I'm not sure if it was Lego, but I remember some special 2x2 bricks that could light up. They were attached to a powersource that could also be built on.

Does anybody remember these, or is it just my imagination?

I think TLG has changed completely to 2x3 bricks now with light bricks

The 2x2 light bricks were from the early train sets usually. yellow ones were 4.5 volt and the others were for the 12v sets.
