Sir Dillon Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Hello! The Inventor's House, based on the house from the movie 9. More pictures in the Brickshelf Gallery, once public. Please let me know what you think! Quote
Fugazi Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 This looks FABULOUS! Can't wait to see more pics, if you'll excuse me I'll go pick my jaw up from the floor. Quote
Oky Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Wow! That looks awesome! Instantly recognizable! Very good work on the jaggedy walls, broken windows, and other details! Cute 9 microfig too, though I think it would have looked better in brown. This is probably one of the only 9 MOCs here on EB, aside from my own 9 creation, and it certainly is a great one. I'd love to see more 9 MOCs from you! Quote
Smack Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Wow! This is a brilliant creation! I have not seen the movie but I can only assume that it is right on the money build-wise. I really like the staircase and the mixing of old grey and new. Kinda makes me want to see the movie! Quote
Zanki Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Wow, that's amazing, I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 WoW, this creation just goes to show that there is beauty in destruction. I still am amazed how a half-devastated house can look that beautiful. Fantastic job on this one Sir Dillon! I'm also amazed how those two remaining pillars in the left side of the ground floor can carry the weight of the second floor above. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Thanks for the comments everyone! Cute 9 microfig too, though I think it would have looked better in brown. I'd love to see more 9 MOCs from you! In the movie, 9 definitely looks tan to me. Brown wouldn't be bad though. I don't have any plans for more 9 creations, but it's a possibility. I wish I had enough pieces to build the church. Perhaps one day. Quote
Blackicep8ntball Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 This is a fantastic "destruction" creation, and a nice recreation of the house in 9. You really captured the post-apocalyptic, creepy environment well. Really nice use of the different shades of gray too - a VERY effective way to give it an old, time-worn look. And *sigh*... that staircase... its just haunting. Out of curiosity, how sturdy is the build on this guy? Quote
user Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Very nice creation It looks great! The architecture is spot on and I love all of the little details good job! And as Oky said I'd definitely like to see some more 9 creations from you. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Excellent 'Sir Dillon' - but man, that is a home repairer's dream job $$$$$ ! Great work and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Sir Dillon Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 Thanks guys! Out of curiosity, how sturdy is the build on this guy? This obviously isn't one of my more solid builds, but I don't think it's quite as fragile as it looks. It stands on its own pretty well, but I wouldn't recommend moving it. Quote
Big Cam Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I have yet to see this move, but this MOC is awesome. I can only assume it's spot on to the real thing (figuratively speaking) You never let me down for really well done MOC's. Quote
Oky Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 In the movie, 9 definitely looks tan to me. Brown wouldn't be bad though. It's more of a dark tan though, and in the dark atmosphere of the movie, it seems more brown than tan to me. I don't have any plans for more 9 creations, but it's a possibility. I wish I had enough pieces to build the church. Perhaps one day. That would be wonderful, with the crashed airplane and all! I hope you will be able to make it some day! I have yet to see this move I wouldn't recommend moving it. Quote
Flare Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Amazing work on this! It looks like you put a lot of work into this I can't wait to see more! Quote
Delta 38 Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Great! It has a good ruined feel to it. Nice that you have an interior, though I think it's a bit too colourful. The building might have been darker too, but I'm not sure. Quote
Legostein Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Hello! It was a cool film, and your creation from it is perfectly recognisable! A fantastic building. It is very hard to depict something unpredictable like destruction. It must have been a hard job to place every single piece to resemble destruction. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
ameline Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 How on earth did you manage to get that to stay up there? I would worry that if I sneezed in the near vicinity it would collapse. Amazing! Quote
Sirens-of-Titan Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Amazing work Sir Dillon! One of the most realistic ruined buildings I've seen made from bricks! I can't wait to see more! Quote
