Hello everyone! This is my first post here !

My lego retailer (in france) just confirmed that the next modular building will indeed be a pet-shop and she was quite straight forward about it ! :D

About the post office, it might as well be a next "construction site/street corner/city house/bank & money transfer" in the city range as it would be easier to turn it into a full theme with cargo, truck, plane, whatever...

Beware! The dog pack is coming to town !

Cheers everyone ;)

Gee, what a way for an intro....drop a few bomb shells.....welcome to EB 'fredolego' ! :sweet:

Modular pet shop eh ?

Ah, last year they had one in Duplo ?

So, does that mean if it comes out in Duplo we might get it in the city or modular build areas ?

It's about time for a post office, gee when was the last one...well I guess that one might in 2012....hey, wouldn't it be cool if we get a postal van like the money transport and a express postal delivery truck like the TRU/Lego semi-trailers ?

Oh, yeah and the most AWESOME thing if it's true.......'Who let the dog's out ?!'....a dog pack...please have a border collie in it...please and please be TRUE !

Hi Klaus Dieter!

[...]

About the post office, It's just a guess, but I invite everyone to perform some shamanic dance every morning until we end up with a fully fledged post-office set !

Thanks for the warm welcome ;)

You're welcome, fredolego! :classic:

So the post office was only a guess of you and no confirmation of your toy seller - that's really a pity.

Well, since the post office was only a guess and no real information - I highly doubt that we'll get a post office this year, lightningtiger.

Like already mentioned some time ago, a supermarket seems to me the most supposably to be released this year (I don't know why, but I've got some feeling that it'll be) since it could well be a stand-alone set.

But a post office has imo to be included in a bigger set - at least with one more building (like 7641).

And don't forget the rumor about a ferry (if not 10155 was meant with this).

So these both would make the two til now unknown City sets for this summer (like 8403 and 8404 last year). And consequently these would be the last City sets for this year (apart from a new Winter set).

Now, K-D I did write 2012 IF we are getting a new post office.....I guess since all but the modular sets we all know about....but still could there be a surprise yet....Lego can spring one on us they have done it before in the Star Wars series of sets, so....

Though I feel we can beleive a dog pack to go with the pet store, but until we get any shots or offical word from TLC....yeah, it's all guess work !

Oh, sorry lightningtiger! I must have overread this.

Yes, in 2012 I, too could well imagine TLG releasing a post office. Perhaps in combination with another small shop (e. g. ice cream parlor or snackbar) similar to 7641. (I don't care which CC styled sets they release since I'm not interested in them.)

Apart from that I'm really, really hoping that next year TLG will offer us a huge exclusive City set (like 10184) which could e. g. include a hotel, a Lego Store and a cafe (or even a post office). Town Plan was already released in 2008 and is no longer available. So in the beginning of 2012 it'll be 4 years ago that 10184 was released - imo really time that we'll then get a set in size and quality similar to Town Plan!

Btw:

Didn't rumors about the 8403 Family House last year already appear before the NY Toy Fair?! If yes, we should know about the (smaller) exclusive summer 2011 City set soon, don't you think?

You're right 'Klaus' about the city house, we didn't see it comming really last year.

So I guess maybe something might just pop out of nowhere.....so we all must search flickr and every other photo site for any cheeky seek into the picture shot of something that makes us say, hey WTF ?

Now if we get a post office and that's a big if.....it would make more sense since in 2008 we got a postal plane and car....it's time to deliver the mail wouldn't you all say ?

oh a pet shop will be great...but we have not much animals at this moment uh? we have pig-horse-cow/bull-sharks-dolfin-dog-rat-cat-birds-owl and fish...only few ( really few) are avaible for minifig size ( I mean animals for indor) at this moment...or LEGO make some differens animals in one time or I think we can't have a good Pet shop no? Or we'll have a big modular building with cat-dogs-fish-bird/owl and rat?...and stop?

So now that we are 99.999% sure that the next modular building is a pet shop, I'd like to see the Conspiracy Theorists come up with a way that the Grand Emporium somehow gave a clue that this would happen...

Something incongruous that doesn't quite fit into the GE, but would be in a pet shop...

Hmm... there's a street light, and dogs like to urinate on street lights, and dogs are pets... but all the other buildings had steet lights, so this doesn't make any sense...

Not so easy, is it?

So who will now concede that the cherries in a trash can were just cherries in a trash can, the fire hydrant was just a coincidence and the girl with a satchel was just taking her dog for a walk

Not everyone is 99.999% sure the next modular is a pet shop.

I'm only about 34.932% sure myself...

I'm actually 100% sure. A lot of different people with a lot of different contacts in lots of different countries state unequivocally that it's a pet shop. Incorrect information usually manifests in a completely different manner.

There was a birdhouse in GE :)

While most of the Lego animal molds are a given, I'm more interested to see what brick-built pets we'll get. I always thought the Green Army Man Helmet made a good turtle shell.

And I'm going to be really irritated if we only get white cats and brown dogs...

I don't see that happening given the known 'rules' of modular buildings. The designers have previously stated that one of the main challenges when creating a new building is that they only have access to existing Lego elements - they can use new colours for existing elements, but they can't request new elements or use elements that are no longer in production. Which means, if these rules still apply, there won't be any new animal molds for the (rumoured) pet shop...

Ah, but what if next year we get a City version of a pet shop or vet clinic eh ?

Anyway, we are only guessing with no actual evidence of this modular....but if it is a pet shop could it be like Green Grocer with living areas above the shop ?

Dam it, why is Lego been so cagey about this modular, heck we have even seen shots of City, SW and even some POTC sets...so what are they afraid of ?

Anyway, keep on looking everyone !

But I can't see a mannequin shop being as interesting as a pet shop, on thinking about it I will assume that large 6x5x1 trans-clear wall elements will act as windows set at an angle or in a squared off right angle shape with a central entrance (doorway)....mostly an art deco design in the vein of their past sets.

Any more guesses ?

Keep on looking !

Reading between the lines of talks I had with Jim Foulds Lego takes leaks very seriously because they affect their ability to sell the sets to retailers at toy fairs.

I'm sure you've noticed there can be a very vocal negative reaction to preliminary pics, and sometimes the problems were simply due to misinterpretation of the crap pics. Why risk having to overcome a negative first impression? Worse still how do you combat a retailer coming on here and seeing a negative reaction, and then not ordering that set? I can fully understand TLG not wanting to take that risk if they can avoid it. I'm sure they'd rather have control over what is seen, and I'm also sure they're putting hints out for AFOLs like the trains in the backgound of the 2009 Xmas interview, and the POTC figure in the toy fair display.

I'm not sure how Grogal is getting his high res images but I have to assume TLG is not too upset since they're final images, and they don't get them taken down. He may even be getting them semi officially just to control the process. For example they may know how he's getting them (ie scanning their image folder for the store website at a guess) and don't put the pics their till they want the first pics to create some buzz.

I'm sure you've noticed how once the series 4 minfig pics leaked a few people said they'd skip series 3. That's another example of how a leak can damage their sales.

I'm all for leaks myself, but I can see why TLG might not like them, and even if it has a half percent effect on sales thats still huge amounts of money when you consider TLGs sales figures.

My wild speculative guess on the next modular;

Grand Emporium sounds like pour and includes an gelati cart, so the next modular will include a margarita bar. I'm as serious about this as I am the methodology used.

WOW! That looks really nice. I hope it costs no more than Diagon Alley.
