Mrlegoninja Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I would really love to see a modular bank! That would be amazing! Quote
wooootles Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 I'd rather not see a farm set again... ever. Because it's... a farm, and thus shouldn't belong in a CITY line. I doubt a hospital will come in mid-2011 (I think it will be more civilian, like the past 2 years), so I'd love to see a bank. We don't get a whole lot of banks in town sets (was there any in CITY since 2005? dont remember one). Maybe a CITY'd version of the modulars (dept. store, grocery, cafe). Quote
jonwil Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 The new ribbed columns would be PERFECT for a modular bank. Would look great in tan or light bley (or even white like Gringotts) and could include all sorts of architectural elements. The set could include an armored car, ATM, bank vault (with big round door) and managers office (with fancy desk) plus lots of the greeen 100 note tiles. (maybe some gold bars, gold coins or gemstones too) Figs included could be: Bank manager (in a suit of course) Bank teller Armored car driver Security guard plus 2 or 3 customers Quote
prateek Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 I think a modular bank is in our very close future, considering it's the only functional building left to do, besides a post office, and maybe a laundromat Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Considering that neither Post offices or laundromats are very popular, I think lego will make a bank! Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 The MOC im making right now is actually a modular bank Quote
Holodoc Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 ... So I could imagine (and wish that) we'll see: ... What do you think? I think your ideas belong to the city ideas thread here. All what you are writing about is just your thoughts and wishes. Nothing I can see in the latest replies is for sure. Just wishing well. Shouldn't we stay on target and talk about real upcoming sets instead? Thanks! Quote
paanjang16 Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Looking at the list of 2011 City sets I have some comments:- 1) Do we really need another red car? There is one in the Cargo Train Deluxe set (with no driver), one last year and now another next year. Not to mention a much larger red car in another theme and the many Ferraris previously. I think they should mix the colors up a bit or come up with a 'car pack' with cars of various colors. 2) I still believe that the space shuttle should come with booster rockets and the large fuel tank. Unless of course there is a way to attach it to the rocket set or the shuttle can take off vertically. From the looks of it, it can take off from a conventional runway, fly to space and fly back and land on a runway. Not really wrong from a 'playing' point of view, but incorrect as to the actual operation of a real space shuttle. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Ah, but that red car is a convertable smart car ! And another thing the police dog patrol vehicle is a recreation of this set...... ....of course minus the bike but an added dog. Keep on waiting ! Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 My problem is that they had a dog van in the last police station that looks just like the new one. If LEGO needs to make a new police station every 3 years at least change the sets up a little. Quote
Aanchir Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 My problem is that they had a dog van in the last police station that looks just like the new one. If LEGO needs to make a new police station every 3 years at least change the sets up a little. You mean the one in this set that lacks even a remote resemblance to the new one? Or this one which resembles the new one in color and nothing else? Neither one has a van with a remote resemblance to the new one. Oh, scratch that-- they're both made of LEGO bricks; that's one similarity. They're also both vans. With windshields. And four wheels. And "Police" logos. But then again, people said the same thing about the most recent police station looking like the new one, despite the entirely different architectural styles. And the sad thing is, I imagine child fans would spot the differences in both situations immediately. Quote

To an untrained eye they might look the same but I think 2011 police sets is step forward, with civilans, good looking police vehicles and a station looks like a real building means it will fit in a town setup better. I said it before - Lego keeps getting better! Quote
Aanchir Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Word! Get used to a new police sets like every 3rd year. To an untrained eye they might look the same but I think 2011 police sets is step forward, with civilans, good looking police vehicles and a station looks like a real building means it will fit in a town setup better. I said it before - Lego keeps getting better! Well, the old station looked like a real building too, but with a decidedly different architectural style. This one has a much more modern, urban feel (not sure if there's any particular word that could sum up the differences in this one's style and that of the previous one). So it might fit better in certain town layouts-- others might do better with a previous police station design. I'm quite grateful LEGO kept the color scheme from the last police station, since it means that the older sets won't look "out-of-date" when used with the newer sets. Quote
Ferdik Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Alright! Yesterday at a Brickevent I was lucky to get preview of junorized pics of some new city sets. Harbour * Lighthouse - with some water and a minifig. Quite small and look marvelous! *City Harbor - Like the old one but smaller, the freight ship got shorter hull. Looking good. *Marina - a litte shop, a surfbaord and and one or two small civilan boats. Not many parts, shop look more like a backdrop. * Boat transport - Great looking truck with "new" bus front window. A yacht on the trailer. Great! Not City but could appeal to city fans. * Creator House. New white house, red roof. Quite boring architecture. The garden got a little slope (brickbuilt) and the house got stairs to the front door. Also including a small garage with a car. Minifig included. Kingdom. A medieval windmill! New paint on animals. Dots on grey horse and on white pigs. Great Looking! Quote

Rick Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Alright! Yesterday at a Brickevent I was lucky to get preview of junorized pics of some new city sets. Now that sounds good. What do you mean by <insert that tiresome argument> pictures? Will the medieval windmill be an S@H exclusive like the MMV? Quote

Zorbas Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Great news Ferdik, thanks! I'm really happy to read that there are going to be a bunch of maritime oriented sets. Quote
Milargo Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Thanks for this good news! Can't wait to see pictures for the "Big Police Station", "dog patrol vehicle" and (of course) the prisoner transport vehicle. Can't wait for classic-town-style space theme , harbor theme sets, anymore good news and I'll be broke! Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Now that we are getting closer to 2011, I am getting really excited about these sets I've all ready started making room for the police station. Quote

peterab Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Thank you for the news. A new harbor theme is most welcome. . Do we have any Czech member who could translate that even roughly into english? The list is tantalizingly readable but doesn't give any new info without further translation. It does appear to have second half of the year info though. Quote
