Funny, the Samurai was the first one I identified. Not by bumps, but by the sword. =P

I gave up following the cheat sheet, because it seemed to only correctly identify the Tennis Player around me. The others had smaller extra bumps, so I decided to feel for the figs rather than by cheat sheet.

Nearly a week since I posted about not finding any minifigs, and they're still not here! (In Canada; not S@H) :sceptic::thumbdown:

BTW are you in the GTA Autobrick?

Yes, most of the time.

After seeing the baseball player, I have to say, he's pretty cool...except, I REALLY wish they'd done the pinstripe on his BACK, too. He looks REALLY odd with a blank back.

Ogre, I'm guessing you got them online/ in-store at the Lego store?

I'm always checking when I go to Target and Walmart near me (San Jose, CA). In the past 2 months I have yet to see a trace of minifig packets. I don't even know where in the store they would keep them. I always look in the Lego aisles, the front by the baseball cards, and on the racks at each checkout aisle. Nada.

You have to look in like the holiday stocking stuffer type aisles, at target at least. Series 3 is in the valentines day section.

I finally completed my series 3 after stumbling onto an unopened box at my local (hillsdale, in san francisco peninsula) Lego store on Monday.

I was only missing a hula girl and a samurai and I have to say that even with an unopened box I had a really hard time spotting the samurai, for some reason the bumps code for this fig was unidentifiable (where as for some figs like the tennis player, snowboarder, mummy and others I found the bumps consistently easy to read).

I thus isolated a couple of bags where the bumps didn't seem to match any pattern on the cheat sheet and started trying to feel through the bag. I was looking for the sword but it was not that easy to feel either as it is somewhat bendable (where as the indian chief spear is rigid and thus really easy to identify when feeling through a bag). In the end I resorted to try identifying the helmet.

The Lego store staff is really cool about having people coming in with the cheatsheets (I've seen fellow collectors go through the box after me) and feeling through bags for awhile. They told me that they have been receiving a couple of box of the series 3 every week and they put them out on Mondays, so it's better to visit early in the week rather than on week ends (Monday is also more quiet customer wise so I had the opportunity to go through the whole box without anyone else picking out bags from it ;)

Good luck everyone hunting for your figs!

And now to wait 4 Months 'til series 4 is out... :cry_sad:

For the samurai, you should feel for the sword, and the only thing that should be mistaken for it is the Indian's spear. Got that info from talking to the guy at the counter. :]

I was there around 1-3, just doing pick a brick after looking for them (and Discovering that the Gateway of the Squid wasn't available, since that was the main reason for going) :[

Turns out my local TRU does stock them!

I went in today and they pulled out two new boxes! I scored two fishermen, a sumo wrestler, an aviator, another racer, and another elf.

The other surprise was that I ran into another AFOL at this same TRU. He was looking for three elves, and if I would've known I got another, I would have gladly handed it over!

I want to know the ratios as well! Westfield staff don't mind you feeling the bags as the store is new and pretty empty during school term. I didn't have dotcodes with me but couldn't find the one I wanted - girl snowboarder. Her snowboard was pretty easy to feel for! Will go back soon with her dot configuration in mind...

Without scrolling through every post for the last 84 pages... does anyone know why there are no extra parts for each figure in season 3?.

Mexican had an extra maraca, forestman had an extra feather, skier had an extra pole, robot had an extra hand etc..

series 3 has no extras.. why?

I'm thinking TLG changed the dots on these or something. I found 2 fresh boxes at TRU today and bought 5, 3 fishers(for friends) and 2 elves. Only 1 of the 3 fishers matches the code sheet, another clearly matches the Rapper's dots. Neither of the Elves match the sheet either. Has anyone else seen this or is this new? Do I not know how to use the code sheet? Are they getting wise and randomly rotating the dots after a batch?

Uh... I think he asked why there are no extras.

I'm guessing because they didn't want to use more plastic. :classic:

I didn't mean to quote . mine was a completely seperate question:

From my experience some bumps were almost impossible to see but the cheat sheet was correct when you could make out the bumps.

I've been labelling the packs as I open then so I'll go back in a bit and review the codes.

Completed my set with a Tennis Player today, it's one of the easier codes, I thought I'd picked it up on my first buy but it must have got lost in the sorting.

I've got a few dupes but my interest was in getting a set. I don't really approve of wholesale ransacking to pull out excessive copies of a particular figure because we seem to get such limited supplies here and others deserve a chance.

:classic: :classic:

I can't be 100% sure, but when looking for gorilla suits yesterday the dots appeared to be different from the one on the cheat sheet.

Isn't it cool.

I laughed when I saw it was a guy sweating in a suit.

In holland they don't have the dots :'( so just feeling the content. My girlfriend got 5 of them for me, twice the racer, the mummy, the baseball guy, the tennis girl.

I'v got 9 elfs from Smyths Toys in Charlton UK. They have 7 boxes of series 3. Dots was veeeery easy for me - like bar codes. But i can confirm that not all bags have visable dots. Maybe only elfs are easy to find. They also have new space theme in shop (I bought 3366 car and rocket for 13.99)

Found these finally in Finland, but didn't have printed cheat sheet with me, so I just had to try feeling. Boy was that hard! I felt through at least two dozen packages, it took more than fifteen minutes, and I could identify with any certainty only one gorilla guy (banana), one tennis player (racket), one samurai (armour), one indian chief (headpiece) and three baseball players (bats). Bought the first four and left the baseball players for others. Now that I'm home, only the tennis player (and the baseball players I didn't buy) seem to match easily with the markings on the cheat sheet linked in Brickset. I recall however seeing a more detailed cheat sheet somewhere, can anyone link to that?

Hopefully the elf's dots are as clear as the players' ones. The quest for the elves is just beginning...

Bought my first 12 packs yesterday. I tried to feel the figures and choose 10 figures this way. Then I picked up 2 packs randomly. Back at home I searched for the dots/bumps and didn't find any. After I opened the packs I looked again and found some bumps, almost invisible. It would last forever if I try to identify the figures in the store this way. So for this series it's "touching" for me

I had the same experience in Holland, no dots at all....

So I bought a complete box of Minifigures today.

Sadly there are no dots on the bags (real market in Germany).

The top also has another surface as the bottom where the dots should be. I think TLG just puts the bags through a machine which removes the dots, just after grouping the 60 bags and before packaging in the box.

Does anyone know if the bags in the box are sorted by the type of the minifigure, as in the previous series?
