I was hoping for another Christmas theme that goes well with the toy shop and village bakery. Only the fisherman is great but I won't buy the whole calendar just for him... Especially when Series 5 of the collectable minifigs having an Inuit. I'll wait & see what the Star Wars calendar is like, might be a pass this year cos the City one just doesn't do anything for me as I already have around 20 policemen & at least half a dozen criminals! lightningtiger Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 We all must not have realised the high crime rates in our own Lego cities ! Sorry, must say now that advent is the worst ever and right off the shopping list....like a log cabin police hut...WTF ?.....what child wants to make that ? On a different set, can anyone figure out what piece is being used for the sloped roof of the cafe in the marina set ? Plus with the close ups of said set, it appears down in the surf/dive shop quite a few white 2x3 cupboards being used.....actually I like it...might buy two....one for my son and one for me to MOC to the max ! Rick Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 On a different set, can anyone figure out what piece is being used for the sloped roof of the cafe in the marina set ? I guess it's the same big green slope that's used two more times in the same set. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I guess it's the same big green slope that's used two more times in the same set. True, I'm having a close look right now at it blown up mega-size and it appears to be said slope. I'm assuming that a pair of hinges sitting on a 10x2 brick is holding it in place, but that would leave not much room in the loft for any thing. I find the little cafe table silly in a way, umbrella's sit in the middle of a table not to one side.....cutting corners again Lego eh ? Ah, well....modify again ! Quote
peterab Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 If you look closely at the harbour set, that little red truck has a sign on it's roof.....HA Transport....looks like we have a new inhouse brand after Octan ! Also by the looks of it that panel piece we first saw in city corner will be now available in red as well as that dark blue in the money truck. Brick On Everyone ! Transport has been used since the sixties well predating Octan. It was used on the original 6 wide trucks, and on the blue era 4.5V & 12V trains. It's even been used as a 'subtheme' on the lego shop website. Quote

Ah, true....but the name HA in front of Transport though ? Have a good close look, it clearly shows a H followed by an A......on checking their is a transport company in Denmark named HA Transport, but I don't believe they are related and not sure if it's a big company or not. 9Benua Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Fishing boat looks ok and priced reasonably. I'll pick that one. Probably the cheap speed boat too. I don't like the marina and the speedboat transporter. I'm torn with the harbor, I prefer the old one but I missed it. I'll pick the new harbor eventually, waiting for the sale though. I prefer to get the maersk boat first. Quote

While I understand TLG's good intention of producing more civilian-based sets, I just think this wave is a notch down compared to previous years' civilian sets (City Corner, Public Transport, Camper). Though I hope for some interesting possibilities for this City beach/water subtheme, particularly a Yatch. Quote

It's likely the designer's initials, just like in 8258 Crane Truck. Quote

Speaking of that little red truck, it's tipper tray.....would that be hinged with hinge plate or tech-pin mounting....what do you think ? Quote
Brickviller Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Fbtb Flickr photostream has shown all the new 2011 City sets. Including the Harbour and Space subtheme Link to photostream Quote

I would advise you to check eBay and BL every few days until a bargain like mine came up. £70 and the seller was including Container Stacker (by accident I think!) Matt Quote

Zorbas Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Great finds Brickviller and The Red Brick and thanks for the new pics r4-g9! The Fishing Boat is a must buy! EDIT: The 2011 City Set images topic is now updated. Quote
Brickviller Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 The new harbour (or is it harbor? ) Looks great! IMo much better than the boring red-darkgrey-blue one, this one looks so much more like the classic Lego I always watched in the old books when I was a kid . But no new pics of that train sets? Since it is officially a City set Quote
prateek Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I'm sorry, but that guy wearing a hoodie does not pass as a life guard. Why is he implied as a lifeguard in the high res picture? Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Thanks 'r4-g9' for the new pictures, okay now lets see.....boat transporter prime mover nearly all trans-smoke windows - not realistic two 2x2 airplane windows with trans-smoke inserts would have been better. The truck in the harbour set is using a bit of SNOT and not just for the fuel tanks, but the tray attachment and tipping mechanism. Now that little speed boat appears to be using a new red part for it's bow, one piece, but still looks good. Fishing boat.....I wish there was a blue one, a more realistic 'Water Rats' boat (Aussie for water police). Marina, hoodie surf guy will save you, they could have used a coast guard guy or girl - surf life savers can be male or female.....maybe a yellow or red hoodie saying life guard or something similar might have been better. I've saved all the pictures in large scale so I will scan over them again to see what else I can spy. Brick On Everyone ! Quote
EverettYA Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I'm sorry, but that guy wearing a hoodie does not pass as a life guard. Why is he implied as a lifeguard in the high res picture? I think it is because Lego was just trying to add max playability. For example, with that print he is pretty generic so he can fill any role in a kid's mind (can be a shop owner, shopper, boat driver, lifeguard, etc.) EverettYA Quote
GRogall Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I have Links to All the new HR pics! Enjoy! :classic: Quote

lightningtiger Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Thanks 'grogall' for the extra picture....the creator lighthouse....a must for any harbour ! It's big....so is the steering wheel in the little speed boat and do I spy a new male torso. Brick On Everyone ! Quote
SilentMode Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 New blue baseplate... transparent tall bricks... and more. That lighthouse set is ripe for parting out. Quote
