Guess I'm a little late to the scene! So, here are my thoughts:

The Harbour looks fantastic. The marine also looks pretty good.

The Speed and Fishing boats are always good to add to a city.

Also, I think the creator house is great! :classic:

How do you mean? Flat as in thin?

Yes, 2 dimensional, not enough depth, however you want to put it. IMO, it's not even a marina. We don't even get a yacht parking.

I hope there's some improvements to the marina and harbour. They seem a little bit messy. the bridge in the marina is silly. the whole quayside of the harbour is like a step back to vintage town. I acknowledge the history and nostalgia for town but it doesn't gel well with the modern design ethos of lego sets.

I was hoping the fishing boat would be more of a small trawler rather than a pleasure boat. something for a full crew and a net full of fish.

the speedboat looks a bit stunted. with a prow that blunt it wouldn't be going anywhere fast. it's more like a small dinghy launch.

I know these are prelim pics but god I hope there's vast improvement in the final sets.

Well, they're certainly not classic town, but they're definitely welcome in my town. It's about time we got a new marina and another harbour is always a good thing. I agree with prateek, the marina is definitely a big facade, but its got lots of lovely details.

After looking at the images of the new harbor sets, these are my thoughts:-

Fishing boat: The 2011 version of 4011 cabin cruiser, complete with classic shark, captain, angler with fishing rod and line, white color and the boat floats.

Speedboat: Hard to see how it looks like from the image, will have to get a clearer picture to fully decide.

Marina: Looks more like a coast guard point than a marina. The blue inflatable boat spoils the scene IMHO. I was expecting a few speedboats or sailing ship to come with a marina like 6543 Sail and Fly marina.

Harbor: Now this is interesting; we get a grain cargo ship complete with port facilities to handle cargo like grain. The scooper like crane is ideally suited to scoop grain from the ship. The building is pure classic town right down to the color scheme. I am wondering if the pier is using those raised platforms like harbor sets of 1991s? Interesting take on a harbor set, was expecting another container terminal like the one from 2007.

Well, I think the sets are quite good, and that even from the Prelimary images. I hope they make some improvments on the sets,

The yacht is really cool, and it seems that it will go nice with the marina

The marina is okay, not really what I was hoping for, but I hope they make it a little bit better

The harbour is for me the must have, It looks really classic and still modern, and that's what I like about Lego these days.

But that speedsboat looks ridicule :hmpf_bad:

Just a thought but aren't we supposed to get 2 waves of City every half year?

I agree with the mainstream opinions here I guess. The harbor looks pretty neat. It has a real classic town feel to it, probably due to the color scheme, yet it still feels contemporary. I like that's it no container ship this time, so it will be a nice addition to the previous City harbor. Too bad the dock isn't raised, it look like three or four of these base plates.

The fishing boat looks nice. The speed boat doesn't look like anything special, but the picture isn't really clear. However, like many of you, I was expecting a lot more from the marina. But perhaps that's mainly because of the iconic status of the Sail N' Fly Marina among AFOLs.

The Creator light house should be going well with these sets.

When the first images of the police and space-themed City sets leaked out, I thought, well, this could be a nice year for me to save some money. But Lego had other plans... by introducing minifigs to the Creator sets, they've effectively turned them into more advanced City sets - and for me, both the hillside house and the lighthouse are must-haves.

The harbour looks good, and so does the fishing boat, but I agree that the marina could have been better. Still, I'm not complaining. I'm going to have to start eating cheaper food...

Hmm,

The hillside house seems to be an expensive way to get the red roof and white basic bricks, minifig or not.

The harbour is too big, but the marina and beacon are a nice combination. The bank is the best set this year.

I'd rather build on the old parts of town this year with the medieval windmill and perhaps some Pirates of the Carribean set.

I just got the MMW so I guess I'll have long looks at the harry potter town all year long aswell.

The cars 'classic mater' should be in pretty small scale -

then it seems to reveal a new more streamlined mudguard for small scale cars,

since it has a hollow 90 degree stud at the end it will be great for SNOT work and 5-wide constructions.

