BrickWild Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Very cool. With those containers and that trailer.... I see potential for a Road Train moc. Or at least some double semi truck trailer. I wonder if the 5th wheel hitch raises up like in the real yard moving tractors? That would be a nice touch. Holy cow! I'd like that set! Can it be motorized? Quote
Jargo Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I'm not impressed. Never liked Maersk blue and there's nothing about the build that stands out as remarkable. I'll ignore this quite happily. Quote
metalandi Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 you can judge that from only ONE picture, that's also quite small? Quote
RubeusHagrid Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I don't really see that as a police boat. can't recall ever seeing a police boat so large. I reckon it'd look better as an ocean going fishing trawler. The blue seems better fitted to that. fishing net boom on the back, more compact cabin situated further forward. short mast, load of fish and some CM S3 fishermen. That would work. Look fantastic moored on the other side of the pier to the 7994 big blue cargo ship. throw in the hovercraft pilot from 7045 as skipper and bob's your lobster. The smaller classic town police launch sized boat would have worked better here. river launch sort of thing. Don't the coastguard normally take care of deeper waters and have bigger boats? Because I'm short on space I'm actually going to modify mine into the 'floating police station'! I do have the Daily mirror police dinghy and the 2007 Coast Guard ship. Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Only one day untill Lego Space.com is launched Quote
r4-g9 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Only one day untill Lego Space.com is launched yes now zero days Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 yes now zero days Strange. Now it seems to say 1 month and 1 day, There's either somthing wrong with that countdown clock or we have all travelled back in time. Quote
AndyC Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Strange. Now it seems to say 1 month and 1 day, There's either somthing wrong with that countdown clock or we have all travelled back in time. It does appear to have gained two videos, albeit entirely un-Lego related, that I don't think were there before. And it says 1 month and 1 day until the next LEGO space experience, so maybe that's all that was supposed to be there. Seems a bit pointless though. Quote
green dewback Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I'm also disappointed with the timer reset on legospace.com :( Can't wait to see the product pages for this subtheme. Quote
Vindicare Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) Is 3648 Police Chase not available in the US? I see on Brickset there's a price in pounds(I believe), but nothing in dollars. Anyone know if it's going to be available here or not. Edited February 1, 2011 by Legocrazy81 Quote
Zeya Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) Strange. Now it seems to say 1 month and 1 day, There's either somthing wrong with that countdown clock or we have all travelled back in time. Hmm I'm seeing 1 month, 0 days right now. Maybe they pushed it back a month? Edited February 1, 2011 by Zeya Quote
Bachus Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 new pics of the Maersk train: Source: Dutch webstore Quote
L@go Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Ah. Thanks a lot, Bachus! The more I look at this, the more I want it. Can't wait for the release! Edited February 2, 2011 by L@go Quote
Fugazi Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) new pics of the Maersk train: What can I say! Wonderful! The loco is beautifully designed, but of course the buffers aren't appropriate for a North American setting. I'm glad that the set is unpowered and trackless, it won't hurt the wallet quite as much as a fully equipped one. I'm not aware of a Power Functions 88002 set, it's probably one that hasn't been released yet? Thanks for the new pics Bachus! EDIT: Also to be found on the same site: the sticker sheet And 88002 seems to be a motor set: "LEGO 88002 Power Functions Treinmotor" Edited February 2, 2011 by Fugazi Quote
Section8 Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 OMG ! Lego really love working with Maresk company don't they eh ? They are both Danish companies with global brand recognition, so it makes sense. Kind of like how Lego and Shell were partners for so very long. And like the Maersk sets, the Shell-branded sets were usually some of the best designed sets. I am really excited about the train set, this might prompt me to modify my Maersk Sealand ship to be minifig-compatible! Quote
GRogall Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Yes, defiantly buying more then 1 of these hope its available March first! Thanks for the new Pics! Bachus Quote
roamingstop Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Yes, defiantly buying more then 1 of these hope its available March first! Thanks for the new Pics! Bachus Would that mean an official release in Copenhagen? Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 The Lego Space website has had downloads added to it. Just some space pictures with a minifigure wacked on them. Quote
marsupilami Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Really. Must. Have. A great set, with great detail. TLC did a great job with this design IMHO. Quote
Freddie Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Nice to see some bigger pictures of the set. Still looks really nice, and no less attractive then before. Nice to see a confirmation that it will support power functions as well. Quote
mathewos Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 On the LEGO City site there is a new video it say Hot Chase coming soon Quote
r4-g9 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 On the LEGO City site there is a new video it say Hot Chase coming soon yes it looks like it is a lego city movie and lego space also says 26 days and yesterday it said 1 month. Quote

And unfortunately, it's easy to see that several of the stickers are to be placed across multiple pieces. C'mon, Lego-- You're lucky this set is so epic. Quote

True, but this is something difficult to avoid in a licensed set -- the branding has to be just like the prototype, or follow specifications so that the licensor (Maersk) is satisfied with the end result. If I buy the set, I will likely omit many of the stickers, and hope that it doesn't ruin the model. On top of that, I believe that TLG still have a policy of not printing other commercial brand logos on their bricks. Some of the stickers could have been avoided by printing instead, but that option is not kosher with TLG. Quote

I have multiple pieces, including doors, with the Shell logo printed on them from sets in the 1980's, so it has been done before. I believe your top statement to be the most likely reason for so many stickers, that the licensor wanted the specific look. I'll build one with stickers, one without, and if I get a third (I'm praying this set is US$100 like Emerald Night; if it's $150 I'm only getting 2) it will depend on how I like the look of each.
