Is that windscreen & those side windows the replacement of the now discontinued trans black?

Looks like it.

Is that a new head on the left minifig?

The plane looks... off. Proportions are weird.

I dont believe its a new head, the same head is found on the tram driver in the City Public Transport set.

As for the blacks, the instructions for the airplane show the windscreen has part # 4496442. The instructions for the public transport set show the windscreen has part # 4496442. As part numbers are color specific, this means that either TLG has not changed trans-black at all OR has changed the pigmentation of trans-black but has not changed the color number.

Without a direct answer from TLG or someone actually acquiring a 2011 set with the supposed "new trans-black" in it, there is no way to tell for sure what the story is.

I personally just think it is the picture. Look at the passengers suitcase, the brown seems a bit off. The colours I'm seeing aren't the same, including the dark blue of the plane and passengers shirt.

Thanks for the picture. Th power boat trasporter looks quite big from the box and you can see it has the sub-model sign on it. It looks quite large, I'd say £20-£30 tipping 300 pieces. Looks good. Also, we get a nice big boat for the marina. But I dont think I'll get the marina. Maybe just the speed boat and the Transporter =/

EDIT: I was just taking a look at the LEGO city shop page, and noticed...Prices are rising again....Passenger train is now £103, when it was £95 before, and loads of other set have has small, increases of around 5%-10%...I mean come on, as if they weren't overpriced in the first place, and why? Is the cost of the plastic rising or summat? :L

Ah, i see thanks, but still should have been a very small increase. It was a 2.5% increase, Example, The passenger train, £95 before, now its £103,...thats not a 2.5% increase :L If it were, it would be about £97-98...

A lot of companies have used the VAT increase as an excuse to hike prices; pretty much like they did when it was lowered.

I can't see myself getting a large set this year for this same reason.

I had a good talk with a toy store owner today, I said the prices on all Lego have risen...like overnight - no joke, that's what he said !

Back on topic, the prime mover comming with the speed boat on semi trailer does seem to look a little like a Daf or Volvo cab-over, what do you think ?

This new truck seems to be the most realistic I have seen yet, even more so than 3180 which I thought was realistic.

Pictures too blurred to tell, but I can see a few interesting bits 'n' pieces.

That is strange of the prices rising in Europe, but I just checked lego.com for the U.S., and prices are all the same as what they used to be! I am not really sure if it has to do with stocks, the euro, the dollar ... etc. Oh well... Just maybe think about saving up some extra money for 2011, because it seems in Europe the sets be as expenive as they are good! :sweet:

Mind that here in Russia we have probably the highest prices the world over... Especially considering the fact that salary rate is way lower than in Europe :(

Back to topic.

The new truck seems very much like a Renault Magnum, doesn't it?

The other day I browsed through new City sets in a department store and gazed at the new prisoner transport. Actually, they had a lot of sets of the old prisoner transport (2005) on the shelfs, right next to it, and they are almost the same! Though I know that in 6 years the usual customer of city products is not into City or even Lego anymore, I think that making this new van in black would have been an amazing set and I wouldn't sit here in bad mood and write these lines, I would play with it right now!

Having only finished the new prisoner transport yesterday afternoon, I can say similar - yeah, in the basics, but the new one is far better, longer and more practical with it's equipment storage and larger search light. I need to buy a few of these, MOC potential MAX !

Thanks for the pictures grogall.

I must say that the ANA version of the 3181 Passenger Plane looks fantastic. The colour pattern and the shape of the stripes is very beautiful and although that it's a sticker it really adds to the looks of the plane.

Btw, is that supposed to be a door frame next to the first passenger window?
