Hi all,

I am new here, but most Lego freaks know me as Bricksonwheels. I am from The Netherlands.

Since some Afols i know are presenting their awesome creations here, I decided to sign up, and do the same.

My first contribution is this big scale power Functions driven Peterbilt. I love to get Technic in my Moc's but i really prefer a reallistic detailled look of the result over the tradiotional Technic look with the 'open design'.

This truck took me about 2 months to construct. It has 2 engines and about 4000 bricks, with some of them really chromed (non painted). I used many refference pictures to make it.

And the main inspiration of this moc:

Hope you like it.

This is like 5571 on steroids. The chrome parts really give it an eye-catching appearance.

@ BricksOnWheels: Wow! :sweet: Did you get your bricks at Chromebricks.com ? Are there any pieces on your MOC that are not normally available in the "Chrome Silver" color? top1.jpg

wow this is truly amazing!

i like this kind of build alot

only 1 thing: why didnt you put the new differential instead of the 20 tooth?

Thanks for the compliments all!

@Shimon: That is a good question. I tested a setup with diffs, but the problem was that I did not find the room around it for the gearing.

It is geared down to supply enough torque to pull the trailer, but the gears i would not have like to be visible or disturb the chassis design.

It is a smooth drive though.

@DLuders: I don't buy my bricks at Chromebricks. A friend of mine owns a chroming company were i can chrome a batch so now and then for a much better price, as larger quantities of chromed bricks are almost unaffordable online. Most of it i use myself, but the remains I sell off in my own webshop: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=Peterbilt

You can not chrome every existing Lego part. They have to be ABS, and unprinted, and above all they should be able to get mounted on the support racks that go into the electrified liquids during the proces. The chome is very nice, like on real metal, but due to the layer thickness building is also tougher. I would not reccomend building a complete structure with it.

Welcome to eurobricks! I see you've already got a well-deserved 'MOC-expert' tag under your name. The truck is spectacular, as are all your models.

About diffs: my power functions fire truck has one and it creates problems on uneven surfaces. If just one wheel looses traction it's had it; the truck is not going anywhere any more. A solution would be to have some sort of suspension that keeps both wheels on the axle firmly planted on the ground no matter what, but that raises a whole load of new problems. For my recovery truck I decided to leave the diff out. It seems to work fine. It corners at least as well as the fire engine does.

Cheers,

Ralph

I have been following your work, and I think this truck is your best work.

Even if chrome is not LEGO color, I think you did the best thing using these chromed pieces. They look fantastic!

Shape of the truck is perfect as well.

New shiny bricks, perfect design, lots of details and chromed bricks...cant create anything than perfection!

Chrome-tastic :D

Were a lot of rare parts used? I did just a little building with orange Technic parts and it took some work to find all I needed

Good to see you here Brickonwheels. As you know, I think your creatins are TOTALLY AWESOME, but it doesn't hurt to say it again :classic: I think this black Peterbilt is one of my favorites from you. The oragne chassis, engine and crhrome parts are sooooo cool.

This is just crazy!!! So much chrome, contrasted by orange chassis and a black body....SUPER EYE CANDY :cry_happy: Is there enough room for a motor inside the sleeper?

There are actually two motors in the chassis. The sleeper houses the battery box, and remote sensor.

This Peterbilt is on show in The Netherlands on Sunday 03-10 in Utrecht at the Mack & Heavy Transportday. There will be a big display featuring more then 10 big scale trucks from me, and other builders like Dennis Bosman.

This is just crazy!!! So much chrome, contrasted by orange chassis and a black body....SUPER EYE CANDY :cry_happy: Is there enough room for a motor inside the sleeper?

yes this truck is pure eyecandy, but why must everything be remote controlled?

Hehe.. no this is actually my only truck at the moment having PF functions. I wanted to take the challenge to build a PF driven moc keeping the realistic looks in place.

I must admit i rarely drive it, and the fact that is is so low doesn't help that much either :classic:

This is truely inspiring moc building. I am amazed at how life-like it is next to your photos of the 'truck'. Thanx for posting this.

That's a masterpiece. I'm only a bit jealous of all your nice chrome parts. :cry_sad:

Probably one of the best looking trucks out there.

Only discovered this MOC just now.. all I can say is 'wow'. Very, very impressive looking model.. probably the most beautiful LEGO truck I've ever seen, even beating out Ingmars many masterpieces IMO.

Stunning truck! Really!

the fact that is is so low doesn't help that much either :classic:

This is the only thing about it I don't like. The fenders with the red lights around the rear wheels are too close to the ground IMHO. But I can tell from the rest of your building that this is not a mistake but a matter of different tastes. :classic:
