LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion

I have a feeling that the elf and samurai are going to be the new spartan, especially the elf. I mean, they're going to be picked over at stores and sell on ebay for 5x the price of a bag. Incidentally, I plan on buying a sealed box for series 3, assuming the barcodes go away.

Fisherman with new beard and blue woolly hat plus sand green fish. best figure by far.

Hula dancer looks great. Nice grass skirt which I'm assuming is cloth.

I like the new sports accessories and the ghetto blaster but apart from the two I've mentioned none of the figures excite me. the gorilla suit is really ugly. horrible.

Almost certainly it's scanned from a two-sided leaflet. I'm guessing TLG Japan didn't want people to see one side and miss the other, hence the indication of a side A and side B to the leaflet.

Here in Japan the Minfigs are released in sealed plastic "eggs" and dispensed individually from machines. Each series of Minifigs is divided into two groups and are in different machines. So if you put money in a Side A machine, you'll get one of those eight Minifigs. If you use a Side B machine, you'll get one of the other eight.

Ironically, just about every phone in Japan can scan barcodes, but because of the method I described, we can't scan them until *after* we've already bought them. In spite of that, our chances of getting what we want (despite the randomness) are better than if we had to choose from all sixteen Minifigs (1 in 8, rather than 1 in 16).

Anyway, hope that clears up the Japanese Side A and Side B thing for everybody!

Do I spy Toy Story arms and legs on the gorilla

No, the TS arms clearly reach below the waist of a minifig whereas on the gorilla they are still somewhat above it.

Still hard to tell... but if it is the Toy Story limbs, then this would be the first appearance of the legs without printing. So that's pretty cool.

To me it's pretty clear that they are normal legs and arms. Would like to see them in single colours, though!

I wish we had some of that here. That makes it much easier to target particular minifigs that you are missing. Also, not being able to touch/feel the bags means that you won't have situations where a jerk comes through and cherry-picks all of a certain type of figure. Do they charge higher prices than elsewhere to compensate? The S@H store charges $2.99 a pack here in the U.S. How much do the Japanese vending machine ones cost?

Also, not being able to touch/feel the bags means that you won't have situations where a jerk comes through and cherry-picks all of a certain type of figure. Do they charge higher prices than elsewhere to compensate? The S@H store charges $2.99 a pack here in the U.S. How much do the Japanese vending machine ones cost?

Yeah it's nice to avoid having people take all the "cool" figures. The downside is, that we have to spend *way* to much to get what we want. I think I've spent about $80 on Series 1 and I'm still missing the Wrestler. I have gotten four Series 2 Spartans though! (I'm dreading trying to amass the Elf army I **so** want!)

The prices are about the same. They're 300 Yen here which is (very) roughly equal to $3 US. I actually just found another of the machines in a convenience store (like 7-11 or Circle K). It didn't have many left in it and I didn't buy any despite the temptation, but sometimes the randomness of this country makes me smile.

What is interesting in that list of rumoured series 4 is all the accessories, a guitar and a stroller....now that last one I want to see, I'm not sure how that one will work.

A werewolf and politican, sometimes they are the same eh ?

Sadly I think we'll need to wait until next year before any of this would be confirmed though.

Well, his comment's really vague. To me it sounds like he might just be listing what he'd like to see in Series 4, not what will actually be in it. Even if he is trying to list the real Series 4 figs, I doubt he has a legitimate source.

Anyway, I haven't yet shared my own must-gets! So far they definitely consist of the baseball player, tennis player, and Space Villain. I'm sure there are others I'll want, too-- the Hula dancer has that sexy hair piece in black, something I've been hoping to see for a long time. The sumo's also nice-- great to get a shirtless torso with a less-than-ripped physique.

My brother just noticed that the pants on the Fisherman seem like they could be Flame Yellowish Orange (the color BIONICLE fans call Keetorange), as opposed to regular Bright Orange. Probably too early to tell, especially from just one image, but that'd be pretty cool. Flame Yellowish Orange is rather underused in System (check Bright Light Orange on Bricklink to see all the parts in that color).

I read that post and that list was his wish list not based on any insider knowledge. The mother with stroller and Gypsy with dog should give it away anyway since we are unlikely to see an impulse sized set in a collectable minifig, and Lego is hardly going to make reinforce such a negative stereotype as a 'Gypsy'.

Yeah, they do. I was in the central train station in Zurich, Switzerland in August, and they had a vending machine full of Magic cards, a few impulse level Lego sets (I got the farmer w/ dog and pig), and a few Series 1 figures. It was one of those vending machines with the metal spirals holding the products (usually snacks)--the kind in which you put you money in and then press the buttons to make your selection (A4, B6, G12, etc.) I only bought one (my first) and got the crash test figure (the only one I've seen--haven't found one in Japan). (Sorry about all the parenthesis! )
