Not to offend anyone who likes the new truck, but I am afraid it is the colours that makes the whole line a no go for me. I was a big fan of Town police, but the City police looks like an eyesore. Also the design with those clunky doors is a bit too strange. Crossing my fingers that the rumoured armored transport is not in the same white-blue..

And it's nothing to get excited about either way, cause it's a Duplo fig, a 2 x 3 Duplo brick (if I recall correctly and yes, those are new), and a bunny.

But I love the bunny... :cry_sad:

lol, but I get what you mean. Wonder whether LEGO will ever be kind enough to make a minifig-scale rabbit. Rabbits are one of those types of creatures you can't really brick-build at minifig scale and still have them recognizable.

The new police truck is hot time. Wonder if it looks as good when it's closed as it does when it's open.

Funny thing I just thought about Lego Rabbit last night..

they could easilly remold the rat ( A round tail instead of long one, add long ears cut a face a little)

I thought about which might be included in the summer sets. Here are my thoughts:

Port:

-green cargo ship with to open bridge and engine room (like in the previous cargo harbor set of 2007)

-truck with two small containers

-container crane (like in the previous cargo harbor set of 2007)

-pier

-captain, truck driver, cargo crane driver, harbor worker

Marina:

-small motorboat, bigger motorboat, surfboard with sail

-small (16/12/10x6) cafe (supposably regrettably only one floor big)

-pier with two small extra piers

-two male minifigs, two female minifigs, waiter

Fishing Boat:

-fishing boat with moveable fishing net

-two fishers

Truck With Motorboat:

-6 wide truck in the size of the 3366 Space Port Truck

-trailer

-motorboat

-male minifigure

This is only what I think (my wishes would partly be different).

What do you think?

Can you imagine that the Marina will include a small sailing-boat and/or a water-plane with propeller on its front?

If there is a shop included in the marina (which I highly doubt) and not a cafe, what do you think will be sold there?

Thank you very much for these links to those pics, Brickviller! :classic:

The small, red cabriolet looks lovely and the police motorbike looks great, too!

Although the exterior of the Police Truck looks great, there are two aspects which disturb me immensly:

1. The interior isn't that good. I mean: The interior details are great, but the interior is much too empty (there are 6x5 studs empty left and right to the conrol table)! :hmpf_bad:

2. Without any need, the middle part of the trailer will be 8 studs wide!

I was at the same event! Worth to add is that the new modular house comes first in july, there will be an minifig series 5 and the exclusive-winter theme is going to get a new house. There will be an new girl theme in minifig scale and those sets is only going to be sold in Uk and us if i remember right.

Thank you very much for this information, freeedrik! :classic:

To me it sounds very strange and not comprehensible that TLG would let out Germany - the country next to the US where the most Lego is sold - out for this new girls' theme. :sceptic:

Since we'll get a marina next summer, I doubt that this new girls' theme will be Paradisa-like. I'd more go for a world of fairies (and all that stuff that belongs to it) or at least fairy stories - let's say: in principle the same like Belville was, but now with System scaled minifigs.

Although that was highly likely, it's great to hear that the Winter theme will get a new house in 2011, too!

I'd go either for a winter candy shop or (even more supposably) for a winter family house.

What do you think?

A little MOCing will solve the problem.

I like the sound of a winter house. :cry_happy:

:oh: Minifig girl theme? Harbour subtheme? Adventurers return? I dare anyone to claim that TLG don't listen to AFOL wishes! :cry_happy:

I'm glad that we just had a baby girl, I'm sure she would want me to buy her girl Lego for when she's older!:wink:

Quick question for some of you more seasoned City collectors... I remember many of my years as a LSW collector where the sets of a new year would actually drop right around Christmas, before the actual calendar changed to that new year. I guess my question is, what's the likelihood that these new 2011 City sets show up in stores before January, and any guess as to which sets they might be?

The Police sets will be released first. If I recall correctly they are scheduled for release in January. But, there is the chance that some markets may get them in stores before Christmas.

I believe the smaller police sets will show up, just like the small airport sets showed up before the bigger ones. :classic:

Hey, a question for those living in the U.S. of A, didn't some retailers score the city fire range for Black Friday last year.....if that was the case, then some might pick the new police station early - COOL maybe some early reviews eh ?

Probably. People in Europe and Asia get the sets before we in the US do, though. :cry_sad:

Spare a thought for us Aussies.

Given normal practice for .au retailers and given the large amount of current Police sets still around, I would be surprised if we see these new police sets this side of Easter.

You mean like with the fire stuff in the second half of this year, maybe we'll just have to wait for the Lego Club here in Oz to send the first half 2011 catalogue out to it's members i.e. like my son.

Keep on wishing ! :sweet:

Well, LDD 4.0 is out, and with it are some new and unreleased parts. Most notable for City is the new dog mold from the Police sets, as well as the crowbar.

I like the dog a lot more than I expected. Despite being less angular, he still has enough flat and carefully-sculpted portions to look LEGO. And as my brother pointed out (quite to my surprise), the way his stud is positioned allows him to wear a minifigure vest (part 3840). I wonder if LEGO plans to take advantage of that.

Of course, my brother also points out that since we're getting a new dog anyway, he'd have preferred one that looks like a distinctly different breed than the old one-- perhaps a dog with longer ears like a dalmatian. Perhaps when the next fire wave comes around...

Also worthy of note is that there are no molded eyes on the new dog. Perhaps he'll be printed, as seems to be becoming the norm with LEGO animals (considering Mrs. Norris from the Hogwarts set in the Harry Potter theme, the camels in the Prince of Persia theme, and the new-style sharks from the Pirates theme). I wouldn't mind that at all as long as LEGO could continue to be consistent about it.

Would it really have killed them to do him in a different color?? Gray dog = Police Dog = German Shepherd = Happy Mr. Timms :sceptic:

For as long as I can remember, the "beginning of the year" wave of sets sporadically begin to hit retail around Thanksgiving (at least, here in the U.S.). I would expect this year to follow that same pattern. TLC isn't going to miss out on the holiday shopping season. Releasing new sets in January makes no sense.

Posted

Was it last year they started showing up right after Halloween?

Since The LEGO Brand Stores have opened up the "new year" sets seem to come out early. I remember buying the fire sets for World City right before Thanksgiving in 2005 I think.

Not all the sets are released early, but at least some City sets should be showing up within the next 6 weeks.

Oooh, this new dog mold looks great (especially with the print), new backpack, crowbar... too bad there's cops in the small set.

Ditto! But if they had replaced one of the regular cops in the small set with a detective in new light blue shirt and tie, it would have made a really neat part pack!

Why are there two cops in that small set, I have enough of them already and that quad isn't great either.

But what a great new pieces, I really like that new printed dog and of course that crowbar and backpack.:sweet:
