Thanks for the pics prateek! I love all the new sets except the marina, it looks like something is missing :/

I know what is missing! A large pleasure boat like a yaught and mabye a very small boat too. Then the marina would be better, but would still need improving. I'm a conformist!!

It was lined up for 2011 but hasn't it been put on hold for a year?

Sounds promising but I hope the design team do a better job than the marina set and that any Paradisa comeback is as good as the original sets were. Disappointed they will still be pink though. I think this does alienate a huge part of the Lego market though so hope this will be reconsidered. People will not buy pink sets for boys, hence why I never got any Paradisa sets :-(

Hopefully it will recapture the spirit of the original line and include a remake of the best Lego airport - http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=10159-1 but perhaps with a coach similar to the Public transport one to transfer holidaymakers to their resort rather than having a second plane.

Happy New Year to all members for 2011!

This new theme with sets with pink in them sounds promising, especially if they include new pieces or pieces in different colours that we haven't seen them in before (specifically pink).

I disagree as I think for most people the pink will put people off buying the set rather than vice versa. If the sets do have to be pink, i'd rather the pink bricks were interchangeable so that alternative colours can be used. Although this was possible for most of the original Paradisa line, there were those stairs on the villa and lighthouse which weren't available in any decent colour to replace them (white would have been best).

New pieces and pieces in different colours are usually always good though buddy! So let's have those stairs in white Lego pleeeeease!

For the past 3 years, the number of City sets released has been quite consistent.

2008 (29 sets)

2009 (29 sets)

2010 (28 sets)

2011 (21 sets)

Source: Brickset

Of the 28 City sets released in 2010, 4 were polybags/promotionals. There were also 4 polybags in 2009.

As of today there are 21 known City sets for 2011. Leaving room for 4 (?) polybags in 2011, there doesn't seem to be room for a new sub-theme unless the pattern changes.

I would love to have a 'paradisa' type set of course, as would many other AFFOLs I believe, but it seems to be unlikely this year. Perhaps next year?

This is 2010/2011, not the 1970's blue for boys and pink for girls ! :hmpf_bad:

A little OT, but... did you know that in the late 19th century, it was the other way around? Pink was for boys and blue was for girls?

I'm glad I read ahead this time, because I was just going to post the same thing!

Also, I thought the 'Paradisa' line was pretty cool. It captured that whole 'caribbean paradise' atmosphere quite perfectly.

Only problem (IMO) was that the baseplates didn't really 'pair up' well with other baseplates, due to the colours.

I had purchased some of those sets for others as gifts but never picked up any for myself at the time, thinking they'd be around for a while. Big mistake.

Aaronprtck (a member here) just found this pic of a set clearly showing a yellow tuck with a trailer with a speedboat on, courtesy of the topic he posted it in. The pic is a screenshot from a video on the Lego jobs website.

Oh no. Not about that truck and trailer, but about that marina. It looks exactly like the prelim pics, even though its finnalised. :cry_sad:

That speed boat looks good, though. I'm hoping it nots to expensive! :classic:

I love that boat and truck set. I can't wait for better pics!

Now I know what to do with the extra city corner set and bus window,

once you have that truck design it is probably only two bows and cheese piece from a moc.

Nice new truck design though,

for the cars the car chase is okayish but the Cars theme seem to have parts for cool new small cars.

This marina is wierd ,like most of you think. But in my opinion i think its wierd ,becus it isnt marina,(even through i dont know what is marina)but to me it looks more like a bridge between to grounds.Kinda disapointment,i hoped for something like the old marina. :sceptic:

Oh man, that is amazing. This makes the new one look like $#!+#@%@$%!

The new one doesn't even have a proper dock. :hmpf_bad:

i have that set :classic: up the loft with most of my stuff from that era. not had much over the last 7 or 8 years but back into it but only certain themes. can't wait for the cars stuff to come out, i would imagine an avatar series will be in the planning too??

Oh man, that Maersk Ship is expensive!

102.99 GBP/109.99 EUR is very expensive, even though it has 990 pieces. I can only imagine the Canadian price to be $150 :sceptic:

The last one was only £55 GBP from memory, much as I would love several of these to make a minifig scale model, my wages just have not gone up by 50% in the last 5 years, come on Lego, be realistic.

Well, most ~1000 piece sets run about $100-120, but I do agree it seems a tad overpriced compared to other similar piece-count sets.

I think they meant the more recent Avatar movie. :classic:

The new Maersk Container Ship is out on the Lego S@H site, except in the US and Canada - according to Brickset.

yes i did mean the blue alien type of avatar, having only just watched the last airbender movie, i had never heard of 'avatar' in that context before. as the film is reasonably recent, what prompted the lego sets years ago??

What made them happen was a cartoon series on nickelodian called avatar that I remember watching. The movie avatar [not the one with creepy blue people] is based of the cartoon series that was around until 2008 I think.
