This is an early catalog so the design of the ninjas may still be provisional or a place holder.

I just hope there is no 'card tax' that would make the sets much more expensive than they would be without that 'feature'.

What do you mean by "feature"?

If it's anything like collectible minifigures, I'm probably not interested. It's not just availability, I heard that collectible minifigures are around $3.75 here!

When you say "other stuff" do you mean like accessories or settings? Any new pieces you could make out?

Only ordinary stuff like swords, small round thick baseplates, ... I regrettably don't remember more details.

Small round thick baseplates.....hmmm......play pieces sort of eh.... maybe like Warhammer or something like it ?

I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

I can't remember some Toy Story sets. And PoP and Pirates of the Caribbean I don't remember to have seen, too. But I might even be wrong.

Klaus-Dieter

Did you see any Hero Factory sets or World Racets sets? Just out of interest.

This theme sounds, different, but somehow I don't think I will warm to it as I did others, eg World Racers.

Hmmm....

This is interesting, very interesting. I'm excited! If this is anything like KK2, I'm sold!

EDIT: Am I the only one that likes this?

Yes.

Thanks again for the news, Klaus-Dieter.

I wouldn't slay this theme before we see it, up to now I'm more interested in Ninjago than in City 2011.

As for Prateek's question, I wasn't so happy about them (KKII minifigs) but this might be better.

Do you mean all sets are basically impulse-sized ?

Then I wouldn't think it is an action theme but something else? Would open a theme slot, I wouldn't think world racers would last two waves, would it?

Girl ninja, anyone? ^^ It would be fine if the ninjas were anime-styled, only faces, easy to replace for people who don't like anime. We need an anime/japanese theme after the previous one died (R.I.P. Exo-Force).

I'm nervous about this. Mainly the card thing. I just don't like where this seems to be headed, but I'll wait and see before writing it off completely.

Adventurers had a card/board game based element within the Orient Expidition subtheme.

Round bases and cards? Sounds like HeroClix, or other such table top gaming. An interesting place for Lego to go.

Oh dear, map-based would be even worse. Aside from the portability limitations - and portability is a key factor to the success of many collectible games that manufacturers often forget about - all these non-Lego elements would push the price up.

I am a bit skeptical about this new NINJAGO theme, i will have to wait for pictures before saying anything. I do however like the idea of individual minifigs with cards. Here is hoping they are not going to be Chinese plastic.

This sounds pretty strange. I want to wait for pictures before making a judgement on these. I hope there is plenty of new elements or recolors in these sets.

Hello everybody! :classic:

Since I had the big luck to have a look in the retailer's catalogue today, I can confirm that there'll be a new theme called "NINJAGO".

I can't remember the seperate sets - but nevertheless an overview:

It is not a historical theme (like the Ninja theme one of 1999/2000).

It's some sort of mixture between card game and collectable minifigs.

If I remember right, every set contains one Ninja (there are even Ninja in violet and orange), some extra stuff and play cards.

I think there were about 9 til 18 small sets.

More I do regrettably no remember.

Let's discuss. :classic:

Klaus-Dieter

So it sounds to me that this is collectible minifigure meets card game, meets the concept behind Bionicle (of including a series of different colored, themed figures as a set)

while new Ninja parts and weapons could be cool, I am not as excited for the theme as I would have been if there were new buildings and entire sets coming out. Did you see any decor or is it all minifigure based?

As far as a repeat of the "Jellybean Knights" I think Lego learned the lessons from that, and at least to me the current line of miniofigs is the best I've seen since the early 90's and I would argue they are the best ever. I mean, each new set fig has character and personality; and isn't a random face on a random torso withrandom acessories.

That is to say that I trust the current Lego production team to make each ninja and the accessories in the set superb.

KD, did you hear anything about when new KINGDOMS sets might be coming out?

Interesting, thanks for the information Klaus-Dieter. I actually find myself quite looking forward to this, not the trading cards, but the actual figs and general set up sounds intriguing, and who can turn down an orange ninja?

Batbrick Away!
