seconds in the movie, i think i spot the icecutter although its in the backgrond

Now those plain happy smiling fleshie heads certainly won't fit well with the pacifist Death Watch Mandos, so that's highly improbable.

Funny isn't it the Mando's have a short speeder bike and the clones have the long BARC speeder bike eh ?

Nice observation. It's actually the Mando's short speeder that is a bit out of the norms, since the BARC speeder is pretty consistent with other long speeder bikes in the SW universe.
