Gregorovich Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 They are out in Argos today people! Just grabbed me four as i had some change on a giftcard! Grab them before someone riffles through the lot. Picked four from the top left and got race car driver, Elf, Sumo wrestler and Alien. Thanks for this great news! I'll definitely go get some as soon as I can. But does this mean they're also out in WHSmith?( I could get them at Argos or WHSmith, it's just I have a WHSmith giftcard) Quote
Zeya Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 (Regarding TRU returns...) Yep, they take returns on these within 90 days and with a receipt in my area. I found some info on the TRU return policy website: " Online purchases can also be returned to any Toys"R"Us or Babies"R"Us store location for merchandise credit when returned within 90 days of the purchase date. Click here for a list of exceptions to our 90 day policy. " " Exceptions to 90-Day Policy Return Guidelines for Video Games, Accessories, and Systems/Computer Software/VHS Cassettes/DVDs/Music/Electronics/Radio-Control Items/ Trading Cards/Collectibles/ Consumer Electronics/Monitors and Breastpumps We will accept returns of the following items within 45 days from the date of purchase: video games, accessories, and systems; computer software; VHS cassettes; DVDs; music; electronics; radio-control items; trading cards; collectibles; consumer electronics; monitors and breastpumps. The original in-store receipt or online packing slip is required and the item must be returned in its unopened and factory-sealed package. If the item has been opened, we will not be able to process the return. " No big deal I guess, but they might restrict you to 45 days depending on if the collectible minifigs are considered collectible. Also, when they sell s3 online, you can buy that way and return in-store, but they won't do a full refund, just store credit. I'm trying to find ways to game the system here, short of being a real jerk about it. I'm not going to "farm" elves, but I am trying to avoid paying for much more than 16 of these things. I'm not going to comb through their whole stock, but I think I may try and buy a full unopened box going forward. Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Toys R us has reduced their price. Time to order 60 packs! Quote
Zeya Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Toys R us has reduced their price. Time to order 60 packs! To what? $2.99 like on S@H? Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 To what? $2.99 like on S@H? Yeah, it was quite a suprise. I never knew TRU could lower prices without a sale. Quote
tazosaure Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I was lucky to strike a fisherman on my first set of bags, but the more I look at him the more I am disappointed by that fig The head, hat, beard, fish rod and fish are great, but the body has one big flaw: the orange of the torso doesn't match the orange of the legs It's like the blue of the torso's plastic shines through the orange printing... :( Quote
Vindice Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Argos are selling them for £1.99. I'll check WH Smiths at lunchtime and let you know if i see any there. argos had a few boxes out which is a good thing. Quote

It's a great fig otherwise, but the torso print is disappointing. I had the same complaint about the lifeguard from Series 2. Quote
meyerc13 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Yeah, it was quite a suprise. I never knew TRU could lower prices without a sale. Interesting. Their markups on quite a few sets have dropped back down to their normal levels. I suspect this means the end of their BOGO sales on LEGO for a while. Quote

autobrick Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 (edited) I know this thread is a general discussion about Series 3 and not about availability, but has anyone in Canada seen any Series 3 figures in-store? I've checked five Wal-Marts and two Toys R Us since Sunday, some more than once, and haven't seen a single one (they weren't sold out; they just didn't receive any). I find it strange (and a bit ridiculous) that it's been nearly a week since the release date - Jan 1st, going by the date on Lego S@H - and yet there aren't any available. For example, you wouldn't expect a movie or a video game to be still unavailable a week after the release date. Granted, the AFOL fanbase is probably not as big as those of popular movies and games, but it much more rabid. How much longer must we wait? (I know they are available at the Lego store in Calgary and online, but the Calgary store is on the other side of the country and I doubt I could cheaply get a full set online. I actually bought 5 figures off Lego S@H with my order; I calculated roughly a 50% chance of getting duplicates so I decided to try my luck. Hopefully I won't get five race car drivers!) Thanks for the information. It's good to know that our price hasn't gone up, unlike the unfortunate Americans. Unlucky, America! I'd hate to get it into the price argument again, but I think you mean 'lucky' Americans. After all they got the first two (and a bit of the third) series for $1.99 and are finally paying a price that is equivalent to the rest of the world. Edited January 6, 2011 by autobrick Quote
Vindice Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 WH smith or at least my local WH Smith doesn't have the series 3 minifigures out but to be honest although it's not a small store I don't remember seeing series 1 or 2 in there before either. Someone may have better luck in their store. Quote
