Cecilie Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 It's been about half a year since I signed up to the forums now, and I've gradually started making more posts, even making my first MOC thread in the town forum. I'm a little shy in real life, and I guess I take some of that personality with me on the internet as well. So, after half a year, I figured it was time for a proper introduction of myself Hello, my name is Cecilie and I'm a 26 (27 in a month) years old girl/lady from Norway. I work as a computer programmer, and my main hobby outside of LEGO is aikido. I came out of my dark ages last winter, but I'm not quite sure what triggered it. I guess it was a multitude of things, but I never really stopped loving LEGO, I just didn't buy or build any after I went to study at the university at the age of 18. In my youth I never really did any MOC'ing. I could never take anything apart, so I built things after the instructions, and left them as they were. My brother and I had a lot of LEGO sets, mainly city, space and pirates, but also some castle. As I got older I got into Technic building, and my old room is still filled with Technic models standing on the shelves. Then I moved out and left it all behind. Fast forward to today, and my apartment is filling up with LEGO bricks faster than I had thought. I've bought an insane amount of sets over the past half year, but now that I've discovered the joy of MOC'ing, I take them all apart after only a short period of time (it hurts less and less to take something apart ). The only exception to this rule are classic Star Wars sets, they stay built. My MOC'ing skills are still in an early development stage, and my only notable work (that I myself am happy with) is the bridge I built for the cakes at my wedding this summer (see it on flickr) and the minifig modular display shelf that I've already posted about in the Town forum (EB Topic, flickr set). Hanging around here at EB is very inspirational, and gives me a lot of ideas of things to build, as well as insight into cool techniques. And when we move to the new (unbuilt) house that we've bought in a little over a year, I'll finally have my own LEGO room where I can unfold. I'm also really looking forward to getting all of my old sets from my mother's attic Quote
Flare Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Great! Welcome (although it feels a bit awkward as you joined EB 5 months before me ) I'm looking forward to seeing some of your creations Quote
WhiteFang Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Welcome Cecilie! It's never too late to start an introduction. You have been a great builder by sharing your town vignettes with us, especially those lovely 16 Collectible Minifigs Series 1's vignettes. It's a great display down there. Glad to see you here and I hope you love the new usergroup. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Now that is an introduction, welcome to Eurobricks! Quote
RoryoCox Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Happy belated welcome to Eurobricks . I hope you are enjoying the site Quote
Quarryman Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Velkommen! (from one Norwegian to another ) Hope to see more MOCs from you, certainly you need to do another minifig shelf for series 2 now that they're available here in Oslo . (and usually when I see Norwegians joining I'd point them in the direction of our LUG, but considering how active you already are over there I don't think I have to ) Quote
Rick Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Welcome to Eurobricks and thanks for pointing me to your Collectible vignettes. Quote
Fugazi Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Is it really never too late to introduce oneself? Maybe I should try and write something up! Belated welcome to EB Cecilie! Quote
Cecilie Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 Glad to see you here and I hope you love the new usergroup. Nice, thanks! (except for the fact that as a geeky girl I sort of boycott pink, but I'll accept a pink star to show everyone that girls can love LEGO too ) Hope to see more MOCs from you, certainly you need to do another minifig shelf for series 2 now that they're available here in Oslo . Yes, I'm working on that Quote
Big Cam Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Well, here is an official WELCOME!! I love your minifig display and hope to see more MOC's from you. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Hi Cecillie, welcome to Eurobricks. Like what they said, it's never too late to make an introduction (I'm even worse, it took more than 1.5 year to make my intro). Anyway, it was nice hearing your story, and I liked your wedding lego MOC. It gave me an idea to incorporate lego on my upcoming wedding like what you did. Well, enjoy your stay here. Quote
Artanis I Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 ...I take them all apart after only a short period of time (it hurts less and less to take something apart )... And when we move to the new (unbuilt) house that we've bought in a little over a year, I'll finally have my own LEGO room where I can unfold. I'm a bit concerned you'll try to take your house apart soon after it's built... haha. Nice idea for the cake, and your minifig vigs are awesome! Congratulations on your recent wedding, I hope Mr Cecilie is a fan too! Quote
