Brickviller Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I hope we get some better pics but a new harbour can be confirmed by now. And the hull is a small one, which I really like. Shall this one carry grain or just like the previous one containers... questions..questions. At least this changes my mind on buying all the space sets.. Quote
paanjang16 Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 To me TLG just killed 2 birds with 1 ship; a cargo ship to please those wanting a harbor set and the cargo ship carrying grain in farm liveries to please those wanting a continuation of farm. Remember the image of the red cargo ship I mentioned about in the police boat commercial? I do not think the design of the superstructure of the cargo ship will run very far from one shown in the commercial. I suspect that the team making the commercial got some info about the harbor set, just that the key piece which is the hull is not available in green, only red. Quote
L@go Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I like the chunky tyres. I'll admit they could stand to be a shade slimmer but these days a lot of cars have quite chunky tyres. That's true, but in most countries around the world it's illegal to have tyres that are wider than the car itself. The tyres could well be chunky, but they shouldn't stick out like that. Quote
Rick Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I suspect that the team making the commercial got some info about the harbor set, just that the key piece which is the hull is not available in green, only red. Or a harbor set contains a red cargo ship and this green one is available as a stand-alone set. Quote
Aanchir Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 That's true, but in most countries around the world it's illegal to have tyres that are wider than the car itself. The tyres could well be chunky, but they shouldn't stick out like that. The way those wheel wells are designed, they shouldn't have to. With this piece they would be perfectly even with outside edge of the wheel wells. Unfortunately, the set designer seems to have designed the set to use this piece, which widens the wheels significantly. It should be an easy mod, but it's unfortunate that LEGO didn't design the parts with this in mind in the first place. Quote
prateek Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Thanks grogall. I like this set. The cars are weird, but it's a new design, so I'm happy. The curb looks a bit rushed though. No tiles or anything. Quote
Gamer Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I really like the bank set and the car chase one.So how many versions of the police car do we have? I count three, the other car in the car chase set looks like something betwen a Mustang and a viper. Gamer. Quote
Aanchir Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Thanks grogall. I like this set. The cars are weird, but it's a new design, so I'm happy. The curb looks a bit rushed though. No tiles or anything. I keep hearing this in so many theme discussions-- people expecting surfaces to be tiled! Doing that for a curb that size would drive the price up considerably. The fact that the curb seems "rushed" is the reason the price is still where it is. And yes, adding a lot of tiny pieces like 2x2 tiles would probably lower the price-per-piece, but it's not usually a good idea to base a set's value on price-per-piece anyway-- unless, of course, the quantity of pieces in your LEGO collection (or, alternatively, your Bricklink store) is your primary reason for buying sets. lightningtiger Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Or a harbor set contains a red cargo ship and this green one is available as a stand-alone set. No, I feel that the green boat is in the harbour set, but if this is a grain ship, we might get a grain loading equipement that sits on the dock eh ? Maybe the ship might be a green model of this...... What do you think ? Keep on having our fingers crossed ! Quote
GRogall Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I saw the bank and police chase at a local store so they are out already! the where placed there but had no prices!? so I don't know what they will cost. Quote

pacc Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 The Bank set is $64.99 Canadian, so that relates to $49.99 US. I hope they take into account the €/$ shift in value since last years prices, otherwize it will be priced as city corner... Then I think I can wait until a sale, which happens a lot to the store exclusive sets eventually. Quote
Zorbas Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 This (preliminary, so do not deeplink) picture from a retailer's catalog was posted in the 2011 Kingdoms thread. The left of the page clearly shows a green prefab ship hull with a farm logo on it. Thanks for the teaser Rick! You've just made me feel very excited and happy! Or a harbor set contains a red cargo ship and this green one is available as a stand-alone set. Good thinking. I suppose that it can go like that since the new 2010 Airport was accompanied with the standalone blue passenger plane. No, I feel that the green boat is in the harbour set, but if this is a grain ship, we might get a grain loading equipement that sits on the dock eh ? Great combination lightningtiger! Oh, my, this is going to be a great year! Quote

r4-g9 Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 The lego city comic builder is up and running (Here) I haven't tried it yet but it does look quite interesting. it is a fun lego game, and after a bit of working at it i was able to make a good 1 page comic, and it took me about 20-30 minutes. cimddwc Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) I hope they take into account the €/$ shift in value since last years prices, otherwize it will be priced as city corner... Seems they don't. :(. I found the bank today at a shop in southern Germany for 49.99 € - thay said they had received it just yesterday. (And they had "probably 10 Jan" for the collectible minifigs 3, BTW.) I think they also had other new police sets, but I didn't look closer at them. The bank box says "special edition" along its right edge, whatever that exactly means - there was no obvious explanation next to it. PS. Hello everyone. :) Edited December 24, 2010 by cimddwc Quote

Alywin Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) The recent well-known blow-out of 2011 second half retail catalogue in Flickr, on top of other very interesting news in other themes, has shown that there will be a hillside house (5771) and lighthouse island (5770). Though they are both under the Creator theme, it seems at least 5771 hillside house would have a minifigure and a small car, being of City theme scale. The picture for 5770 lighthouse is not clear enough to tell surely what it is up to, but it is smaller than 5771. Picture here: New Creator Buildings Edited December 24, 2010 by Alywin Quote
