Aanchir Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 On the subject of a church, the nearest I've really noticed Lego breaking it's 'no religion' rule is that tower bridge had a cross on top. Personally, I think any winter sets are more likely to be like the previous ones - shops. Maybe even an inn. It's a bit of a pity. I'm not the sort of guy who thinks a church set is an absolute necessity (kids might be happy to role-play plenty of town-based scenarios, but "going to church" probably doesn't have the most appeal for them). But I'd love to see LEGO tackle the ornate architecture of some sort of cathedral someday. Perhaps, if not in a traditional theme, there might be a cathedral in the Architecture theme one day. That way the religious nature would be less of a factor in its appeal. Quote
muscleman Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Only a questions: that are the ONLY set LEGO will release for City 2011 ? Quote
Night City Dream Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Sure, not. I still think the last Police HQ is better in all respects. The best set in the new line-up is the Prisoner Transport, in my opinion. Quote

Ondra Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Its not exactly city but according to Dragonator the new modular building will be a pet shop. Really? If this is true, it will be very popular with children.I can imagine how much playability is hiding in pets shop .Parrot, dog, cat, frog, spider, mouse, fish any kind of produced lego animals that we can imagine . Oky Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Greetings, City folk! I don't know if this is news or not, but I thought I should point it out. I got a copy of 4900 Fire Helicopter from Target yesterday and when I opened it at home, I was surprised to find that it includes a new kind of small 3-blade propeller instead of the old kind as shown on the box bag art and instructions. Here is the bricklink-link. It's more angular than the old kind and is made out of a very smooth kind of ABS, the same kind that bricks and plates are made of. Its shape is very similar to the larger 9 diameter propeller that is included in the same set. What's even better is that it comes with an extra, so you get two brand new propellers in a $4 set! According to bricklink, it comes in 30012 Mini Airplane as well. I personally like it better than the old kind which may have worked well for Fabuland, but not so much for City. Here is a comparison pic: I hope this was informative. Quote
Zarkan Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Egads, the Police station looks horrible from the back. The interior is so empty and boring compared to the last two City stations, and the way the back is designed seems more catered around playability than asthetics. Quite a shame, really - from the first few shots, this looks like it would be the best lego police station yet, but now its sunk way down on my personal list. Quote

exon_from_youtube Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Wil be a really great add-on to my city!!! I will be waiting to buy that one... missed out on the green grocer already and don't plan on missing out on this one. Good thing the emporium is still for sale but only at lego its self now... Probably going to buy 2 of the emporium and make it 6 floors Quote

On the one hand the exterior of the police station looks amazing. And so do the vehicles and imo even the interior of the prison cells and of the third floor of the main building. But the interior of the first and second floor of the main building is much too empty: no room for questioning and no control room (Ok, there is that big screen. But there are no control panels in addition to it. Plus the chair is far too away from the writing table. And the chair looks more like a comfortable armcair - so completely out of place in a police station.). I'm still waiting for pics or at least information about 3661 and 3648. It's even not a complete month until their supposable release. So when will pics or info finally apear?! Klaus-Dieter Edited December 6, 2010 by Klaus-Dieter Quote

I was in TRU earlier this week, and they had both the '09 and the '11 police stations for sale, sitting right next to each other on the shelf. The price / piece count disparity was quite jarring. '09 version: $100 for 953 pieces '11 version: $110 for 783 pieces Also, I find it strange that both versions are available at the same time. I've never seen TLC step on their own toes like this before. Quote

These days I treat her to a big box set and we sit and build one instruction book each. I really should buy a Police Station one of these days. I have a police force worth of figures and enough cars for a decent sized station, but never a building. What do you think guys? Get this one or wait until the next one? Quote

lightningtiger Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I feel we need to have the new police station reviewed/compared with the older one so we can see any real improvements or step backwards Lego has made. That should go the same for the police truck and prisoner transport too. Keep on waiting for 2011 ! Quote

I would but the only thing the stores have right now is the 2010 (2008) model and the 2011 is and was a hard item to find in my area... Trust me I am getting both to make a nice 1800 piece build... I do a lot of middle town area buildings so a police building with no back kind of is a set back for me....but first thing first, I need to buy windows for my transportation shop (Garage 7642-1) Look at all them holes..... Jargo Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I'm sure all these police stations with the prison cells outdoors and open to the elements breaches the Geneva convention or something like that. Criminals are very naughty boys but I'm not sure they deserve to freeze to death in custody. Perhaps next time Lego could relocate the cells indoors and make the outdoor space big enough for the helicoptor to land. Or at least include a ladder so the pilot can get off the roof. Quote
