Yamon Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I'm more excited about the Power Boat Transporter. Dunno why but.....I also have a feeling that although it is listed as £30, it will be 1/3 off and sell at £20, like the 3321 Lego City Truck thingy. Main issue with price is that because they are Harbour sets, they have all the massive hull pieces etc...Like the 64 piece Fishing Boat. Its £13.99! :o Quote
ZO6 Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I talked with TLG about the Vestas company. They say that there will be some more Vestas sets coming in the next few years. The sets won't be here any time soon though. What are your thoughts on this? -Fuzzy I fully support more Vestas sets. Perhaps they would be kind enough to re-issue the 4999 Wind Turbine, but make it available to the public this time. Besides wind turbines though, what other Vestas based sets could be made? The company is all about wind power. Quote

Jargo Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) Other Vestas sets? How about a smaller wind turbine with installation team for the taller modular buildings. Urban green power. Vestas Blade Runner Two wind turbine boat The Vestas Sail rocket boat. http://www.eta.co.uk/British-yacht-does-0-60mph-in-5-seconds/node/11869 Vestas also do Industrial cooling towers. They look like a bunch of computer fans on their backs. Not exciting but could form part of a factory I suppose. We could do with a factory in Lego city. The Yellow Brick Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 The Lego City website has been updated with the new harbour sets and a commercial. ( Here ) Quote
Jay Sathe Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 It's very interesting that even LEGO themselves put the harbor up on such a huge dock like that. IT really makes you think why they didn't just use the (much nicer) harbor plates instead. I also really like the "Hey!" in this commercial. It's so different from any of the others, and I cracked up when I heard it. Overall, I'd say this is one of the best City commercials so far. Quote

It's so different from any of the others, and I cracked up when I heard it. Overall, I'd say this is one of the best City commercials so far. If you're talking about the plates from the 2007 harbor set, those aren't strictly "harbor plates"-- they originally derive from 6600 Highway Construction, which was a fun set in my childhood even if it was during possibly the lowest point in LEGO Town set design. I agree that those plates would have been way better than the road plates used here, although I'm frolicking in the irony of AFOLs complaining that TLG did use baseplates instead of a more reasonable alternative (then again, I can't imagine people would have been happy with those road pieces either unless there were like three square feet of blue baseplates also included without any increase in cost). On the other hand, if you're talking about these road pieces, I think they've been discontinued for a long time. Personally, that commercial is cute, but not as great as the two LEGO City mini-movies from this year. I hope another one comes out that incorporates the Harbor sets. Incidentally, the company that made these, M2FILM, is responsible for a number of other LEGO commercials and mini-movies, including the humorous LEGO Star Wars film "Bombad Bounty" Quote
Jay Sathe Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I think the main problem here is just the lack of options to raise the harbor dock up, because baseplates do not have antistuds on the bottom. If TLG had instead used a combination of 8x16 plates and tiles, which were raised up on 1 or 2 bricks, I think this set would have been recieved with much less criticism. Personally, that commercial is cute, but not as great as the two LEGO City mini-movies from this year. I hope another one comes out that incorporates the Harbor sets. Incidentally, the company that made these, M2FILM, is responsible for a number of other LEGO commercials and mini-movies, including the humorous LEGO Star Wars film "Bombad Bounty" I agree, but the commercials and the mini-movies are completely different, and for a commercial, I would say this harbor one is among the best. I would really like to see a harbor mini-movie as well. Quote
RubeusHagrid Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 The Lego City website has been updated with the new harbour sets and a commercial. ( Here ) I can't see the video, I've just got this: Quote
graafderk Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I can't see the video, I've just got this: I can't see it either. Maybe has something to do with the region you're in? Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I can't see the video, I've just got this: It should be on the main page of the city website. Quote
CDC Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 New city advent calendars are out obviously. At least in Slovenia, where i live. Went to the local store yesterday and couldn't believe they already had them in stock. I thought they were being released later this year and not in the summer lol. Quote
Cwetqo Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 The one with police station? Or is it last years? Which shop was that? Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) Seeing that "shovel" with which the crane in the new Harbor set enloads the grain pieces from the ship, I had an idea: It's not profitable for TLG to use a new mold for only one time/set. Since next year we'll see some new construction site sets, I could well imagine TLG to release as one of these sets some sort of a re-design of the Public Works Center in which they use that new "shovel" piece. At least I really would like to get some sort of public works center - if it wasn't built that <insert that tiresome argument>, if it had two garages with rolling gates, an office, a lot of accessory included and some nice vehicles. What do you think? Klaus-Dieter Edited June 23, 2011 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I agree 'Klaus' about a new construction sub-theme and two reasons, one - a balance for boys sets against the up comming girl theme sets and two, a business reason - the battle against their old foe....Mega Bloks and their own city style sets including construction vehicles.....fight the MB power ! Brick On ! Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) I even hope that TLG will offer us a new garbage truck and a new cement mixer truck (the last ones were released in 2007). Do you think that these and even some sort of smaller construction truck with jackhammer and compressor (like set 6667) might be included in this new Construction Site wave? I even wonder whether we will really get a new Hospital theme or a (Mountain or Sea) Rescue theme (legomilk only mentioned rescue vehicles - so both might be possible). Which I find a shame is that TLG didn't take the chance this year with the new wave of Harbor sets to offer us either a pleasure cruiser or a ferry as an exclusive set for us AFOL City fans. So let's hope that next year we will get some bigger exclusive and civilian oriented City set. Klaus-Dieter Edited June 23, 2011 by Klaus-Dieter Quote

