Masked Builder Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 What about a build your own RT droid at the lego store You can do that? Quote
Clone OPatra Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 You can do that? I believe it was just a hopeful suggestions. There is no build your own droid currently. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Yeah it does seem it has become a trend that TLG releases a couple of new astromechs per year. This year we got R4-P44 (ARC-170) and R7-D4 (Plo's), and next year we'll get R8-B7 (Mace's) and R2-Q2 (V-Wing). It's really a good way to collect astromechs since they come in relatively affordable sets. Now all we need is a special edition R2-KT... There is actually an official R2-KT, but it's only available to certain employees. See more here. Quote

I wish I could get R2-KT now! And maybe as a bonus in one of the upcoming sets, George Lucas! Man would they sell! Hint hint TLG CF Quote

Hint hint TLG CF If you read the article, R2-KT was a test print for the new R2 printing design. It's also unlkely that they'll release such a nimor character. Her only appearance in CW was momentarily during a Republic Gunship briefing scene. Quote

The ice cutter from this years Rebel BP, is in a background shot in ESB. It's time to get different astromech's other than more R2-D2's ! Bricking.....you will ! Quote

Klaus-Dieter Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Thank you very much for this link to the picture of , brickdoctor! R2-KT looks ! It's time to get different astromech's other than more R2-D2's ! I totally agree with you, lightningtiger! Esp. for the OT fans amongst us, it slowly gets boring to only always get R2-D2. The only three OT astromech droids TLG has released until now were the red one, R2-D2 and the one in the ISD/DS. So it's really time to get a new astromech droid for the OT, too! Klaus-Dieter Quote
Delta 38 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Looks good, though I find it odd why'd TLC package Mace's JSF with some droids and vehicles. I guess plain JSFs are too boring. Not a fan of the JSF, everything else looks great though. I'd very much rather get Plo Koon's JSF over this one, but I'll wait for more pics till I decide. The starfighter reminds me a bit of Ahsoka's starfighter (which I own), as they're both limited edition (supposedly), both contain extra droids and both have a similar function (what I'm guessing is hidden flick-fire missiles). They likely included the extra droids and vehicles because they were intending to release it as an exclusive set, like Ahsoka's. So long as I actually find it (somehow, I managed to buy Ahsoka's starfighter outside of the exclusive retailer, which isn't available in my area), I don't mind. As for getting R2-D2, I want a new version as I only own the old head print. One is enough, though, and I'll only complain after I finally do get one. Quote

Darth Jar Jar Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Okay that's what I thought. But it would be amazing we could have R2-KT and so on Back On Topic: Maces starfighter is bland but its not TLG's fault's its TCW fault for making it so bland Quote
KimT Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 I was at a Factory Tour this week with the Danish LUG - Byggepladen and I managed to get a look at the January 2011 Star Wars sets. They look great in their final boxes - they're quite similar to the prelims we've seen. The T6 has a bunch of sticker though. The figs are all awesome and well done. I really like the Bounty Hunter ship, it's much cooler up close and personal, than I imagined it to be. The mandalorian battle pack is also great and the final torso print is pretty good All 4 mandos are the same though. The V-wing looks really cool and so does Mace Windu's Starfighter - I am soo getting that one. (along with the rest, since I am a collector ) Quote

Did you get a good look at the V-Wing astromech? If so, was it gray/silver? Quote
mautara Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 The System-scale dark red Eta-2 came in the Ultimate Space Battle set: I meant the Obi-Wan one of the episode two. It's the classical starfighter with the triangular shape and a different ring compared to the episode three one. But it doesn't matter. Mine was just a moan Quote
commanderneyo Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Sounds great! Did you get a good look at the V-Wing astromech? If so, was it gray/silver? I imagine it was.Kimt seemed to only mention new things he noticed so I imagine it is what it looked like in the prelims Quote
Walter Kovacs Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 CallMePie was looking for clarification on whether the astromech was the Pearl Light Gray equivalent TLG is moving to (can't remember the new color's name) or if it is Light Bluish Gray. the prelim pics we have are tough to make out. If KimT got a good close look, he might be able to tell us. Quote
master windu 7495 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 My first thoughts on these sets are: 7913 Clone Trooper Battle Pack (Clone Trooper, ARF/C (?) Trooper & Bomb Squad Trooper: I Think that this will have the new clone troopers that are being used for season 3 (like the image from the comic con) however season 3 does still seem to still be phase 1 clones so perhaps this season will be a crossover. If this battle pack is phase 1 clones I think we will see either 2 or 3 new clones but perhaps some of them will not be new ones i.e. another clone gunner or another captain rex etc. 7914 Mandalorian Battle Pack (3 Mandalorians?): This battle pack is very clear, I think 2 or 3 standard deathwatch soldiers with different weapons/gear but same torso and helmet and then 1 commander (hopefully with a darksaber!! ). Sigh. Both battle packs come with 4 minifigs as always. 4 mandalorians and in the clone battle pack, 2 bomb squad troopers, 1 commando trooper and 1 arf trooper. Quote

KimT Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 I didn't get a good look at the Astromech, sorry about that Female pilot? What? Where? Quote
prateek Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 The T6 has a bunch of sticker though. Did Saesee Tiin have the same head and such? Quote
master windu 7495 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 (edited) mace windu's js=win! it's also limited edition. can't wait to get loads of xmas money and spend it wheb all these come out. ct battle pack looks cool. i love the designs on them! mando battle pack= it's about time! hopefully, the death watch from cw series 2 are looked at more when TLG look for more set ideas. imperial v wing= why? these only appeared for about 20 secs in ROTS, though it might be something from TFU2. New astro droid though! battle of naboo= hopefully they change the gungan warrior to captain tarpal rather than having yet another nameless character. looks good though. bounty hunter gunship looks epic! aurra sing is crap though; i hate the hair. embo and printed assassin droid are excellent ideas. t6 jedi shuttle is the highlight(minus windu's starfighter) of the CONFIRMED 2011 sets. at last we get quinlan vos, saesee tiin and shaak ti. this set is my first priority of the new sets that have been revealed so far. hopefully more are revealed for the first wave. summary= all looks good. 1 problem: almost all cw. surely an ot will be revealed. after all, lego has released at least 1 every year.
