Delta 38 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Just a quick question... Brickset has a guide to identifying series 3, but does anyone know what the coloured and uncoloured dots mean? I'm almost sure I know what they mean, but I want to be sure so I can prepare to get them next year. Quote

I didn't get any at Argos. Instead, I went round the corner to WH Smith, spent a small fortune, and got all the minis I wanted. I don't know if the Argos policy was limited to that branch or was nationwide. But when Series 3 hits, I'll either go to Smith or to the LEGO shop. Amps Edited December 7, 2010 by AmperZand Quote

exon_from_youtube Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 went to TRU today to buy a box and they said no, only five per person..... I then asked if I could just walk out and come back in like 20 time and again he said no.... WTF?! thats total BS in my world, Money talks not ethics of some non lego person buying a lego product for his kid because it cost next to nothing.... leave that box to people that want to buy them for a reason... to collect them all.... I had enuff to buy the whole box and even slammed it on the counter with even a bribe and nothing... what is this world coming to? Quote

damian Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I bought 4 minifigures serie 2 in shop today and I notice the same dots system on package - if system on series 3 looks the same - this will be really hard to find what is inside... Quote
Ralph Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Well I found 8 of these at my Toys R Us in Colorado Springs, CO... Sadly once again they were put out just a few hours earlier and basic sold out in a couple of hours. Ralph Quote
rakky Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) Exon Seriously dude, as much as you love lego other people, including children deserve to get hold of them as well, buying a box is fairly selfish if it means others won't get a chance to even get 1 full set. Be glad you got 5, they are not even out in the rest of the world yet and won't be for another month. Edited December 7, 2010 by rakky Quote

Be glad you got 5, they are not even out in the rest of the world yet and won't be for another month. hey I had the cash and I had the want..... if you cant put the cash on the roulette table, dont spin the wheel.... I just needed body parts my self... but the rares are a nice plus. dont get me wrong, if it was only one box on the counter I would have just got a handful. There was three boxes and well, it was on in my book.... when I picked them up the last time I took only 2 bags.... Because they only had 8 left.... But I do not hold respect for clueless parents that have no clue what they are buying. I know what I want and go there with a plan to get it. Take today for instance, in the lego area of TRU and having to watch parents looking at boxes of legos and megablocks and betterblocks (yes some had them all in the same cart as well....Ick!) and trying to figure out what they should get from box art alone.... At the same time I wish every one played with legos, but parents should listen better to their kids and buy the set that fits the bill for the child. Needless to say I popped out the credit card today and ordered a box finally...Shipping was a killer but Ebay will cure the over head on that one later when I sell off a buch of the commons in 4 months when they are hard to find.. Mirandir Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Has anyone else been getting a really strong smell of printing ink, or something like that, from the series 3 bags? Now I'm not talking about the smell from a fresh magazine or so but rather a slap-in-the-face smell that makes you go "Whoa!". Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Which month does series 3 come out in the U.S? In many places, it already has. Best plan is to keep checking those stores in hopes of finding the figs. No idea how long they'll last this time around. Yikes! I need to get cracking. I haven't seen any of them near me yet, but it can't be too long now. At least they should be a lot easier to get starting with this series, now that TLG has ramped up production to better meet demand. Now I just need to find a way to afford them all... Quote
meyerc13 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Here you go link I don't have any packaged Series 3 to check, but as I recall there were bumps and dents, innies and outties, however you want to describe them some were raised and some were indented. My guess is that this new chart is trying to reflect that, but since I don't have a package I can't tell you which is which... a key on the chart would be nice. Cinderbike Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Got back from the local TRU. They only had one box, but luckily I had my iPhone to consult the barcode/dot guide. Scored a space villain and a baseball player, but they didn't have the snowboard girl I wanted to get for my girlfriend. EDIT: Oh, I paid $4.99 per minifigure. What is MSRP? Now I'm not talking about the smell from a fresh magazine or so but rather a slap-in-the-face smell that makes you go "Whoa!". I didn't recognize the smell as being distinctly printing ink, but yes, I noticed a rather odd, strong smell from inside the Series 3 packages which I don't recall experiencing with Series 1 or 2. Cinderbike Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I forgot to mention; the TRU I was at had a limit of 5 per person. Apparently someone came in a few month back (during Series 2) and bought all of them - all 6 boxes they had. I can't see anyone other than an eBay scalper having a need for that many. No wonder they're jacking up prices. :( Quote

Collecting them all and buying a whole case are two completely unrelated things. A box contains 60 figs, and you only need 16 to have a complete collection. That leaves 44 figs that you don't need, and for others to obtain. And if you are in serious need of pieces, there is Bricklink for that. Of course I am guilty of buying a full box of collectibles, but I normally take what I need and give the rest away to friends or someone nearby. -Omi Quote

If one could simply buy 16 and be done with it, that would be one thing - but it doesn't work that way, and it doesn't work that way by TLG's design. If you want to "blame" somebody, blame TLG, not people like exon. Quote
