Brickdoctor Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 From what I found out on the website Emperor got the link to the pic for Windu's fighter, it sounds like the set will be around $55 US, but that makes it nearly $74 NZ dollars which is insane. My guess is it will be around the Swamp speeders price. Hope this is okay and not off topic. CF I dont't think it's off-topic, since it's still an upcoming set. Either way, remember that this is probably going to be the spring release, essentially 2011's Swamp Speeder. More releases! Just carry bags this time though. [snip] [snip] sorry for excessivly large photos. StarWars.com article: Link Brickshelf gallery: Link Nice finds. These look like they could be insulated bags for food to me. Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 This set is a lot like the despicable 6212 X-wing in that LEGO is releasing virtually the exact same thing with a few cosmetic changes, different minifigures, and new extras. It appears they do not feel the need to improve, or even alter, their current design for the Delta-7B despite the fact that if kids wanted the same ship in different colors they would probably just buy multiples and paint the parts. (Or replace them, or something.) Combine this with my dislike for the ugly Delta-7B "retcon starfighter" in general and you have the reason why I will definitely pass on this. Well TLG could release different color packs that come with a jedi and atromech and you ust place the colors on the white JSF and presto no more need for kids painting them.... Quote

Despite the very strong sentiments you have against the Delta 7Bs, I actually agree with you that TLG seemed to have stuck with the same old design of the JSF and never made any significant changes/improvements (like a tapered point, shorter front hull, shorter rear, etc.). That's why even me, a self-confessed JSF lover, will pass on this set simply because it has nothing more to offer with regards to the JSF design. Quote
Mr Man Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Hmm As I already pointed out earlier I don't like the new BARC at all, however having thought a bit more about it I think that it harks back a bit to my favorite era of Lego, i.e. 1999-2003 with the brilliant but not particularly accurate sips like the 7151 Sith Infiltrator. I think I am becoming a bit spoiled and expecting TLC to make new molds and make everything more accurate. Quote

mautara Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Obi-Wan's Eta-2 would be even better than Windu's. We've only had the blue one with the Hyperdrive Ring, but I'm still waiting for the dark red one from the Battle of Coruscant. I totally agree with you. Why didn't they make the red one with the different ring instead of the UCS one? Quote
Derek Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Hmm. I haven't been keeping up with this thread as often as I used to, but I just thought I would say that I'm not too impressed with the new JSF set. If it was Mace's purple Eta, I would buy it without a thought. However, I think this is just another Delta JSF in a line of progressively worse JSF's. As for the price, It looks like a $30 set, but considering Plo's is $25, this one will easily be $35-40. As of right now, I think I will pass on this. I'm not completely feeling 2011 Star Wars-wise. I honestly think it is because of the gaping lack of OT sets. Quote
vexorian Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I just hope battle of naboo isn't too expensive. It would really make up for the not-so outstanding BPs (I was never big on clones and mandalorians look just like blue clones to me). Quote
Brickdoctor Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I totally agree with you. Why didn't they make the red one with the different ring instead of the UCS one? The System-scale dark red Eta-2 came in the Ultimate Space Battle set: Quote

IMO, it is $5-10 too expensive. It's just a big droid carrier. Quote

It would really make up for the not-so outstanding BPs (I was never big on clones and mandalorians look just like blue clones to me). The rumored price is $30. EDIT: prateek beat me to it. Either way, it's probably going to have at least a dozen minifgs, which makes it totally worth it. Edited October 9, 2010 by Brickdoctor Quote
commanderneyo Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Out of all the upcoming sets my favourite would probably be the clone battle pack as its a cheap way to get new types of clones. Quote
Churchill Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I have to agree with Derek. The lack of OT sets has me less than enthusiastic. Churchill Quote
The Legonater Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Ah, now we have a STAP battle pack I actually don't mind this set- the speeder and STAPsremiond me of the scene from Blue Shadow Virus. Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Last few years the January wave has been disappointing This year I won't hestitate getting every set, the minifigs are just sooo great and that droid carrier - you'll need to help me from buying scores... Quote
Praiter Yed Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Sorry if this has already been mentioned (there's a lot to read through here). BUT, does the Astromech Droid with 7915 Imperial V-Wing look metallic silver? Also OT fans might like this info re R2-Q2. Quote

Yeah, it does look like it'll be metallic silver, and I think it's great to get an astromech in a very cool-looking color. Interesting to know that this astromech has OT 'connections'. Quote

Fallenangel Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 (edited) Not like many of their reissues based on sets released after 2002 change much anyway. I though the new AT-ST and AT-RT releases changed a lot from the previous renditions. Which goes back to why LEGO re-hashes some vehicles and not others (like the X-wing). EDIT: Mr Man what's with the sig quote involving my name? Edited October 10, 2010 by fallenangel327 Quote

Delta 38 Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Oops, I joined the party late. This seems like an ideal set to me. I don't own Mace Windu yet, and I'm rather fond of astromechs. Added to that, this will be the third Jedi starfighter I own. I'm not sure what the other droid in the set is, but it looks interesting, so yay. The head reminds me of Grievous. Quote
Corvus Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Well, I have to say I'm disappointed by Mace's fighter. It's a little more colorful than I was expecting, but most of that is stickers and random tiles sitting on top of the plates. Normally this would be an easy pass...if it weren't for the tactical droid. Quote

The original droid BP had a STAP, but it was the brown one. The speeder is the same on flown by the tactical droid in Blue Shadow Virus, but it's supposed to be an expensive civilian craft by Mobquet- the same one owned by Count Dooku. CW has kind of ruined that backstory, though, by making them standard issue craft for Geonosians. Quote

I think you must have it confused with something else. Nothing to do with Mobquet. Here's the reference to Blue Shadow Virus for anyone who can't remember. Quote
