That's bang out of order!!

Well done TLG, poor distribution in the boxes (if other boxes follow this pattern) of the fisherman will mean horders will feel these figs out & sell them for a huge whack on BL & eBay leaving none for others!

Any word if these are available at TRU in the U.S. right now or are they just appearing in Europe at the moment?

Not so sure about that Europe bit-- it seems to have been predominantly in the American Northwest, with speculation claiming that its proximity to China made distribution possible there. Whether or not the vendor (store called Fred Myers) released them prematurely is anyone's guess.

I'm curious for anyone who has these, if you use a kitchen scale, is there enough weight difference to tell what's in the package? With a sufficiently sensitive scale I would think so, but I've never weighed a package to see if my scale is sensitive enough.

I severely doubt it, weight difference would be minimal, I fear it won't be nearly enough to notice any difference with a kitchen scale.

I went to my local Fred Meyer and bought a box. They had at least 7 or 8 boxes sitting on the shelf in various places. Before you complain I have no intention of keeping all 60 from the box. I am only keeping one of each (plus my one screwup) and returning the rest for someone else to enjoy. I was able to guess all 16 correctly by feel alone. I got careless toward the end and opened a snowboarder after feeling the visor but no laser gun and assumed it was the race car driver. There are no barcodes and the packages are identical. EDIT: The gorilla and the mummy are the only two with printed backs.

Here is the breakdown and my thoughts. Keep in mind I only opened one of each (plus the extra snowboarder). I feel the numbers are 99% accurate as once you know what to look for it's easy to feel for the bow in the elf, or the laser gun with a visor for the cyborg etc.

Elf – 3

Very easy to feel the shield or bow. Cool figure and comes with a lot of accessories.

Fisherman - 2

Very easy to feel the long skinny fishing pole. Again cool figure with lots of accessories.

Hawaiian dancer - 1

This was one of the tougher figures to feel, possibly because there was only a single one in my box. The skirt is a pain to put on and mine did not fit exactly right.

Indian chief - 3

Very easy to feel the headdress or spear.

Sumo wrestler - 4

Moderately easy to feel the trophy. Might have to shake the pack a bit to get it to drop to the bottom.

Street punk - 5

Very easy to feel the microphone. Just don’t accidentally think it’s the maracas from the Hawaiian dancer.

Snowboarder - 2

Moderately easy to feel the snowboard.

Pilot - 4

Very easy to feel the backpack.

Alien - 4

Moderately easy to feel. Find a laser gun then check for either the alien head or a visor (which means it’s the cyborg).

Baseball player - 4

Very easy to feel the bat as the grip is unique.

Samarai warrior - 4

This one was a little tougher for me, but if you can find the sword its easy. The problem is there is a lot of pieces and it’s hard to isolate one inside the pack. One thing to note, the body armor is a cheap soft plastic and not the hard plastic of the similar castle ones.

Race car driver - 3

This was probably the toughest one to find. The only distinguishing thing is the visor. Since it’s very easy for pieces to get stuck finding a visor means it could be one of four figures.

Tennis player - 3

Simple to find once you can feel the tennis racket.

Gorilla costume - 3

Moderately easy to find as the banana is easy to find and the gorilla head is huge in the packaging. My wife got a big kick out of this guy.

Cyborg – 4

Just like the alien, find the laser gun then look for an alien head or a visor. This figure it better than I expected.

Mummy - 5

Fairly easy to feel, just find the scorpion as it’s all one piece and isn’t flat. This figure isn’t quite as cool as I thought it was be. Perhaps it’s because the figure is stark white and not an aged yellow like I imagined.

There were also 3 packages with visors that I couldn’t tell which one it was. My guess is 2 were race car drivers but I couldn’t isolate enough pieces to be sure.

There were also 3 other packages that I had absolutely no idea. I can say for sure that they were NOT the Indian, alien, gorilla, elf, or anything with a stick (fishing pole, laser gun, sword etc.). If I had to guess it would be perhaps the tennis player, sumo wrestler, or maybe even the Hawaiian.

it should be randomised. no two cases should be alike. that way it's much fairer on everybody. that and the blind packaging should deter hoarders. everyone getting the same chances of finding figures and increasing the swappable nature of the spares you don't want which is how it seems to me that Lego wanted this to go. Hence the reason for removing the barcodes. It isn't supposed to be easy. it's supposed to be fun and fair and encourage interaction between Lego fans. Not divide them orleave them aggravated because someone snaffled all the best figures from a case.

That's just marketing spin. TLC doesn't care if it's "fun and fair." They don't care about encouraging interaction and trading. The ONLY REASON for blind packaging is money. It's an age-old marketing scam, and it works really, really well. They want consumers to spend more money, because you're never sure what you're going to get. You have to hedge your bets. If there's one fig that you want, how many figs do you buy to give yourself a reasonable chance of getting it? 5? 10? Whatever that number is, you've just spend way more money that you would have if the figs had open packaging.

Great. Short-shipping the elf, just like the Spartan.

I am surprised they picked the fisherman. I mean, it is not a robot or a cheer leader. I seriously doubt many people will pay 60 dollars for him (that's the expected amount of money you will have to spend to get him).

Hoarders will win this one.

All figs should be equally likely, really. Note that even if the probability was even you would need 54.0917 purchases on average to get a complete set, which is still a lot...

Perhaps the optimal would be, 8 figs per series and all equally likely. But it is not like TLG cared...

I answered this question in the other post. You will need 20 purchases on average to get a specific fig of the second tier of rare figs (ie: space pirate, elf).

In real life though, unless you are buying online, you could probably feel the contents. I think the elf is around the easiest to feel through, with the shield and the bow...

WOW only 2 fishermen. You don't even get 3 whole sets! But these are some great figs. My favorite are the gorilla and samurai.

To the one who asked about price, yes the same. Fred Meyer is one of the few stores that charge Lego's $1.99 (Walmart being the other, but they are hit or miss for stocking them). All the other stores including Target have followed TRU's lead in charging $2.99. Greedy ......

In reality the chances of what what you want are fairly good with a few exceptions. See my original post with the breakdown for thoughts on how easy they are. The race car driver would be fairly tough to find in store without spending a couple hours in the toy isle feeling the packages.

I agree that Lego's choice of making the fisherman rare is weird. Don't get wrong, I think its one of the coolest in the set. But it doesn't have a whole lot of MOC capability other than to make a Deadliest Catch set or something.

Series 3's Code has been cracked over at From Bricks To Bothans!

To use this barcode sheet, all you have to do is feel the “bumps” on the bottom back of each bag. The black dots shows where the bumps are.

These codes are from North America and there are currently no details whether they are the same for the rest of the world.

Let us try to build a sheet for Europe or at least confirm that for Europe the dots are the same as for the US.

Maybe that's the whole point. People want a whole team of baseball players, a whole army of elves or samurai, but who really needs more than one fisherman? On the other hand, of the figures that I'd only want one of, he's probably my favorite. I personally think it's too early to tell, we've only seen the contents of a few boxes posted, that's not a large enough sample size.

I can verify (partially at least) that the code is authentic. I don't remember which ones came out of which packs, but they do have the series of raised bumps on the bottom heat seal. Let hope that series 4 is already in production and has the same code structure.

I hate it when someone finds a way to find a specific fig. If this gets out, all I'll have the chance to get is the pilot. :sceptic:

There already was a way to find any specific figure. I correctly guessed all 16 figures by feel alone. This way just makes it easier.