cimddwc Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I had ordered 5 minifigs (and a few other things) from German S@H which arrived today. I got 2 of the 6 I really want from this series and 1 of 2 that I want "somewhat", so I guess I was a little lucky. But I'll have to start practicing to feel which is inside because the dot bumps at the bottom weren't very reliable: they were reasonably clear on 2 packs, half-visible when I knew where they were supposed to be on 1 and virtually invisible/unfeelable on the other 2. Quote
Dazmundo Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I have just got my first 6, found them in my local Argos, Got Fisherman Samuri Racing Car Driver Snow Boarder Baseball Player Don't know what the last one is as I'm waiting to let my wife open it, the 'bumps' are giving me no clue, they are not easy to see at all. I had to go by feel and it was mainly trying to get things that felt different to each other rather than specific figures. Really pleased with my first load D Quote
robuko Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Launched in HK with ToysRUs this week at HK$21.9 each. I got 13 different figures by feeling them at the counter (actually, I took a few bags back to the lego shelves and did my feeling there!). Only missing cyborg, chief and hula dancer. They are pretty much all better than expected, apart from the sumo wrestler. I got a red pocket voucher for 10% off my next lego purchase over HK$500, so might be back soon for SW and Ninjago stuff which was launched last week too. When I examined the packs, the dots were all accurate and I could use them to tell which was which before opening. Series 2 still in stock too. Quote
jth781 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I got my Series 3 today from LEGO Shop at Home and of the 16 I ordered i got lots of duplicates Quote
legomaniac83 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I find it strange (and a bit ridiculous) that it's been nearly a week since the release date - Jan 1st, going by the date on Lego S@H - and yet there aren't any available..... How much longer must we wait? I am with ya! I have checked multiple WM's and TRU in my area, and the manager at one TRU said that had no idea when they would arrive. Although I was in a WalMart tonight and they did have all of the new 2011 sets on the shelves. But I absolutely do find it ridiculous and maddening that most other places these figs have already showed up. And judging but the duplicates that are being shipped out from Lego.com, I will try my luck and finding the product on the shelves.... BTW are you in the GTA Autobrick? Quote
rakky Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Got my first 5 today from Argos, was worried they might all be duplicates but got the fisherman, elf, baseball player and 2 car drivers, unfortunately the driver is my least favourite but the other three are all pretty cool so am fairly happy. Still no sign of them being in whsmiths yet though which is annoying. Quote
Ogre Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 After seeing the baseball player, I have to say, he's pretty cool...except, I REALLY wish they'd done the pinstripe on his BACK, too. He looks REALLY odd with a blank back. Quote
Stiel Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 So is there any consensus on what's in an unopened box? Is the distribution random or fixed? Thanks in advance. Quote
Baylego Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 The distribution is fixed. I know the amounts are somewhere in this thread... Quote
peterab Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 So is there any consensus on what's in an unopened box? Is the distribution random or fixed? Thanks in advance. It appears it is fixed but with at least two variations. I've seen reports of boxes with only two fishermen, and reports of boxes with three fishermen. Earlier boxes from the US had two, there have been more recent reports of three. Quote
Zoidy Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Got my first 6 from Argos this morning. 2 Samurais 2 Rappers Tennis Player Baseball Player. To have two duplicates was a bit odd I guess, but I'm not complaining too much, they'll get used for something! Quote
lesager Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I got my first five as well: 1 Sumo 1 Samurai 1 Baseball 1 Elf 1 Racer I really want the fisherman, but I know it's the rarest in this series. =( Quote
tazosaure Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) I finally completed my series 3 after stumbling onto an unopened box at my local (hillsdale, in san francisco peninsula) Lego store on Monday. I was only missing a hula girl and a samurai and I have to say that even with an unopened box I had a really hard time spotting the samurai, for some reason the bumps code for this fig was unidentifiable (where as for some figs like the tennis player, snowboarder, mummy and others I found the bumps consistently easy to read). I thus isolated a couple of bags where the bumps didn't seem to match any pattern on the cheat sheet and started trying to feel through the bag. I was looking for the sword but it was not that easy to feel either as it is somewhat bendable (where as the indian chief spear is rigid and thus really easy to identify when feeling through a bag). In the end I resorted to try identifying the helmet. The Lego store staff is really cool about having people coming in with the cheatsheets (I've seen fellow collectors go through the box after me) and feeling through bags for awhile. They told me that they have been receiving a couple of box of the series 3 every week and they put them out on Mondays, so it's better to visit early in the week rather than on week ends (Monday is also more quiet customer wise so I had the opportunity to go through the whole box without anyone else picking out bags from it ;) Good luck everyone hunting for your figs! And now to wait 4 Months 'til series 4 is out... Edited January 12, 2011 by tazosaure Quote