Other than that the goats and chickens are what farm fans dream of, and most farms has some historic buildings anyway.

Haven't seen anyone mention this yet: Found set #9348 Lego Community Minifigure Set for sale at lego.com today. Contains 256 pieces and 22 minifigs. It's only available in Europe for now, and you can find it under the Minifigures theme in the Lego shop. Price GBP 39.99, NOK 407.50, EUR 47.50. This is probably DACTA stuff, but I'm guessing it will be of interest for a lot of City fans as well.

Also worth mentioning is the Fairytale and Historic Minifigures set - same price, and some quite nice figures there, too

Nice! I'm really interested in that woman typing, yes, a lego computer. Hopefully this will come to the US and I'll be able to pick this up. :classic:

My aching wallet... 10 pounds less and it would be ordered right now.

Actually, it seems to be available via this site - that's where the deeplinked picture came from. They seem to be specializing in teaching material, so it's possible that they don't sell to the private market.

Edit: There's a few nice parts in here: The cap in orange and lime, the bicycle in green, the new dog... and a couple of mean-looking snowmen.

Well, 2 Santa's.....it must be Christmas eh ?

First, the speed boat....the front looks like a new molded piece which might mean different colours...i.e. white or blue for future police sets.

I like it, on shopping list.

Next, fishing boat....AWESOME....like to see actually all of them in finer detail.

The marina....is a ode to old school and I like it as well (might be able to scratch up one of these on LDD and then my parts collection).

The harbour too, I like alot (scratch build....yep....when I get bigger images), the ship looks like a fusion of the past few boats with the new haul and the 2007 cargo ship. Plus the crane, etc., is an ode to a classic town public works set.

Now to buy these when released without the wife noticing (hence some scratch-built stuff to fool her  )

Keep on paddling your boat !

Wow, what a surprise! The new Community Workers set is very nice. There's much more variety in it now. All it's missing is some motorcycles. I've noticed there are a lot of females, so this is a must have for anyone wanting equality in their town! To add, the construction hats are yellow, from the TS3 Dump Truck

Oh, and another thing, which you fellow Europeans will probably have discovered if you've taken a look at the Community Minifigures Set, is that the other new sets are now available also in Europe, including the recently discovered limited edition sets.

Which means this turned into quite an expensive afternoon for me - I ordered:

#3648 Police Chase (NOK 299.50, GBP 18.99, EUR 24.99)

#3661 Bank & Money Transfer (NOK 499, GBP 41.99, EUR 49.99)

#5766 Log Cabin (NOK 299.50, GBP 25.99, EUR 29.99)

... and #10217 Diagon Alley (NOK 1599, GBP 132.99, EUR 149.99), which seems to have been released a few days early.

This year, Christmas comes a few days into the new year...

After reading through the various comments, I decided to check out S@H for the new stuff coming through. I really like the Bank set, but not for $AUD90!! Are Lego trying to put one over us in Oz? I know there's 405 pieces, but still, come on! I won't be getting it until its on sale.

I am loving the harbor theme! They all look great! There is also one more set - 4643 - not pictured. It's a powerboat transporter.

Another truck ?

Might be another dam store exclusive again, also just noticed the city style minifig collection......I'll get that for my son - all look very nice indeed....I wonder if Lego has any more surprises in 2011 left ?

Keep on counting down to 2011 !

It's nice to see harbour returning, Looks even better than the last one.

Hmmm, I'm not so sure about that. Maritime/Nautica subtheme is my all time favorite from the City/Town theme and I really have mixed feelings about the (preliminary picture of the) new harbour. The previous 2007 harbour set was one of the best city sets released during the last years in my opinion and the first comparison I make is definitely in favour of the 2007 set.

There are some things that just don't work for me. The baseplates being used as a dock (huge con) and the number of minifigs (there is just one minifig on the ship as a crew :sadnew: ) are the most important elements I don't like.

I don't want to jump into any early conclusions, I'll have to wait and see the official pictures to have a more solid opinion.
