Commander Tac Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 (edited) Soon after man had perfected the first robots it wasn't long before they were made into huge metal soldiers. Delta 3.0, a prototype war mecha, was one of the best. It excelled in every lab test it faced. But there was a catch. Like a certain trilogy it started developing much faster than the engineers could have imagined. It was November the 22nd, 2157 when it escaped. It rampaged through the streets, smashing through walls and killing anyone in it's path. It was November the 28th when the nuke was launched. A total of 560,284 people died. You can now see the wall with all it's details. "Hey, since when was firing at a robots big behind in the brochure?" How many times has Poor Charlie died now? I lost count. "James..." "Yes dear?" "I never liked your hair..." "Noooooo!" I apologize for the rubbish editing in the first two photos, this is the biggest MOC I've ever done and it wouldn't fit on the paper so I had to use the clone toll to extend it! The scene itself took me about 9 hours, about 4 was spent building and 5 desperately searching for pieces. Thanks for your time. Edited July 28, 2010 by Commander Tac Quote
Blackicep8ntball Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 (edited) This landscape scene really helps show off your MOC; you've really made the robot the focal point. The wall and the shattered pieces are really well done too. Quality stuff. Forgive my ignorance, but are those minifig accessories on the military folk brickarms or something from TLG? I missed about 4 years of Lego production so there are certainly parts I'm not yet familiar with! Edited July 28, 2010 by Blackicep8ntball Quote
Commander Tac Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Great job! Thanks! This landscape scene really helps show off your MOC; you've really made the robot the focal point. The wall and the shattered pieces are really well done too. Quality stuff. Forgive my ignorance, but are those minifig accessories on the military folk brickarms or something from TLG? I missed about 4 years of Lego production so there are certainly parts I'm not yet familiar with! All the guns, grenades and rockets are from BA, if you haven't got any I highly recommend them! Quote
M:tron engineer Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Yeah, guns&grenades are from brickarms, those NVG(nighvision googles) are from brickforge nad lastly that visor(last page) is from hazel(at least he used that name, im not sure if he still sells this). Nice vigg, like the scenary(big hole in shape of 'bot) and overall feling. Also story in great, you could evolve it into comic too. Quote
Smack Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Great MOC! I like the wall/rubble effect, the mecha of course, and the backstory as well. I agree that a comic would be a pretty good idea. It would be interesting to see this story take shape. Quote
Big Cam Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Wow, I'm happy I came into this thread. The title sounded interesting but this is awesome. The robot is great but the landscape and figs really seal the deal for me. I love your almost apocalyptic feel to the soldiers. Really cool scene. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I see you've found a great way to show your Delta 3.0 in action, and what an impressive vig this is! The shattered wall, with the robot's outline, is truly very impressive. Excellent work Commander Tac! Quote
Batbrick Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 One of the best thing's I've seen in quite a while, and that includes that youtube video of the wife-stealing-goat. I adore how you've done the ammunition belt just hanging off to the side, and the robot conveys a real sense of menace without being a Terminator knock-off which is awesome. And the rocket effect is simple but brilliant, a great little touch like the smashed wall which really sells the whole thing. But they had to launch a nuke to stop it? That's a bit poor Batbrick Away! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 AWESOME MOC 'Commander Tac' - man the prototype still has plenty of ammo ! Great scene constuction of the wall caved in and man that war machine......so COOL ! Excellent job 'Commander Tac' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
SilentMode Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 That MOC and the scenery is just insane. It must have taken a long time! Quote
dr_spock Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Great MOC. I like the chaos. Poor Charlie could have used an OFF switch. Quote
Ro13ey Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Awesome! I loved how you did the broken wall. Great job! Quote
prateek Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 The robot is awesome, but I also like the scene itself. I love the hole in the wall, and the SNOT street looks so realistic! Quote
Flare Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Wow... that is VERY impressive! I really like the mech Great work! Quote
Forresto Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 This is really great! I love the giant robot and especially all the great expressions on all the figures ahem, characters! Quote
mcfarlandman Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Great job! I love the grim future - terminator type style. Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Very cool I like the use of the indy skull mask head. Quote
Svelte Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Great work! The prototype is brilliantly realised and very original - kudos for that in a mecha-saturated world! The 'story' aspects of the bloodstain, dismembered figs and other human escapees is dynamic and exciting Very impressive. Quote
LegoDad42 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Fantastic 'killer' Robot! Love the details on the 'bot (the machine gun arm looks great) and that smashed wall outline is excellent. Brilliant action. Really comes alive...not a static moment in it. Quote
Delta 38 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Wow, that's great! Though I do think that it's a bit of a shame that some pieces aren't official, but I don't think it would be quite the same without them. Quote
PhaTic Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Wow! This MOC is absolutly amazing! Very well done Tac!The mech is nicely done. The wall is great too! Quote
Dan the Brickman Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Hehe, good sense of humor there. Quote
