Derek Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 (edited) I know! The small speed boat uses these two pieces for the hull- Brilliant usage of these pieces. -Derek Edited December 29, 2010 by Derek Quote
prateek Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I know! The small speed boat uses these two pieces for the hull I think that was kinda obvious, but I do agree it looks really nice. Quote
Rick Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Is it this one or perhaps this one? I don't think it's either of those. There seems to be a 1 stud deck on top of the hull and the two you link either have no raised deck or a two stud raised deck. So it's likely a new mold, although it appears to be roughly the same size (over 20 studs long). By the way: Why is there a blue hull depicted in the bottom left corner of the box? Quote
metalgearsolid Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Hi, found prelim pics of the City Brickmaster. Looks to be a Police themed set with a policeman minifig, criminal minifig, blue car and helicopter from the prelim jacket. Have a look from my blog HERE (not deeplinked cos marked as prelim) Quote

Have a look from my blog HERE (not deeplinked cos marked as prelim) Thanks for the pics of the City Brickmaster book! I like the car model included best, because it use these two pieces for the wheels and tyres instead of these two, this makes it look far more realistic than having the wheel and tyre sticking out at the side. I also like the black and blue colour scheme of the car, with the car being mainly black but having this piece in blue. ~buddy~ Edited December 29, 2010 by buddy Quote

There seems to be a 1 stud deck on top of the hull and the two you link either have no raised deck or a two stud raised deck. So it's likely a new mold, although it appears to be roughly the same size (over 20 studs long). That was my initial thought too, that we 're dealing with a new mold. The thing is, it seems that there was a good number of boats/ships that were released during my dark ages (1994-2008) that I wasn't aware of and I guessed that it was already an existing part. The only combination I could make (if it's not a new mold) is having a pre-existing hull mold along with something like this: By the way: Why is there a blue hull depicted in the bottom left corner of the box? The same one is on the new Marina box too. Subliminal message in order to force us buy as much Police Boats as we can? what i hate is the marina..and why is that a marina anyways? it just looks like a confused set with bricks thrown all over the place with no real structure. Couldn't agree more. The comparison with the 1994 Sail N' Fly Marina is inevitable. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Well, did anyone spy the minifigs in the marina set....the same ones spotted in that cluster of minifigs posted last week.....so the girl holding the cup is the one downstairs and don't forget the guy with the sweatshirt up top. Plus I notice the brickmaster for city......I won't beleive they are final till the time comes....still looks like they are in early stages of finalising ! Keep on wishing for 2011 ! Quote
Joebot Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 The comparison with the 1994 Sail N' Fly Marina is inevitable. Inevitable and unfortunate, because the new marina falls way short of that much-beloved set. The Sail 'n' Fly Marina is one of the few classic sets from my childhood that is still built, and relatively unmodified, in my town. Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Looking at bigger pics, I think the shop on the marina is nice, but the rest is terrible. Modification time! Quote
Zorbas Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 The Marina though ... it looks like we're back to the old "four posts and a window = a building" style of construction that I thought TLC had moved beyond. And that bridge is terrible. Inevitable and unfortunate, because the new marina falls way short of that much-beloved set. I wanted to comment when I first saw your initial post but I forgot it. This is exactly how I feel too. Call me crazy but everytime I look at the new Marina, this image pops into my mind: Quote
vader11 Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 No deeplinks with confidential stamp! Here are undeeplinked pictures Speeder Boat Fishing Boat Marina Harbour Anyone noticed there's a pic of a bigger boat at the bottom left corner of the marina box, which is not shown in the set? Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Anyone noticed there's a pic of a bigger boat at the bottom left corner of the marina box, which is not shown in the set? I am guessing thats just the police boat. Quote
sens1992 Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 The marina is rather disappointing . The harbor is okay but it is kind of weird that the pier seems to be at ground level... Quote

vader11 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) I am guessing thats just the police boat. Oh yes I think that's the police boat but why is it there? Also, the police boat also appeared on the fishing boat box... Edited December 30, 2010 by vader11 Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Oh yes I think that's the police boat but why is it there? Also, the police boat also appeared on the fishing boat box... Because that's not the final design for the box art. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I just noticed something also different in the marina set, a 4x3 window frame in dark bluey grey, in all the sets I have (which is a lot ) I don't have any of these. Though I like this set, I feel a boat repair shop like in this 1994 classic...... would have been a great addition. (I know.....I'll MOC one.....simple ) Brick On Everyone ! Quote
prateek Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Oh man, that is amazing. This makes the new one look like $#!+#@%@$%! The new one doesn't even have a proper dock. Quote

Yep, like I said I like the new one, but there is stuff of the 1994 set that should have been included......I'm working a quick little add-on design right now ! Brick On ! Quote
lifeinplastic Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I was looking forward to getting a new marina, hoping it would be similar to the 6543 'Sail-n-Fly Marina' posted above or that we'd see something Paradisa-esque but without all the pink bricks. Sadly though I really dislike the 2011 marina and seems a bit of a flashback to the previous days where the 'Lego Island Xtreme Stunts' sets were Lego's best offering to the beach theme, which effectively started my dark ages of not buying so much Lego. It looks like I will be saving my money again this year. This marina looks awful and I can't believe it was approved for release, assuming these pics are final. The bridge stucture looks poorly designed and the set doesn't even seem to have any novel parts with a lack of boats. As somebody above mentioned, the structures seem to be "a few windows and a roof = a building". I hope that this along with last year's equally disappointing 'Family Home' set are not signifying another end to what has in recent years been a new golden era of Lego City. Sorry for such negative feedback but as a paying customer I can only speak as I find and as I believe Lego uses fan sites like Eurobricks to gather information about what their customers think, I feel letting them know how we feel can only be beneficial to them in the long term. I am a huge fan of Lego's own themed sets (non-licensed themes) and hope that a gender neutral Paradisa will appear in the not too distant future. A proper beach theme could combine sets similar to the old beach cafe, villa and playgrounds with other aspects of the City theme, such as the old Divers line and a tropical island airport (think palm trees) to create a new Summer Holiday subtheme. The old 'leisure' sets were my favourite as a kid and I feel deserve a regular showing as much as the usual police/fire. Quote

A successor to Paradisa is being introduced in 2011, but it will not be gender-neutral. It will have pink. Quote

Two things, I agree with 'prateek'....how do you know this ? Secondly, PINK.....that's sexist.....why does Lego think girls only like PINK ? True, they do like that colour.....sometimes.....light blue, purple and even orange....just look at their fashions....girls even like black ! This is 2010/2011, not the 1970's blue for boys and pink for girls ! Anyway, I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote

Jargo Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Hear hear! Lego needs More empowering inspirational female characters. Scientists and power dressed business women. Female Police chief and so on. Reading these forums it's clear that many people crave more females In Lego sets other than licensed themes and many with children would prefer less gender stereotyping. While it's realistic to have some female characters as mothers or sales assistants the wider world has moved on from the 1970's and as an iconic product Lego should too. I am slightly biased in that I despise pastel colours. Quote