Mr. Elijah Timms Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Since next year we'll see some new construction site sets... Is that confirmed? I'm already pretty heavy on construction, but never did get the garbage truck or the cement mixer. Hrmmmmmmm.... Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) 'Klaus' did you mean an updated..... Brick On Suggest On ! Yes, exactly, lightningtiger. Wouldn't a re-design of this set (of course with car doors like in the classic version) be really cool?! Is that confirmed? I'm already pretty heavy on construction, but never did get the garbage truck or the cement mixer. Hrmmmmmmm.... Yes, Mr. Elijah Timms. Construction Site as well as Rescue Vehicles were confirmed by legomilk already some weeks ago. If we got a hospital, I hope it would be much bigger, not set up on a hill and wouldn't include a helicopter (which should be sold seperately with a decent interior). A surgeon minifigure would be a must-have (if it didn't come with one of next year's Minifigure Series). Klaus-Dieter Edited June 23, 2011 by Klaus-Dieter Quote

lightningtiger Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) Thanks 'Brickviller' for updating us on the next installment of how not to rob Lego city....I guess this might be a series....oh, what would they do with a hospital sub-theme eh ? A bit some of those accessories in the cartoon were for real in Lego....i.e. suction cups. But I wonder if there are any clues in these cartoons made by Lego of anything up comming ? Edit - look carfully at the construction guy on the roof, bucket in different colour, the shovel has a brown handle and there are paint brushes too ! Fingers cross for next year ! RubeusHagrid Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 It seems there's a new mini movie with the harbour sets: http://city.lego.com.../cat276633.aspx Thanks for that. How about the (police?) surfers torso then? That could be new for next year, with a CG subtheme? as they tend to only use parts that only exist in physical form in those movies don't they? That said, they recently reintroduced the yellow CG torso to PAB, and with the last set in 2008 I can't see any other reason for them to have another manufacturing run that a reintroduction of the sets... Mr. Elijah Timms Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Just reading about the giveaways with qualifying offers at the Shop.Lego.com-- you know, 30062 Target Practicefor the US and 7235 Police Motorcyclefor the UK. Got me to wondering... Why do we have so many Police sets, especially smaller sets like 7236 and 7741, that sit on retail shelves basically year after year, and yet the motorcycle has disappeared from retail shelves and is only available online? Any chance that they might be put back out on the shelves in 2012? I've got a whole handful of highway patrol officers from Series 2 that are just begging for their own cycles over here!! Quote
